Official Rating 5 stars - March 19, 2013.
Le Grand Cerf is a large romantic and lovely apartment with 2 small balconies, something rare in the medieval village of Riquewihr. Ideal for a stay with family or friends in any season.
Located on the second floor of our big house on the ramparts of Renaissance 1291 Schœnenbourg facing the vineyard, this luxurious appartment occupies a prime location and offers unusual and exceptional volumes.
Extremely bright, the apartment occupies the entire second floor and opens to the 4 cardinal points with superb views.
There are 2 large bedrooms (king size beds 180 x 200 cm) with en-suite bathroom and toilet for each room.
Apartment strictly NON SMOKING
The location is exceptional: in the medieval ramparts, facing the vineyards. It is quiet, but only a few hundred meters from the heart of Riquewihr, one of the most beautiful villages in France ...
This is a collection of 6 new outstanding luxury holiday homes: 4 of them are located in a big Renaissance house (actually a winery built in 1580) on the first belt of the ramparts (built 3 centuries earlier in the year 1291). The property is facing the famous Schoenenbourg Grand Cru vineyard producing some of the best Alsace wine; 2 other apartments are in a 17th Century adjacent house. The houses are surrounding a small garden. The renovation works took more than 2 years. The result is a gem!
Les Remparts de Riquewihr (Ramparts of Riquewihr) is our small family business. We are a couple of tourism professionals - Martine and Jean-Paul - having many years of experience in airline business and travels.
We think that - especially for a rather long stay (most of our guests are discovering the slow travel concept and are staying 7 nights and more) - it is not enough to sleep well during the night but it is necessary to enjoy the stay in a place which is somehow of the same level as the historical surroundings, the landscape, the mountain and the vineyards: beautiful. We put a lot of effort and care in the renovation and decoration of our vacation rental apartments because we want our holiday homes to be a memorable part of your travel experience to Alsace and France.
Jean-Paul Krebs purchased this apartment in 2012
After 6 years of efforts rebuilding this old medieval property we are proud to announce that our collection of new outstanding luxury holiday homes in Riquewihr, Alsace just earned a 4 and 5 stars official classification by the French ministry of Tourism.
Our holiday homes belong without any doubt to the finest places to stay in Alsace.
The location is exceptional: a very quiet historical place facing the most famous vineyard in the area but within short walking distance of the historical center of the village.
We were here in January and enjoyed the frosting of snow while staying in The White Stork. We thought it was the best, but this time we are staying in Lucky Dragon and are enjoying the spring time so much. This is also a wonderful place. We especially love the jacuzzi bathtub, the large covered outside area and the careful attention to every detail. We would move in if we could. It couldn't be more perfect. This is our third stay, each time in a different and equally wonderful apartment. This is true luxury.
We spent a wintery week in a fairy tale come true. This is truly a wonderful place to spend time. The apartment was so comfortable we wanted to move in permanently. It lives up to all the charm that Riquewihr has to offer. Beautifully decorated and truly comfortable from the bed to the couches and the large bathtub with all amenities you could want. We wanted to come back for a few days this summer, but the dates we wanted were already taken. Be sure to make your reservations early and not miss this magical place. We received good recommendations for restaurants and wines of the area. Helpful owners and staff made the experience even better. There is so much to see and do in the area. Then in the evening when all the day trippers leave you have the town almost to yourselves. We loved the storks too.
Our family spent a week at the Alsation Hart apartment. The suite is charming, nicely decorated and outfitted to a high standard. The two bedroom, two bath configuration was perfect for our stay. The air conditioning was a nice plus as well for those hot days. The property is ideally located on a quiet alley away from the busy areas of the town. Riquewihr and the surrounding areas are beautiful with lots to see and do for families as well as couples. The property manager, Valerie, was charming and easily contacted if needed.
Great location - easy drive from Strasbourg Airport, easily located, parking only short walk from apartment (located in ramparts on edge of town) and easy 5 mins walk from centre of town & restaurants etc. Apartment itself is a admirable example of restoration - it has character, but is also clean, comfortable, modern and user-friendly with 2 small but usable balconies. Also has pleasant views of the vineyards through bedroom windows. Five nights stay in this apartment was an ideal & idyllic break and Riquewihr is the perfect base for an explore of Alsace.
This property far exceeded our expectations: for size, for quality of decor including an induction range, for overall charm. While Riquewihr is a destination throbbing with day trippers, White Stork is an oasis of calm 60 meters off the Main Street. When they leave, you go out and enjoy this wonderful village. The proprietors seem to have thought of everything to make this a perfect stay and a bargain in terms of price.
Nous avons passé un séjour inoubliable dans l'appartement du Grand Cerf. Chaleureuse et belle décoration, équipements modernes, literie qui vous endort… calme, et belle vue sur vignoble. tout est parfait.
a très bientôt.
Riquewihr, perhaps the most romantic medieval city of Alsace is hidden among the vineyards and the Vosges Mountains.
Alsace and the medieval town of Riquewihr the vineyards are definitely a great destination. Alsace offers a unique combination of history, culture and landscapes. A renowned gastronomy and delicious wine make it one of the most interesting regions to visit in Europe.
In early 2010, the famous travel guides Lonely Planet elected Alsace among the original 10 destinations in the world to visit this year! For Lonely Planet, Alsace is one of the most beautiful and the most original of France which, thanks to its wine, cuisine and other attractions and tourist facilities are worth the trip.
Riquewihr is one of the crown jewels and has still the face that was hers there nearly 500 years. More than 30 restaurants are within walking distance in the village, the traditional family restaurant in the establishment of prestigious Michelin star.
Riquewihr is also a convenient place to stay for exploring and discovering all Alsace, but also very close to Germany and even Switzerland.
