4 bedroom chalets sleeping 8-12 with large living dining area

Chalet Marron is situated in La Thuile which is a small sleepy traditional hamlet within the commune of Ste Foy Tarentaise. la Thuile itself is situated just off the main road between the Village and Ski station, guests can choose to take the free bus which takes 10 minutes to Ste Foy Station from about 100m from the chalet. It operates at approximately hourly intervals. If you prefer to use your car, there is free parking in Ste Foy station, or you can head further afield.....

Drive just 10 minutes to the free parking in Villaroger and join the Paradiski lift system home to Les Arcs and La Plagne.

15 minutes in the car gets you to the free parking in Tignes la Brevieres and access to the Espace Killy including Val d'Isere.

Or alternatively you can reach La Rosiere in just under 30 mins and hop over to Italy's own La Thuile for lunch. Rooms are configured as follows.

Room 1: Entrance level, has a king size bed, and an ensuite walk in shower and basin. The wc is located just outside the bedroom door in the corridor. There is space to add a cot or a small child's bed. It has a balcony and looks over the garden to meadows below. TV with french and English channels.

Room 2: Entrance level, has two 90cm beds which can be configured into a king , or left as singles. There is a third 80 cm bed which is elevated and fixed into the wall. This is suitable for a child or small adult. In addition there is plenty of space to add a cot . The room has a balcony with limited views. Plenty of built in storage. TV with Ffrench and English channels. There is a bathroom located next door in the hallway which features a large bath, walk in shower, basin and WC.

Room 3: Which is on the floor below the entrance, has a separate door leading to balcony with stairs to the garden. It has a king sized bed and also a sofa bed which is a full sized divan with a pull out drawer. If only 1 full sized bed is used there is space for a cot . The ensuite bathroom has a small bath with a shower, a basin and WC. This also has a TV with French and English channels .

Room 4: The mezzanine area is galleried above the lounge . There are 2 distinct areas which are configured as a double snug and a twin snug . Both have limited head height and the mattress are located 5cm from the floor . There is a TV up there, and a toy cupboard with selection of books, toys and games. There is a small shower room with shower, sink and WC. This area can be used for teenagers, kids or adults, but of course gets some noise when the lounge is being used. There is a possibility to move the beds to the centre of the mezzanine and put on legs, meaning ample head height but less privacy. we can configure this to suit your needs, just let us know. Light comes to the mezzanine via the main lounge and also skylight velux . This has a TV and DVD player with use media slot.

We can offer a reduced rate if you do not need bedroom 3 for your party, dependant on time of the season, please ask for details.

The kitchen is modern and well equipped with, dishwasher, induction hob, oven, microwave, 2 fridge/freezers, Nespresso coffee machine, cafitiere, pierrade, raclette and fondue equipment. As well as a huge selection of cooking baking and serving ware. There is a large breakfast bar which comfortably seats 7, and is often the hub of the action.

The lounge, kitchen and dining area is all open plan with a surface area of approx 80m2, half of which has 5m high exposed roof, and picture windows over looking the mountains. It has large siding doors and balcony to south and west. There is a dining table with 10 chairs, as well as comfy seating for 10 as well as some bean bags and huge shaggy rugs for lounging in front of the fire or TV which has your choice of TNT, Freesat or USB port to add your Apple Or Google TV or hard drive.

The entrance has a porch with a coded lock where you can lock your ski equipment, there is plenty of space under the stairs to store your boots to keep them warm and dry. There is a washing machine and tumble dryer. The chalet has a private garden to keep little ones amused.

The Chalet is accessed via a steep path, which mostly sits under the eaves of our neighbours house, but when it snows it will need clearing, there is a shovel and a stiff broom as well as grit so that you can ensue the access stays safe for you and your party. If we are passing, we will do this for you, but we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do this as the snow falls. Parking for the chalet is located about 100m away accross the main road in the municipal parking, although there is room to stop load and unload on a daily basis outside the chalet at the top of the path.

Also included

WIFI. Although La Thuile is not on broadband, and the bandwidth is painfully slow for downloading or uploading any rich content. It will allow approx 8 devices to function at any one time.

