About the property

This is my largest cabin and can sleep four people. Two bedrooms, two baths, a large covered porch with hot tub and a fireplace in the living room make this a great family vacation choice. There’s a nice little picnic spot down by the tumbling brook as an added feature, with the stunning beauty of the North Carolina mountains all around. Like all of our cabins, the Johnson Branch Cabin is fully equipped, spotless, and just waiting for you!

I have a total of 3 cabins and you can view additional pictures and the availability calendar directly on my website

Calendar is always up to date.

My cabin offers everything that you will need; private Hot Tub, cable TV, Central air and heat, unique setting, privacy and peace. The Johnson Branch cabin is 1 mile from the Valley, restaurants, gift shops and bars. The cabin is tastefully decorated with antiques. From the porch you can enjoy the sound of the creek bordering the property. The Johnson Branch cabin has wireless Internet, bring your laptop and work anywhere on the property, sit on your deck or by the creek. ONLY (1) one dog under 25 lb. will be accepted for a non refundable pet fee of $ 100.00 + 11% tax. ABSOLUTELY NO CATS!

About Madeleine Kenowski

Hello there and welcome to my cabins. I was born in Lausanne Switzerland and after spending a few years in Wisconsin and Florida, I realized how much I missed the Alps. My husband and I bought this beautiful piece of property a few years back, built our home and three cabins. This is not a rental complex all cabins are very private.

Why Madeleine Kenowski chose Maggie Valley

The setting of my cabins is unlike many others. Not only will you be closed to town but you will also have the privacy you are looking for. I am always around to take care of what ever needs you might have and you will not have to rely on a property manager.

What makes this cabin unique

Privacy, sound of the Johnson Branch Creek. Cabins well taking care off. So peacefull, you will get the rest you are looking for.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We rented the Johnson Branch cabin and it was better than our expectations. Even after viewing the pictures, it was bigger than expected and emaculately clean. It was really peaceful, sitting on the porch, rocking in the chairs, and enjoying nature. We were able to watch chipmunks and a bunny rabbit playing the yard throughout the week. We really enjoyed coming back to the cabin each evening and getting in the hot tub. Again, the whole experience was better than expected. We'll be renting this cabin again!

The cabin was great, the cleanest cabin we have ever stayed in. Madeleine was so sweet and wonderful host. It was very comfortable and beautiful. I loved all the notes on how to use things and explanation on how to do things. Thanks for a great vacation and a little slice of heaven in Maggie Valley.

I am glad you enjoyed my latest addition to the cabin such as new queen mattress in the master bedroom, Broyhill sleeper sofa and the Lazyboy recliner. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my cabin and leaving it the way you found it on arrival. It was a pleasure having you both and I am looking forward to have you back anytime.

Rented cabin for tranquility, but instead got bridge/road construction from 6am-6pm everyday

  • 3 of 5

The cabin was acceptable, however we felt misled since we were not advised of the bridge construction and the incessant noise all within just 200 ft of the cabin.

Owner's Response: Unfortunately as all State jobs, I had no idea when the construction would start. In any case the job is getting near the end and we will have a brand new bridge. My residence is near this bridge and they do not start at 6AM, it is dark at that time of the day and by 5pm they are gone. Also the construction involves different steps and there is not a constant noise as you stated. They also do take a lunch hour. I am only a phone call away. Providing you would have contacted me, I could have relocated you to a different cabin.

enjoyed our stay very much----Madeleine was a great host---

Beautiful setting---could hear the brook flowing in the quiet of the morning and evening---place was great---would like to see them add a queen size or king size bed as the full bed was a little tight for sleeping two.

the accommodations were great!

Owner's Response: I am glad to hear you enjoyed staying at the Johnson Branch cabin. The size of the bed is actually a queen size standard bed.

A home away from home.... maybe even better

  • 5 of 5

This was our 7th time staying at the Johnson Branch cabin since 2009. This cabin is the largest of the 3 nestled on the hills mere walking distance from the main road. The first Sunday of every visit has met us with a beautiful cabin, clean and quaint. The mad dash to the fridge is rewarded with the best lemon poppy seed bread you will ever come across. Mornings in the heat of summer greet you with cool temps in the 50s and 60s. Armed with a fresh hot beverage, you can sit on the shaded porch listening to the creek that runs at the base of the property while watching the antics of hummingbirds visiting the feeder and house wrens building a nest in the bird house. Evenings (or anytime) unwind in the hot tub watching the sun set and the lightning bugs put on a nightly fireworks display. With so many visits, we have gotten to know Madeleine and really feel we are spending a week with a friend. As the family has grown, we have filled the cabin and even expanded to 2 cabins now. We look forward to many more visits in the future. If you are looking to stay in Maggie Valley, I can think of no place more pleasant and relaxing than in one of the Johnson Branch Cabins.

The property was exactly as depicted in the pictures. The cabin was very clean and well kept. Our dog was allowed to come and she enjoyed running around in the yard all day. Very close to Cataloochee Ski Resort and only 30-45 min away from Harrahs and Asheville. Loved this place.
