Stratton House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Just 1.5 miles from the Stratton Resort's base lodge, the Cole House rents out for just $10,500 for the Ski Season (December - mid April) plus utilities and security deposit. A great rate for a house so close to Stratton Mountain.

This comfortable rustic three bedroom house is located at 1700 feet, high in the foothills of Stratton Mountain.

A beautiful country pond is but a couple of steps away from the house. Located on a dead-end dirt road, the house is both quiet and convenient.

The House is 1.5 miles from the Stratton Base lodge, a ski area in the winter. Tennis, golf, horseback riding and concerts held in their outdoor shell are summertime features.

Spacious and Comfortable.

Warm and friendly, the house is comfortably furnished for easy housekeeping including, bedding, dishes, cutlery and utensils. Everything is provided except sheets, pillowcases and towels. The newly renovated eat-in kitchen is electric with a dishwasher, electric range, microwave, full size refrigerator, coffee grinder and coffee maker. A deep well gives pure water. Hand-hewn beams, pine-paneled walls and a brick fireplace with a warm and cozy propane fireplace are living room features.

Downstairs there is a bedroom with a queen bed. There is also a split bath. There is a claw foot tub with a shower and sink in one room and a sink and a lavatory in another room.

Upstairs, there are two bedrooms, one with two double beds and one with one double bed. There is also a bathroom with a shower. The house has a washer and a dryer in a laundry room on the first floor.

Cable TV, Wireless Internet access and a DVD player are provided.

Outside of the house is a Weber Grill for cooking steaks, corn, hamburgers and hot dogs.

A Private Country Pond

In the Summer, the three quarter acre country pond offers refreshing swimming. It is spring fed. A rowboat is provided for fun. The grassy banks of the pond provide safe and easy entry into the water. The pond is a great place to enjoy the sun on a hot day. A lovely screened gazebo graces the far shore. Beyond the pond is a small brook.

In the winter, it provides a place to ice skate, an alternative activity to skiing.

Lots to Do Nearby.

You can go for a hike on the Long Trail which runs through Stratton Mountain or travel a short distance to a waterfall at Pikes Falls and to a wilderness lake. Pikes Falls is a beautiful rocky place for diving, sun bathing or hiking as well as a cool dip. The water is very cold even in the late August.

Within a few miles are good eating places, country auctions, fairs, antiques and within a half an hour's drive, concerts and summer theater.

About Jeremy Cole

I grew up in the Cole Cabin and the Cole House. The Stratton ski area was started by my mother, Malvine Cole, who was often called the Mother of Stratton Mountain, and a number of other people both local and from outside the state. I learned to ski on the hillside near the houses and at Stratton.

Why Jeremy Cole chose Vermont

The Cole House offers an old style of vacation that is quiet, private and away from it all in the backwoods of Vermont. For skiers, it is close to the Stratton Ski Area; it takes about seven minutes to drive to the base lodge. Its closeness means that renters can come home from the skiing for lunch or run their kids up to the mountain and then return to spend a quiet day at the house or go cross country skiing or snow shoeing in the fields and woods nearby.

The house is located on a dead-end dirt road, so it is a get-away, but it is also very close to Stratton Mountain (you can see the mountain out your window) and only 20 minutes from Manchester, noted for good restaurants and outlet shopping. There is also a 3/4 acre private pond available on the property for ice skating in the winter and swimming in the summer. Pikes Falls is two miles down the road for cool water swimming and exploring.
