What a wonderful week we had in Maine. We had our 7th annual family reunion on Worthley Pond. 19 family members with a vast age span. We enjoyed the pond with swimming, other water activities, cookouts and fires at night to roast marshmallows, make sommores and to catch up on the past year with all of our family members. The younger members of our family even got in a memorable day trip at Storyland. The older generation enjoyed the spacious home, beach paddle boat and even getting their feet wet.We will return again possilby in the winter to enjoy the ski season. Thank you Donna and Mike for the Hospitality.
We spent a wonderful week at Donna & Mike's Tudor home. It was extremely spacious and well equipped with everything, and more , that we needed for our family of 2 "Seniors", 4 adults and 2 children. The front yard was super for yard games, cook-outs and night time chats around the fire pit. Worthley Pond was refreshing and relaxing, and our granddaughter loved being able to jump off the raft and take rides in the canoe. We hope to return again for another delightful vacation. We would not hesitate to recommend this great home to others, not only in Summer, but for any time of the year!
This house is perfect for large families and several kids. Property has a great view of the lake with a large yard for playing games, roasting marshmallows in the fire pit or barbequing. Early mornings were spent in the front room off the kitchen watching the sun rise. The kitchen is a cook's dream with all new appliances and two living rooms with board games and toys for rainy days. My sister and I had our 9 children and fit them all easily at the multiple dinner tables. Multiple bedrooms and beds for everyone. The kids would spend all day on the lake, swimming and kayaking. This property was equipped with everything a home could have to offer. We hated to leave but look forward to making this our new favorite vacation spot!
We selected this home for over-flow sleeping for our family reunion. It was terrific - very large rooms, very clean and well-appointed. We comfortably slept 14. The kids loved having their own space to watch TV and play games - while the adults enjoyed chatting around the large dining table. Loved the large kitchen, with tons of storage space - but my absolutely favorite was the HUGE master bedroom. The views of the pond were amazing.
Grounds were also very well maintained. We initially were concerned it might be noisy so close to the camp grounds but the only noises we heard at night were from loons and other wildlife. Weather was picture perfect!!
If you like pizza, try Towle's Corner Store - delicious!! They even deliver but only until 5 PM. We also enjoyed "The Bus" on Worthley Pond. Their lobster rolls were terrific.
If we could change one thing, we would add a restaurant or two in the immediate area. We missed the store/restaurant that use to be on the left as you entered E. Shore Drive.
We wouldn't hesitate to rent this property again and would definitely recommend it to family and friends.
Thank you Donna!!
Our family so enjoyed our week in your enormous lake home! The house was so big we were all able to spread out and take naps each day with plenty of rooms and beds! The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, very well appointed. We were especially pleased to find the home so clean- sparkling floors are a relief when your group has 5 young children! We had such a great time on the jazz boats and paddle boats, fishing, and swimming. The lake was warm and clean, the kids really loved jumping off the swim dock! Thank you both again for a perfect Maine vacation. We left with many happy memories of our trip and your lovely home!
I have nothing but good things to say about staying at Donna's house on Worthley Pond. My group has been doing winter trips here for over 10 years. The house is more than large enough for our group of 10+. Very spacious common areas provide plenty of seating for a group meal but separate spaces if folks want a quiet spot to read, chat or watch TV. Five bedrooms and 2.5 baths means that everyone has a proper bed and privacy. The house is fully outfitted and we have never needed for anything. It is always ready and warmed up for us, with the driveway and walk plowed. I have never had any complaints.
As far as the area goes, there is plenty to do. Ice fishing, cross country skiing, snowmobiling, winter hiking are all right there. Some of our group drives to Sunday River for downhill skiing, about 30 min away, where they also have a groomed x-ski system. I typically go out the back door and ski powder in the woods for hours, never seeing another person. The snow is pretty reliable in the area and temps low, which is the way that it should be in February. It is a very quiet and scenic area so quite peaceful and relaxing. It is a relatively easy, if longer drive from Boston, but well worth it. I avoid the mobs in NH and VT.
I've yet to try it in the summer but I am considering it when my daughter and her family comes to visit next summer. All in all 5 stars.
