Actually located just 20 meters from the magnificent Piazza San Marco: you just have to cross the Ponte dei Dai which is next to the famous Caffè Quadri.
The Rialto Bridge is only 10 minutes walk from the house. Here is the famous fish market and fruit which they can truly savor the authentic atmosphere of Venetian life.
You will find yourself really in the city center, walk you can reach the most important museums and monuments; the Basilica of San Marco, the Palazzo Ducale, the Campanile, the Correr Museum, the Accademia Gallery, the Guggenheim Museum, the Art Biennale, the Churches.

The famous beach of the Lido of Venice and its Palazzo del Cinema can be reached in 15 minutes by water.
From the outside, like lots of the other houses, it did not look very impressive but once inside it was up to date and very modern. Biggest draw back was the five flights of stairs which we had not realised about. Description did say top floor but not how many floors.
First of all, our host (Lidia) was so helpful and kind. She met us at the boat landing and escorted us to the apartment. She explained everything in detail and provided great advice on how to be efficient and comfortable in the apartment. She had great recommendations for restaurants and assured us that she was only a phone call away.
The apartment was fantastic. All of the appliances worked as described and the space was open and useful. The bathroom was very smartly laid out and the shower plenty large enough to move around without bumping the sides. All of the windows open to let the cool breeze blow through. When there is no breeze, the apartment's air conditioning system did a great job of keeping the apartment cool so that sleeping was not hampered by the heat outside.
The apartment is a short walk from S. Marco Square and all the connecting boat terminals. Getting around and back was easy and the centrality of the apartment made it nice to start each day near the center of everything. Just a head's up; the apartment is on the top floor so be ready for a stair climb. For us, it was only a challenge on the day we took our luggage up. Other than that, it was just part of the wonder of Venice.
Our July, 2016, stay at Casa Corte delle Ancore was wonderful. It was as described in the Home Away Ad…….everything we expected and more. There are views of the canal and St Mark’s Bell Tower from the windows. The apartment is spacious, spotless, and cool, with the conveniences of updates but still the charm of the original home. The location could not be better……just steps away from restaurants, sites, St. Mark’s Square, shopping, transports, and more.
Lidia met us at the water taxi and we made our way to Casa Corte, a very short distance away. She explained everything we needed to know about the apartment and answered all our questions about Venice……..and believe me, she knows Venice.
Our month long trip included four countries. We stayed in apartments, on a ship, and in hotels. None compared to the quiet quaintness and conveniences of Lidia’s family apartment.
Lidia, we definitely recommend this apartment and would stay there again. You were so very nice and helpful from the day we inquired about your property through the duration of our stay. Thank you!

Right from our initial enquiry, Lidia responded to all e-mails within two hours: she met us from the Alilaguna boat stop at San Marco , only 5 minutes walk from the apartment and over one small bridge : a real bonus when you have suitcases.
The apartment was amazing - it had been Lidia's grandparents home and she and her husband have renovated it to a very high standard. It is light and spacious, immaculately clean and maintained. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need, and the whole home beautifully styled with a mix of antique and modern furniture.
The location was spot on : less than a minute through an archway directly into Piazza San Marco , but tucked away from all the hustle and bustle so very peaceful and secure.
Lidia took time ensuring we knew how everything worked, how to get to the nearest supermarket, suggesting cafes and restaurants and making us feel very much at home on our first, but definitely not our last, visit to Venice. Thoroughly recommend this property and hope to return very soon.
A huge thank you, Lidia, for your kindness. Bravissima !.
I must apologize for the LATE review!!! We actually stayed in Lidia's beautiful apartment in the end of June 2014. From the moment we stepped off the water taxi, Lidia was there to greet and escort us to her beautiful family apartment.
I personally am very particular and this apartment met and exceeded all expectations. It was CLEAN. It was beautiful, comfortable, all amenities one could require were there. And most importantly to any traveller, the location was spot on...right in the very heart of Venice, steps to San Marco. Lidia took the time to help us become familiar with maps, restaurants, etc. She is a gem. She was very accessible when we needed her.
You will not be disappointed. We hope to return one day soon :)
Mille grazi Lidia,

First, the host was wonderful. Very responsive and helpful, just a really nice person. The location and the apartment are perfect. Highly recommend apartment. Two things to consider, it is on the top floor with no elevator, which is common in Venice. So if you can't do 3 to 4 flights of stairs, reconsider. Also, if you are 6'4", the shower is tight, but manageable since it is a tub/shower combo. The apartment has been recently renovated, so it is clean and nice. We had a wonderful time in Venice.
'And' our family home: we have renovated in 2011 by recovering the ancient beams of the ceiling, keeping the historical furniture paralleling existing functionality of the modern. We decided to rent it to those of us who love peace, captures the pleasure of listening to the chimes of the clock and see from their windows the San Marco bell tower that rises above the Magistrates. The house is located just 20 meters from Piazza San Marco, 5 minutes walk from Rialto and its market, in the heart of Venice. Although central, is located in a very quiet and secluded courtyard. '
'Venice is a city of art and Piazza San Marco is his living room: the dwelling is located in a position where all the churches, museums and art galleries can be found within walking distance. The La Fenice theater is located just 5 minutes as well as the famous shopping promenade of the big names: Calle Larga XXII Marzo. Venice has also its beach, the Lido, where it takes place in the month of September the Film Festival: the Lido can be reached from the house by using public transport (vaporetti) in about twenty minutes.
