Guestbook comments from the owner

It is nicely done out and comfortable. The house is so convenient for the beach and shops. We can recommend No.31. Thank you so much for getting the fridge freezer. It was essential for us.

The house and garden have proved to be the right thing for four adults and four children. The beach was brilliant for us all - good for swimming or playing and using our dinghy.

Lovely, clean and cosy house and in a very good location

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at teal house. It's in a great location, not far from the car park and sea front. The house itself is very nicely presented and clean, and included everything that we may have needed. The back garden is fab and would have been great for food and drinks in the evenings, if we'd had better weather!

Mark the host was very helpful and very quick to respond to any communication.

Thank you and we will definitely be staying again in the future.

Cosy comfortable relaxing and spacious

  • 5 of 5

Ideally located, only a 5 minute, if that, walk to the Lyme Regis' beautiful high street, lovely little shops, plus the stunning seafront. Comfortable living room, and very comfortable beds. Good size kitchen. House had a nice cosy atmosphere, but not claustrophobic. The walk from the car park to the house can be tough going, so be prepared for that. Look in the guests review book, that will tell you how the TV works. Upstairs shower doesn't have a lock. And the front door and be a bit tricky to open. However these are just minor gripes. Overall a beautiful house and everything you need. My Family and I throughly enjoyed our stay at the house and as ever the stunning Lyme Regis. Thank you

Excellent location.

  • 4 of 5

This property was brilliant for the local amenities and close proximity to the beach and town centre. The house itself was clean, tidy and welcoming and had all the equipment that was expected. It was easy to drop off our belongings and then park car in the car park which was minutes away up a steep but short hill (which was no problem). Would definitely recommend this property. If a large party looking for somewhere to eat I would recommend you book in advance.

Excellent property, perfect location, great owners

  • 4 of 5

A few friends used this holiday home as the base for our walking trip along the South West way and Jurassic coastline. Many restaurants nearby; The Mill is strongly recommended but make sure you book up in advance as it's a busy little town. some good pubs in town with many local beers. All in all, perfect for our needs and thank you Mark for being so helpful.

Our second family stay at Teal house, last time was five years ago. We enjoyed it just as much, had a wonderful time, property was very homely, warm and comfortable we felt very relaxed and a bonus being so close to the sea.

Cosy cottage, great location.

  • 4 of 5

Perfect accommodation for our few days in Lyme Regis. Parking was easy just up the hill and the house is so close to the the town, beach, cafes & shops. Lovely garden, comfy beds. Some nice garden furniture and a washing line might be handy, but Teal House is as it looks in the photos, comfy & cosy, a little bit tired in places, but perfect for a beach side family holiday. Thank you Mark.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the kind words. The garden furniture could do with updating, so thanks for highlighting this. There should be a rotary dryer in the garden. I'll check and make sure its in place. Mark

Car: not necessary

Easily accessible, and only three hours from London and the Midlands, Lyme Regis is away from it all, nestling in the unspoilt West Dorset countryside. Part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, and surrounded by areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lyme Regis, the “Pearl of Dorset”, is famous for its fossils, its historic old town, its Cobb and its beaches. And now it's a destination for food lovers, with Hix Oyster and Fish House in the town, and River Cottage HQ and Axminster Canteen both close by.

The old town, dating back to the 14th century, is an ideal place to walk and explore the local shops, art galleries, newly replanted gardens with myriad places to stop to eat and drink. Built around the River Lym, Lyme has its own working Water Mill, recently refurbished to include an electricity generator. Lyme Regis is very special in that it is probably the smallest town in the country to boast its own cinema, theater, and museum.

The Cobb attracts visitors – not just for its visual splendor and its magnificent naval architecture, but also for its connections with great literature. Indeed, people come from all over the world to see the steps where Louisa Musgrove fell in Jane Austen’s Persuasion; or to see where Meryl Streep stood, looking forlornly out to sea, in the film adaptation of John Fowles’ The French Lieutenant’s Woman. And art lovers are drawn to Lyme for both its beautiful scenery and for its wide range of art galleries.

Holiday makers will enjoy a family-friendly, sandy beach and an often-surprising micro-climate in the shelter of Lyme Bay. Marine Parade is a great place to walk, sit, enjoy the views and visit its small shops and eating places. Here the seafront facilities will soon benefit from restoration of the Marine Parade Shelters, ready for summer 2011. The town and surrounding area have many attractions and host a range of family-centred events, including a Jazz Festival, a Fossil Festival, Life Boat Week and a Regatta & Carnival Week.

For visitors who have had enough of the hurly-burly, and need to escape, there are many delightful places to stay to suit all budgets. You will be able to enjoy walks in the surrounding countryside and there are many opportunities to go out on a boat to view the glorious coastline from the sea or to fish in the clear waters of Lyme Bay.
