This is the get a way that is private and peaceful. Lots of space and lots to do around the area. We have people from all over the world and this country that have stayed and return many times to experience the connection with nature. Whether you want to sit and read a book or fish and swim you will not be disappointed with this wonderful area.
I am the owner of The Cabin at Hawk Hollow. The name comes from the fact that we have many Red Tail Hawks in this area so the name.
I am a graduate of Iowa State University in Ames. I bacame an Art Teacher and now spend alot of time woodcarving and taking care of the property. I live on the property and I am available if anything is needed by the tenents.
The reason to choose this property is that it is beautiful and very relaxing. It is a place to spend time reconnecting with family and nature. It is a place where you can forget the outside world but not be far from anything.
If you want to do day trips we are close to RI,CT. and the Cape. Markets are within 15min. away.
You can sit by the firepit and watch the moon on the lake and see the fireflys in the night!
Read the reviews and you will see why you should visit The Cabin at Hawk Hollow!
Privacy, clean water and the beauty of the surroundings. Sit on the deck and watch the ducks or the kayakers move by on a quiet morning!
I love the lake as it is ever changing and we get the sunrise here to enjoy. Every season is wonderful!
Absolutely the perfect place to relax and recharge. Lovely, well maintained cabin. Swimming, fishing or just sitting by the pond with a cup of tea. Close proximity to water slide, mini golf and state parks affords the opportunity for daytime adventures for the children. My grandsons didn't want to leave 😊 Catching a 7lb, a 4lb. Bass and many fat catfish had something to do with that. We certainly plan to return to this great, little place as soon as possible.
We stayed at this charming cabin for a weekend in early May when visiting Brimfield for its famous annual antique show. We spent most of the daytime hours at the show, which was exhilarating but overwhelming, so the cabin was the perfect place to come back to in the evening to relax and rejuvenate! It was cozy but comfortable, clean, well maintained and perfectly suited for 2 adult couples. The only thing I wish was that we would have had more time to enjoy this beautiful location and spend some time paddling around the lake in the kayaks! Sue was great to deal with and very accommodating. We hope to go back for a longer visit so we have more time to enjoy this magical place!
Each year my wife and I "sneak away" for her birthday weekend to a cabin somewhere in the woods....sometimes very rustic, sometimes less so. It can be hit or miss as they are often booked without first hand knowledge of the actual property.
Well, this year we picked The Cabin at Winter Hollow - and it was a hit.
We are certainly low maintenance guests, but we wanted for nothing at the cabin. We spent active days out and about (you're close to the SNETT bike trail - fat tires recommended - and you can catch the Mid State hiking trail right at the top of the driveway) the evenings watching birds on the lake, and the nights relaxing in the comfortable cabin.
I would not at all be surprised if we find our way back here for another visit.
A wonderful place.
We enjoyed the most enchanting week at the cabin. The setting is spectacular among the tall trees and extremely well maintained outdoor space. We went out in the kayaks to watch sunrise above the dramatically colored leaves, practiced yoga on the jetties in perfectly still and peaceful nature.
The authentic feel of the 1953 built cabin is magical and more than makes up for the compact bedrooms. We were able to cook in the kitchen or outside on the grill with ingredients sourced from a variety of great local stores. The fire pit provided a memorable outdoor evening, bringing back memories of old Gary Cooper westerns!
Susan the owner is a superb host who deserves an accolade for the work she does single-handedly. We just hope the cabin will be available to rent on our next visit to the US.

Another great family vacation. I have two boys (ages 10 and 6) and between the swimming, fishing, kayaking, hiking and bonfires w/ s'mores ... Well let's just say we all had fun! Thank you Susan for another great week!!!
The Cabin at Hawk Hollow is like something out of a story book—set on a couple acres of lush trees, mossy rocks and mere steps from the water. Three of us stayed there the week before Fourth of July and had a wonderful, relaxing time. The cabin is tiny, but has everything you need. You'll be in close proximity to a couple great grocery stores. Cooks will love the gas stove in the kitchen and the gas grill outside. The water is fantastic, very clean and clear. There are two docks so you can jump right in without ever having to touch the squishy bottom, or set out on one of the kayaks or canoes. The landlord, Sue, lives just above the cabin if you need anything (which you probably won't.) She's super sweet. We enjoyed chatting with her on some evenings as we walked the road just behind the property. I definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a peaceful lake getaway in Massachusetts. It's great for couples, families and small groups of friends. Thanks for the experience, Sue!
Golf at the Reese Jones Blackstone National Golf Course - 10 minutes, Brimfield Flea Market-May/July/Sept - 40 minutes, Newport Mansions - 1hr. Horseback riding, beaches, hiking and biking in the Douglas State Forest - next door. We are in southern Worcester county bordering Ct. and RI. Great location as it is near Rt146, RT. 395, RT. 290, and 10min. to the Mass. Pike. We are located on Lake Manchaug in Douglas. The lake is approx. 3.5 miles around.
Worcester has a wonderful world class Musuem and Craft Center. It also has Higgins Armory which is incrediable!
There are many vineyards nearby and we are very close to a wonderful section of Ct. Woodstock, Pomfret and Putnam which is full of antique shops.
Douglas and the lake area is like being in Maine without the long drive and the traffic.