Basic cooking and cleaning supplies, such as herbs and spices, sponges cloths, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, starting loo rolls are included. We can provide you with a full list of what is already here to help your planning.

Linen, 1 bath sheet and 1 hand towel per person, beds are made for your arrival.

Fire wood, kindling and fire lighters.

Free sat UK TV or french TNT in the lounge.

All rooms have a hairdryer.

Cot with mattress, highchair, potty, child step, child friendly cutlery crockery and a booster seat all available at no extra charge.

There is an induction to the house and how it works to make sure that you are safe and comfortable during your stay. There is also an operation manual and loads of simple pictorial instruction cards to help you use everything and stop your brain from being overloaded!

At an extra charge

It is possible for you to do your shopping online in Super U in bourg at Maurice, we are able to deliver this to the chalet pre your arrival for a 10% or Minimum €20 charge. A generic log-in can be provided so that we are permitted to collect on your behalf.

If you feel like you need some extra cleaning during the week, please let us know and we can arrange at €20 per hour. Change of linen can be arranged at an additional cost.

We are more than happy to give you the details of private chefs or caterers in the are who can provide anything from a gala dinner to a simple hot pre prepared dish delivered to the chalet.

If you prefer eating out there are a selection of restaurants in the station, one in Ste Foy Village, and an enormous choice in Bourg. For something extra special there is Chez Merie just over in Le Miroir (6km).

A damage deposit of €1500 is payable on arrival. Check out service is provided where we will check the chalet over to ensure that we can return your security deposit. We kindly ask that you put all items back in their original places to speed this process up.

About Tamsin Brown

We met in Val d'Isere where Hamish was working with the ski school and Tamsin was a chalet girl. We moved down to La Thuile in 2007 where we lived and worked on the Chalet and Apartment below for the last 8 years. Hamish still ski instructs in the winter and renovates properties in the summer. Tamsin still works in the Chalet business and looks after 3 soon to be 4 children. We are only 10 minutes away and are always on hand to answer any questions or queries that you have on the chalet or local area.

Why Tamsin Brown chose Val d'Isere - Tignes - Sainte Foy

The chalet is an 1870 grange converted into a family home. Set on 4 levels connected by handmade wooden staircase, many of the original features and wood remain blended with modern fixtures and fittings. There is a large kitchen/dining/lounge area with picture windows and balconies allowing plenty of light, space and views of the mountains, as well as a large wood burning stove. The chalet is finished to a high standard with underfloor heating, comfy beds, feather and down duvets and pillows and all the mod cons you would expect to find in high end ski chalets. Chalet Marron offers groups of families and friends an opportunity relax in a comfortable and spacious surroundings without the presence of staff, which is a very rare find (we are however only 15 minutes or a phone call away should you need us for any aspect of your holiday).

Chalet Marron can comfortably sleep 8 adults between the 3 bedrooms and mezzanine area, as you will see from the individual room descriptions it is possible to use the extra beds in the rooms as you wish. Please do bare in mind it's a Chalet not a hotel , and has domestic appliances and the house is ideally suited for 8-10 people , possibly 12 if there are small children.

"Very cozy spacious apartment. Excellent location with a short ride to Val D'Isere. We enjoyed coming back to this place at the long day of skiing to enjoy the scenery around and a scent of classic Savoy village. During our 10 day stay we went on exploring hiking paths around the village and spend time reading in the garden outside. The apartment has excellent set of cooking utensils. It was stuffed with everything one might need in a kitchen including spices, cleaning and packaging supplies. Overall it is the best skiing apartment we ever stayed in the last 15 years. It felt like we came to a house of a good friends who took care of anything we might need during a skiing vacation. I'm sure this place is a gem in any season. Tamsin is excellent and flexible host. She is there when you might need her advice but makes sure you do not feel like the landlord lives just above you. I would love to keep it as my "best kept secret". Enjoy it!"

