About Katy Dale
I grew up spending my summer at this cabin while my dad built it from the ground up! This was truly a labor of love for my mom and dad and was their get-away for 25 years. My mom is no longer with us and my husband and I have taken over the cabin. I'm an architectural designer in Minneapolis and we spent 2016 fixing it up into a true retreat, now with modern conveniences like a dishwasher (so excited!) and large water heater (no more 1 minute showers!). We love the process of making homes beautiful and functional and feel rewarded when others get to enjoy that work. So we decided to start sharing the cabin so you can make this your special retreat too, and hope you will fall in love with it and keep coming back so we can continue to make improvements for all of us to enjoy. We look forward to sharing this unique place with you.

Peaceful, bright and cozy escape
Lovely, bright and well-appointed place settled up over the 8th Crow Wing Lake. Modern, cozy, clean and lots of windows. We were there for some bicycling in the area, and the Hideaway is located convenient to many of the area attractions. The owners were responsive, everything was as it was described, and we would definitely stay here again.
From outside looks like ordinary cabin, private. Like the view from deck. It’s what is inside that I loved. So clean, comfortable and inviting, great kitchen, dining and living area. Large windows all around to take in lake views and woods. Bedrooms very comfortable and the bathroom is amazing. Lower level is great if you have teens, a place of their own. Every thing you need is in this cabin. Kitchen is well stocked ( of course bring your own food) everything else is covered.
Great cabin for short get away
We had a great time at this cabin. Plenty of space for the two of us and our lab.
Loved our stay. Such a beautiful location. Look forward to coming back next year. Great stocked kitchen and we loved the new swivel chairs:)
Great place! It was nice and secluded in the woods but still close to attractions! My family and I enjoyed our stay, the home had everything we needed and more!
We loved our stay. The place was exactly as described. Great get away for our little family. Katy was very responsive with all my questions.
Nevis, population 301 and home to the worlds largest Tiger Muskie, is just over a 5 minute drive from the cabin. Lot's of small town character to enjoy - Pop'n Chop's Bakery is the newest addition but get there before they sell out! Muskie Waters is a cute coffee and candy shop, The Iron Horse is our favorite BBQ dinner spot. They have a great patio that is bursting with energy on a hot summer night. Nevis hosts the annual Muskie Days, usually at the end of July, with all kinds of activities great for families.
There are many other activities to enjoy in the area. Head up to Itasca State Park, about 45 minutes from the cabin, where you can walk across the Headwaters of the Mississippi! This is a must see! Itasca also offers bike and boat rentals to explore the park, picnic areas and playgrounds.
Golfers can enjoy any of the 5 courses within 10-20 minutes of the cabin. Many offer discounted Twilight rates which can be a beautiful time to be on the course.
Forestedge Winery is a mere 25 minutes from the cabin and is a great way to relax away the afternoon while learning how they take advantage of the fruits Minnesota has to offer.
