The deck is wonderful, the bed nice, and the towels were great.

This apartment had the basics but nothing more. The bed was nice and balcony wonderful. The apartment shares space with another apartment below making this seem a bit like a dorm. We had one group of young ladies staying below us that came in late and were noisy. The Kitchen only had one plate (there were two of us!) and there were no bowls. We ate our soup straight from the pot. There is no TV nor a chair or couch to sit in other than the folding chairs at the table. Having said that, the location was excellent and the large balcony was everything you could hope for.

Spring time vaca

Apartment deck was awesome! Great view of the ocean. You can hear the waves crashing at night and enjoy this beautiful town from this awesome deck. Celcia was a great person to talk to and get some history about the town. I would recommend this little gem to anyone wanting to enjoy the area.

Great guesthouse with amazing sea views!

  • 4 of 5

The guesthouse was accurately described and although small, was a good size for a couple. The best part was definitely the view from the balcony!

The only thing that could have made it better would be access to wi-fi.

Outstanding View!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Riomaggiore was fabulous! We found a place just off the main street in town with a gorgeous view of the water. We had a kitchen a bedroom, and a rooftop deck. There was no wifi. The rooftop deck was the best part of the stay. We ate dinner out of the roof multiple nights. We were about a 5 minute walk to the train which can take you to each town. We opted to hike most of the time so we took the train to Monterosso and hiked back to Corniglia in one day. The trail between Riomaggiore and Manarola was closed during our trip, but we still managed to make it to all 5 towns. Riomaggiore is the perfect place to stay if you plan to explore the area because it is a small working-class town with just enough excitement to allow for relaxation. The apartment we stayed in was perfect for us because we were out and about so much that coming home to a air conditioned room and a beautiful view of the sea was the perfect way to end each day. Be sure to leave time for the hot water heater to heat up before taking a shower. We used Rick Steves’ walking tour of town to get to know the area. We found that it was probably the most overlooked town by other tourists. We paid at departure.

Thank you for a great stay!

Great Little Place, Fantastic Terrace View

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I went here for part of our honeymoon. We traveled by train from Rome making the switch in La Spezia to take the local train to Cinque Terre. Make sure you know how to read a schedule to be sure you get on the right one at the station. There was many a panicked traveler trying to find the right train, ourselves included. Finding the right train, the first stop will be Riomaggiore. You are immediately greeted by the sea just a short wall and quick drop from the platform.

Ugo came to collect us after we called the provided number. His English was better than my forgotten Italian, but we were able to figure it out. Be prepared to walk a bit, hopefully you've read enough of Rick Steves' book or other guides so you should be prepared to do it since you are in the region.

After walking through the tunnel to the main thoroughfare, walking past a few shops and turning at the fast food pizza place, up a few staircases, along the narrow streets, down a staircase and you are there.

We found the apartment perfect for our needs as a couple. A large comfortable if firm bed, two burner stove and a decent bathroom. But the interior is not why we chose the place. Walk out into the covered patio where a table and chairs are set for if the weather is bad, or a morning breakfast. From there its a small staircase and essentially a window sized door to the outside terrace. Those who have balance or back problems may find it hard to bend through the door. Watch your head. The terrace is spacious, probably larger than the apartment itself. You could have a nice party there if you make enough friends in your time in the region. There are sheets to provide shade when it gets too hot, a couple lounge chairs, plastic table and chairs to enjoy. The view is fantastic.

All the plates, silverware, pots, pans, sheets, and towels were provided. A two shot stovetop espresso pot is also provided. A hotel sized refrigerator is also in the apartment. There is an A/C unit.

There were only four things we found problematic.

1. The second burner on the stove was broken. (Ugo warned us)

2. The hot water heater is tiny and its best to not run it constantly if showering consecutively, do and on off method between lathering

3. The TV had to channel reception at all, even though according to Rick Steves, the whole town went cable recently.

4. Cash only.

We enjoyed our stay here and recommend it for any other honeymooner, young or old.

Thanks Gian and Ugo.

nur teilweise geeignet

  • 3 of 5
