About Madeleine Kenowski

Hello there and welcome to my cabins. I was born in Lausanne Switzerland and after spending a few years in Wisconsin and Florida, I realized how much I missed the Alps. My husband and I bought this beautiful piece of property a few years back, built our home and five cabins. This is not a rental complex all cabins are very private and not at the same location.

Why Madeleine Kenowski chose Maggie Valley

The setting of my cabins is unlike many others. Not only will you be closed to town but you will also have the privacy you are looking for. I am always around to take care of what ever needs you might have and you will not have to rely on a property manager.

What makes this cabin unique

Privacy, sound of the Johnson Branch Creek. Cabins well taking care off. So peacefull, you will get the rest you are looking for.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We rented the Johnson Branch cabin and it was better than our expectations. Even after viewing the pictures, it was bigger than expected and emaculately clean. It was really peaceful, sitting on the porch, rocking in the chairs, and enjoying nature. We were able to watch chipmunks and a bunny rabbit playing the yard throughout the week. We really enjoyed coming back to the cabin each evening and getting in the hot tub. Again, the whole experience was better than expected. We'll be renting this cabin again!

The property was exactly as depicted in the pictures. The cabin was very clean and well kept. Our dog was allowed to come and she enjoyed running around in the yard all day. Very close to Cataloochee Ski Resort and only 30-45 min away from Harrahs and Asheville. Loved this place.

A perfect fit for our needs!

  • 5 of 5

This was a great place to enjoy time with my son for Thanksgiving. It was wonderful to have a complete kitchen for cooking each day. It helped to have the notebook of frequently asked questions. I have recommended this format of housing to many other people and we look forward to our next Home Away visit!

spotless cabin in a beautiful peaceful area

  • 5 of 5

This was my second visit to a Johnson Branch Cabin. Both were spotless and the land around the cabins were well maintained. The Johnson Branch Cabin sits on a hill in a beautiful location. It has high cathedral ceilings in the kitchen and den that opens up the cabin. The kitchen was stocked with all of the kitchen necessities that I needed for my stay. The refrigerator does not have an ice maker but I bought a bag of ice at a gas station on Hwy 19. Everything worked in the cabin. I did not have a problem with the toilet, refrigerator, heater, hot tub. The creek runs along the side of the property that continues across the street. Along the side of the creek there is a fire pit, table and chairs where you can relax, listen to the creek, read a book and enjoy the area. The deck is large. There is a picnic table, rockers and a large hut tub. While sitting on the deck you can see the mountains through a clearing. It was so beautiful looking at the colors of the leaves. I loved my stay spending time with my dog. We walked down the hills along the side of the road listening to the creek and enjoying the beauty of this small area of NC. I highly recommend these cabins and will be returning.

We enjoyed our stay in the mountains but not because of this unit.

1. Must clean fireplace if used? So we didn't .

2. Must clean bbq. grill if used? We did but this is absurd.

3. No ovenware supplied? I assume so you won't get it dirty.

4.One dish towel,no dish rag.

5.No dishwasher or ice maker?

6.Signs taped everywhere telling how to everything but wipe yourself. Ruins the entire atmosphere.

7. Cabin book of instructions absolutely overdone.

8.Everytime we left, someone snuck on to porch to snap the hot tub closed? Really?

9.No t.v.s in bedroom and the one in living room not flat screen?

10.Not on a stream as stated. Located down a hill across the street.

11. Master bath toilet was a miniature size and had to be plunged constantly. This was not one on the many warnings posted with a threat of no deposit returned.

12.Even the fridge was on lowest setting(hot) when we arrived.

13.The smaller bedroom had pillows but no pillow cases.

I could go on and on but this cabin was overpriced and the Wal Mart of cabins.

Owner's Response: I am only a phone call away and I would have loved to hear from you and help you find the items you could not find. I do not charge a cleaning or hot tub fee and my previous guests never had a problem with cleaning the fireplace or the grill. Ovenware, are in the cupboard, and there are more than one ovenproof dish. I am not sure why you could not find them. Dish towels are under the sink where the cleaning products are as well as a towel on the oven door and a scrub sponge on top of the sink, plus hand soap. I do not describe the cabin with a dishwasher or ice maker. As stated in my notes I do check the hot tub every 2 or 3 days for chemicals, and I do so when I do not see a car at the cabin in order to respect your privacy. My listing does not mention a TV in the bedroom and also does not mention a flat screen in the living room. I will make sure to purchase a new flat screen TV for future guest. The cabin is not directly on the stream but the stream can be viewed from the porch and is approximately 100 feet from the cabin. I do not describe the cabin being directly on the creek. Master bath toilet is a regular size, and I have never had a complaint with having to plunge it all the time. I had other satisfied guest he week before and after your stay and nobody has said a thing about the toilet. The refrigerator is always under the recommended setting, again nobody has ever said a thing about that. Your party was a party of 2, I do not make the twin beds in the child's room but do have sheets, pillow case and blankets in the closet. I would have been more than happy to stop by and make the additional beds for you. So sorry you were not happy with the cabin. To future guests, please take a minute to check previous reviews from wonderful, caring, and happy guests. I do have 5 cabins for your consideration. They all provide different amenities, make sure you choose the one providing what you are looking for.

Our well needed getaway

This rental should be the lesson for all rentals. Clean, clean, extra clean and did I mention clean. Thank you so much for having a peaceful spot in the mountains. My husband and I enjoyed the deck early morning for coffee and in the evening for cocktails. The church chimes coming from the valley below made it extra special. The sound from the creek and the great linens on the bed made for a great night sleep. The cabin is quiet and here I go again, extra clean. If you are looking for a great spot close enough to the action, but still peaceful and quiet, this is the one. We would also recommend the Rendezvous restaurant in Maggie Valley. All around great service, food and price
