Description of Historic Heritage Place
18-22 Water Street is a Second Empire style, three story, wooden home that has been converted into apartments. Built in 1871 by John Roach Bourke for his son, the home is located on the historic Charlottetown waterfront.
The home has a spectacular view of the Charlottetown harbor. The beautiful building is located on a section of Water Street that contains a high concentration of heritage homes. 18-22 Water Street is a vital part of the Water Street streetscape and over the years ran into disrepair. In 2010, the owners Gretha Rose and Derrick Walker, bought the property and began the long road of renovations. In 2015, they received the Jewel Heritage Award for their work in preserving this historic building and this important part of history.
