A 3 sleeper, fully equiped self catering unit, with private bathroom & kitchen
About Peter Gair
We visited in April 2016 and it was love at first sight, so much so we made an offer while we staying here, completed the purchase and moved in by June 2016. Our guests certainly seem to enjoy their stay, with our occupancy rate the highest in San Ignacio (just like our ratings ! - over 300 five star reviews across various booking platforms). Due to demand we have now constructed a third unit, this one a 2 bedroomed available from December 2017, but don't worry like the other 2 cabins it is strategically placed to offer maximum privacy.

Why Peter Gair chose San Ignacio
Sanpopo Tree Top Cabin is quite a unique property due to it's location, described by some locals as a jungle in town, we are only 1/2 mile from the town centre, situated on over a acre of tropical gardens, these lush gardens are home to Iguana's, and a large range of birds and butterflies. Being raised you have fantastic views of birds, iguana's and have hummingbird feeders on your balcony, you can sit and watch them feed just a few feet away, being raised also reduces the amount mosquitos, and all windows and doors have insect screening We have our own Iguana feeding program which attracts many various types and sizes of Iguana's which makes wonderful photographic opportunities, there are also various bird and butterfly feeding stations on the property, we take looking after out wildlife seriously and currently use a crate of banana's every 5 days ! as well as plenty other fruits and vegetables. Within a comfortable walking distance (15 to 20 mins), to the town centre and famous market, you also have Cahal Pech Mayan Ruins within walking distance. Xunantunich Ruins are less than 8 miles away - a short bus journey to the ruins offers fantastic views over the rolling countryside and Guatemala, many guests prefer to visit on a horseback tour The accommodation itself is raised on stilts, nestling you above most insect flies zones, so not only do you have a lot less mosquitoes but superior views of iguana's and birds in the tree's right next to you, at eye level. Inside the accommodation you have a super comfy queen size bed, two fridges, a fully equipped kitchenette, unlimited Crystal Ultra Pure Drinking Water and to add to the luxury your private bathroom includes a whirlpool bath, great for unwinding at the end of the day. The unit has 2 ceiling fans as well as a wind machine, 3 doors that open onto your own private seated decked area, you have free Wi-Fi available in your accommodation and throughout most of the gardens
What makes this Cottage unique
Set on acre of tropical gardens, a quality cottage with a luxurious whirpool bath, idea for relaxing after a visit to one of the many Maya ruins, cave exploring or any of the many local magical days out. We also have our own wild iguana feeding programme which at time attracts over a dozen wild iguana's at a single sitting. The grounds are a paradise for bird and butterfly enthusiast's, and there are a feeding area's featured throughout the grounds

Beautiful Cabin in the Belizean Jungle
Peter and Jenny offer a truly unique experience. You feel like part of their family while you stay there and the cabins allow you to fully immerse yourself in the beautiful environment. There are numerous hummingbirds found on the property and a set of incredibly comfortable lounge chairs ready for you to relax with your cup of morning coffee. Not to mention, you have everything you need to make a great breakfast right there in the cabin before you head out for the day! Highly recommend staying here and we will definitely be back the next time we are in San Ignacio. Thank you for all that you do; Peter, Jenny & Family!
Absolutely Wonderful Experience!
Peter and Jenny were amazing hosts and what a beautiful property! The cabin was very clean and well taken care of and check in and check out was a piece of cake. Every morning we got to wake up to iguanas sunbathing in the trees right outside our door and saw countless humming birds on the porch. Very close to the downtown area - only a 20 minute walk or $2.50 (US) cab ride. We would definitely recommend!
We are thrilled you enjoyed your stay, it was a absolute please having you here and would love to welcome you back again in the future
We had a great time here!
The property was just as described. Very well-kept, with some extras that were not expected that were awesome.
It was our pleasure to have the opportunity to host you.
Wow, Peter, Jenny and family make you feel like family. We loved it
We loved our little tree house. Peter, Jenny, Craig, and Katie are awesome and they made us feel welcome and were always willing to answer any questions we had. There are three different cottages on the property and they are all unique and private. The property is close enough to town to walk to but far enough away to feel like you're in the woods or rain forest. Ok, there are barking dogs at times, and a rooster somewhere and lots of local, wild bird chatter but there are ear plugs available and we didn't find it too bad. The breeze was nice in the evening and the we really didn't need an air conditioner.
I loved the deck and sitting out in the morning watching the birds and drinking a great cup of coffee. There is a full kitchen although we only used the coffee pot and water kettle. There is a great little place to get an inexpensive breakfast just a few minutes walk up the road.
One of the owners always seems to be home and we felt safe on the property.
There are lots of different kinds of trees and shrubs on the property that attract lots of different birds and they feed the iguanas and other animals.
We highly recommend staying here.
Glad you folks enjoyed your stay, we certainly enjoyed having you stay with us and loved our chats.
We would love to welcome you back again
The hosts were very accommodating and helpful
This was a great place to stay.
and you were great guests - always welcome
The property is located at 82 Bullet Tree Road. The entrance is located on Bullet Tree Road, approx. 100 yards on the left after the Puma Gas Station, the entrance has a white temple / pyramid shaped wall with the number 82 and a toucan painted on, that can be clearly seen from the road.
Perfectly located to explore San Ignacio and then many nearby Mayan Ruins and the famous ATM caves. Cahal Pech Ruins and the Iguana Sanctuary are both under a twenty minute walk, San Ignacio town center a fifteen minute walk.
Xunantunich Ruins are 8 miles away, El Pillar ruins under ten miles.