Loads of space, had a great time

Compared with most French ski resort accommodation this apartment is huge! Space for your stuff, really comfortable beds, two bathrooms, two bedrooms and expansion space if there are more than four of you – plus room for you all to sit around the fire in the evenings. The apartment is part of a recently (and very well) converted barn in a mountain village near Ste Foy ski station. This is an excellent base for family ski-ing and the length and quality of the pistes are first-rate, and also give access to lots of good off-piste ski-ing. If you want to spend quite a lot more money on a lift pass, then it’s easy to catch the bus up to Val d’Isère and Tignes for some of the best French high alp ski-ing.

The apartment is also a short drive or bus ride down the valley to Bourg St Maurice, which gives access to the Les Arcs /La Plagne ski system, and where the shops and restaurants charge sensible prices – important when you are self-catering.

We stayed here in late spring as well – the river Isère flows below, down a wild-flower strewn meadow and there is a garden for barbecues and sunbathing. There are woodland walks straight out of the house.

I've stayed here several times - a recommendation in itself.

The apartment is the ground floor of a beautifully renovated traditional stone building, with lots more space than you usually find in ski resorts. The living area is comfortable & cosy, with a very efficient wood-burner (easy to use, too). There's an extremely well-equipped kitchen area, and both the bathrooms have baths as well as good showers. There's also a nice little garden - snowbaling in winter, barbeques in summer. Everything is clean, well maintained & well thought out.

Tamsin & Hamish are great hosts - friendly without being intrusive, and really knowledgable about the local area. (And, for a proper treat, try Tamsin's cooking.)

Ste Foy is a real gem - beautiful scenery, good slopes for beginners, & you can ski down through the woods. There's a free bus service from just over the road from the apartment.

This is a really relaxed & relaxing place to stay - absolutely ideal for families or for anyone who wants to get away from the bustle of Val d'Isere.

Seller Family holiday

Whether you're partaking in snow sports or just visiting the area as we were this apartment has everything. It has the best of olde worlde character and modern up-to-date equipment and furnishings.

The main bedroom is large with a wonderfully comfortable king-sized double bed (and extra beds for kids if needed). The ensuite has lovely underfloor heating, a useable bath for once and a powerful shower. There is another bathroom next to the second double bedroom with similar facilities.

We especially loved the comfie open-plan living area where the four of us (two couples) spent many happy hours cooking, eating, chatting, enjoying the view and changing weather on the mountain-side opposite, watching some of the many DVDs provided, and feeding the efficient wood-burning stove which we loved. The wifi was very useful too.

We're not sporty but believe this area has efficient/free links to many ski slopes and resorts which we did visit and enjoyd a few meals out.

A cosy appartment in skiing's best kept secret!

This appartment is on the ground floor of an old house in the village close to the ski resort of St Foye. It is very cosy and peaceful, with a well equipped kitchen, comfortable living area, huge double bedroom and modern ensuite. Everything is provided, down to a vast collection of DVD's and books. However, we never had time to use these, because St Foye is a lovely little resort. The centre is a short free bus ride away, and has several nice cafes and shops, and excellent nursery slopes. The area has masses of off piste skiing. Although there are only a few main pistes, they are all excellent and well groomed. There are also miles of winter walking and snow shoeing paths which we enjoyed. And the appartment was just what we needed at the end of a strenuous day! We can highly recommend this appartment for active couples. Thanks to Tamsin and Hamish for making our stay so enjoyable.

Notes:
Chalet Marron is located off a cobbled street, and has a 20m steep access path. The path is cleared from snow on a daily basis, when we are around, but is not suitable for anyone unsteady on their feet. All Basic herbs, spices and cleaning products are provided as well as quality towels and linen. Shopping can be delivered from the supermarket direct to the Chalet before your arrival. We can provide you with a detailed list of whats included to ensure that you don't waste valuable space! We can also offer a full catering service or even the odd home cooked meal delivered to your door or left in the slow cooker for your return. Duvets are feather, but we can easily provide allergy free on request. There is also a safe place to store ski equipment and bikes. In the Spring and Summer time, enjoy the garden with gas BBQ and views of the mountains.
