About Butch Daniel or Deb Nilsson

Hi, Welcome to Saxon Mountain Retreat! After living in Breckenridge for 27 years (let it snow, snow, snow) we needed to find a more sane and relaxing location. This is Georgetown! At Saxon Mountain, we found the PERFECT home for our active lifestyle-hiking and biking right from our front door. We especially like NOT having to live with a snow shovel in my purse. We LOVE the evening walks to see the deer, fox and other critters that abound. We know you will love our custom home and its spaciousness, warmth and many momentos from our travels!

Butch Daniel or Deb Nilsson purchased this house in 2003

Why Butch Daniel or Deb Nilsson chose Front Range Colorado

Georgetown is centrally located for all of the Rocky Mountain outdoor recreation activites we could want plus we have 7 world class ski resorts within a hours drive. There is historic Central City and Blackhawk casinos within the hour. Two nation scenic byways, 4 fourteeners, gold and silver mines, museums, and hot springs are all right here or very close by.

What makes this house unique

Besides the hiking, Mountain Biking and wildlife exposure that starts right at the front door, we can fish in Clear Creek or walk the Continental Divide. It's nice to be able to quickly get to Denver for a Bronco game, or a Rockies baseball game and then come home to peace and quiet, cool summer air and great neighbors. For the small business or corporate meeting it is perfect also for intense personal training or education.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us! The peaceful and quiet setting was so relaxing---we enjoyed watching the deer on the mountainside. The kids loved the hot tub and the pool table. Skiing at Loveland was totally awesome! We hope to return again--God Bless--the Wesker family and the Taff Family

Excellent!

  • 5 of 5

The house worked very well for our family. There was very adequate, comfortable places for everyone in our family to sleep. The kitchen set- up was wonderful and gave us plenty of room to cook (we enjoyed the grill outside twice) and the two large dining room tables gave everyone a place to sit. The large tables were also perfect for playing games! We appreciated the coffee maker and other kitchen amenities. The bathrooms were very nice. We also made good use of the laundry facilities and the hot tub. We enjoyed using the tv's in the living room and lower leval room. We made good use of the garage and the view was wonderful! Thank you for providing our family with the perfect place to enjoy our stay in Colorado!

We had a great vacation! The house is spacious with plenty of seating for both eating and relaxing. Perfect location to be able to take day trips to visit most places in Colorado. The owners were very nice and quick to respond to any questions. Overall a great experience.

A great place for large families

  • 5 of 5

Your lodge was a perfect fit for our large extended family of 21 to stay in as we were part of wedding in Littleton Co over the weekend of June 4. The kitchen handled our needs by allowing more than one cook in the kitchen and ample seating for everyone to eat and be in the same room together. After the wedding we extended our time by taking a week of vacation-so much to see and do in and around Georgetown. It was a great week of adventure and sight seeing in Georgetown, Idaho Springs, Estes Park, Denver, and Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park. Your lodge is comfortable and inviting to come back to after our days of seeing and doing colorful Colorado. Thank you for the wonderful memories and good times we had because we were able to be together in one place that could accommodate us all. The lodge is clean, well stocked and nicely furnished. Deb and Butch were very easy to work with and answered all of our questions promptly and our stay was very enjoyable. We would stay there again.

Beautiful home with plenty of room

  • 5 of 5

Our wedding at your home was a huge success! We stayed at the house afterwards with extended family. We all had plenty of room and privacy. The only issue was we were unable to get the tv downstairs to connect to the dish, but with the free wifi, pool table, and hot tub, the kids really didn't need tv. Thanks, we really enjoyed our stay.

Absolutely amazing! Perfect location, scenery beautiful and seeing wildlife was awesome!

  • 5 of 5

My sisters and I brought our 82 yo father home to visit. He grew up in Colorado and would travel home every year to visit, however his age will not allow him to travel that far anymore! So 6 of his daughters along with a few of his grandchildren brought him back to visit! This house was the perfect vacation! The view was absolutely gorgeous, the downstairs was perfect for the grandchildren with the added bonus of hot tub! To walk out front door and hike Saxton Mountain or drive down into town, which was actually walking distance! The house was plenty big and stocked with plenty of towels and kitchen needs! The huge tables provided for family games and social time! The bonus of the entire trip was when the Big Horn Sheep came down the mountain, perfect view from large windows in house and to watch them walk into the yard and graze...absolutely amazing! Would totally come back here and stay again!!! The owners were gracious and easy to work with, thankful for them to open up their home so my family could make memories!

Beautiful property with lots of space!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I actually got married in the mountains this weekend and stayed at this property with some family and friends. This place was excellent; I love the master bedroom with private bathroom. We felt at home in this place. We had a walking taco dinner with lots of food on Saturday night and there was plenty of room. The beds and pillows were super comfy as well. Would stay again.
