I grew up in the Cole Cabin and the Cole House. Stratton got started when I was a child by my mother, Malvine Cole, and a number of other people both local and from outside the state. I learned to ski on the hillside near the houses and at Stratton.
It offers an old style of vacation that is quiet, private and away from it all in the backwoods of Vermont. Yet it is close to the Stratton Ski Area and other places of interest in Southern Vermont.
The house is located on a dead-end dirt road, so it is a get-away, but it is also very close to Stratton Mountain (you can see the mountain out your window) and only 20 minutes from Manchester, noted for good restaurants and outlet shopping. There is also a 3/4 acre private pond available on the property for ice skating in the winter and swimming in the summer. Pikes Falls is two miles down the road for cool water swimming and exploring.
