I never thought that we actually would stay Inside Castelo de Estremoz and stayed I one of the Casa de Castelo. It was quite nice surprise☺ Castle House is Unique, we had everything we need in there. It's good location too, walking distance to get to Centro of Estremoz. The owner (Rodrigo) is very friendly and very helpful during our stay. For all, we had a great holiday at Estremoz 💜
Our stay in the Castle Wall apartment was one of the highlights of our 3 week tour of Portugal and Spain. We were greeted by Filipa, a friend of the owner, who was so warm in welcoming us and so helpful throughout our visit, that she felt like a friend and good neighbor by the time we left. Part of a 500 year old house, the apartment has been lovingly restored, retaining its arched doorways, deep recessed windows, and old fireplace wall. When we shut up the window and door at night, we could appreciate how it migot have felt to live within a castle wall hundreds of years ago. At the same time, however, the ancient space has a well laid out kitchen area and bath, and a cozy sitting room and bedroom, making for a very comfortable stay. We also enjoyed the narrow little terrace with views onto the lower town and countryside beyond.
The old upper town of Estremoz is built of marble and was breathtaking when we drove up through the drawbridge and saw it glowing in the sun for the first time. It's perfectly located for exploring the area. We just wish we could have stayed longer.
Large appartment with window view on a little town square on front side, and window town view on the back. Situated in historic town center uphill, very central in the area. Evora, Elvas, and Monsaraz were well worth their visit. Hostess Neida was very helpfull showing us around.
If you see looking for the chance to get off the usual tourist track experience the real Portugal then do not miss touring the Alentejo region and staying at this wonderful apartment. We are a family of four and spent 4 night enjoying Neida's warm hospitality and generous spirit. The apartment is lovely- clean, well cared for, spacious, and located in a 500 year old building within Estremoz's castle walls. Neida helped arrange tours for us, brought us produce fresh from the garden, and sent us off feeling like we'd been adopted by our new Portugese grandmother. Estremoz and Alentejo are wonderful and quite undiscovered...but not for long! So don't miss the unique and unforgettable experience.
Such a historical place and so well preserved. Neida the owner has done a wonderful job renovating this very comfortable place and she did everything possible to make our stay in Estremoz very enjoyable. Her tomato soup is excellent! A place we would definitely would like to go back to.
Very comfortable apartment in a lovely setting high up above the town of Estremoz. Neida the host is charming and welcoming, and really tries to ensure you have a great stay, if you are lucky you will be offered some of her home cooked Alentejo dishes, not to be missed.
Cannot recommend this lovely home from home enough.
In Estremoz you can experience Alentejo at its fullest.
