About Mike and Tina

We aim to make your Irish vacation as enjoyable as possible.

Seeking advice re. region? day-trips? restaurants? travelling? etc. Please just ask. We will be happy to help.

Mike and Tina purchased this cottage in 2005

Why Mike and Tina chose County Clare

Quiet and peaceful on the village outskirts, backing onto the Atlantic Ocean with its changing moods, this fully equipped 3 bedroom property is perfect for your stay. Set 500 meters off the Wild Atlantic Way, mid-way between the Burren landscape and the Eden Tourist Award winning 'Loop Head' there's plenty day trips if you can drag yourself away from Shorehaven's peace and tranquility.

What makes this cottage unique

Unrestricted ocean view of the Atlantic of its ever changing moods and tides. Laze away in one of Shorehaven's hammocks or shoreside seats while lapping waters sooth your cares. The biggest decision? 'Will I have another beer...or opt for a glass of wine and some cheese...' :-)

What a fantastic place!!!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful views, unbelievable property owners! This place has it all! Amazing local restaurants, easy access to great tourist sites and did I mention the view. Beds were comfortable, house was clean on arrival and the owners tina and mike even left us a snack. I would totally come back here the problem is you never want to leave the house!

Amazing View

  • 5 of 5

Stayed at Shorehaven 3 nights early April 2017. We loved it! The house has everything you could need for a Family. Books, games for the kids, movies, but honestly every evening we would come back and the first thing we'd do was lit the fire, put a nice Jazz CD on, snuggle up on the veranda pour a glass of wine and just enjoy the view on the ocean. In the morning we couldn't wait to have breakfast there again!

Ireland is magical, Tina gave us great suggestions , the girls loved to play in their bunk beds and of course, Happy the horse, and adventure outside on the rocks on the ocean.

Shorehaven....what else! Thanks Mike and Tina

Amazing ocean views and proximity

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful stay at 'Shorehaven'. If you like the ocean, this is your place. At high tide, you're literally 50 feet from it! We spent most of our time in the oceanside solarium to make the most of that location, but the rest of the cottage was cozy and well equipped as well. Tina was very welcoming on our arrival. She went through the cottage particulars to make sure we knew where everything was and how it worked, and she had a nice welcome basket of snacks and treats as well as turf and wood set to go in the fireplace. We just had to light it!

We have family and friends in Quilty which made the location great for us, but even without that, you can't beat the proximity to Spanish Point, Miltown Malbay, Lahinch, Loop Head Peninsula, Cliffs of Moher,...the list goes on and on.

We had a wonderful stay at 'Shorehaven', and my daughter loved saying good morning to Peppy the horse across the road each morning!

Amazing Stay in Charming Cottage

  • 5 of 5

This was my family’s first trip to Ireland and we spent almost two weeks exploring the country. We spent our first five nights at Shorehaven and my husband, son and I all agree that staying here was definitely our favorite part of the trip. First, I want to say that Mike and Tina are just wonderful hosts! We flew in on an overnight flight to Dublin and immediately got into our rental car and drove across the country to start our vacation here. We were greeted by Mike – smiling and waving to us. It was so nice to walk into such a delightful, quaint and cozy cottage. It was the perfect start to our vacation. Mike showed us around the cottage and answered all of our questions. He even supplied us with a welcome basket with some yummy goodies. These were appreciated because we were tired and hungry, and it was nice not to have to rush out and find a place to eat. The cottage was very comfortable and such a great place to retreat after a day of sightseeing. The hardest part was trying to convince ourselves to actually get up and out. We all just wanted to stay in and watch the tide roll in and out. The views are absolutely amazing here and I mean AMAZING! If you find a place closer to the ocean, you’d have to be on a boat. The views are just something else. When you look one way you can see the Cliffs of Moher and you look the other way you see Mutton Island with ruins. We could also see the signals from lighthouses off the Aran Islands (I’m pretty sure that’s what we were seeing). We also visited when Ireland was experiencing record high temperatures, so we were able to walk along the beach when the tide was out and even wade a bit. The water was beautiful and the tide pools were really fun to see. Even though it was really warm the first couple of days, the evenings were cool and the cottage was the perfect temperature. The last couple of days, it cooled down enough for us to enjoy the fireplace too. This is a great location to explore all of the wonderful things County Clare has to offer. You are within 30 minutes to an hour to many of the top destinations: Cliffs, the Burren, Doolin, LaHinch, etc. We really enjoyed exploring right around Shorehaven. Quilty is quite charming & the locals were so friendly. When we left, Mike and Tina were there to say goodbye. We are so glad that we were able to explore so much of the “Wild Atlantic” from this location. A few more days here and I think we would have felt like real locals. Thank you! -Elizabeth & Ken

Owner's Response: Elizabeth and Ken (and Conor) What an amazing review! Thank you so much. We are truly delighted that Shorehaven helped you to have a wonderful vacation. We really enjoyed meeting and talking you and giving you recommendations. We agree, Shorehaven is the perfect place to be when the sun shines and the waves dance and the mighty Cliffs of Moher look blue across the bay. We wish you health and happinness always and maybe some time in the not too distant future a return to Quilty, in the beautiful west coast of Clare. Go raibh míle maith agaibh.

Beautiful and So Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. The cottage was lovely and plenty big for our family. Mike and Tina are so sweet and helpful. We witnessed an amazing sunset from the enclosed porch every night and even saw a sea otter. The quiet village of Quilty is a perfect home base for exploring the many natural wonders of County Clare. We would definitely recommend Shorehaven and in fact we already have.

Owner's Response: Thank you Marianne for taking the time out of your hectic schedule to write this review. We are thrilled with this very positive review. It was our pleasure to meet you and your family and to help in just a little way to make your vacation as enjoyable as possibe. It's easy to be 'sweet and helpful' when dealing with a family such as yours. We were sorry to see that Chris was laid low for a few days due to flu but happy that it did not curtail your enjoyment of West Clare too much. We wish you and your family all the very best. Regards and Thanks, Mike and Tina
