Perfect for our family reunion
We returned to Clayton's cabin for a second time for a family reunion and we weren't disappointed. We had a group of 22 and everyone had nothing to but great things to say. There is plenty of room for everyone and plenty of fun things to do both inside and outside. All six family groups had their own bedrooms and bathrooms, and the master suite really awesome. The older kids set up their sleeping quarters in the game room with their own TV and plenty of fun things to do. And once again, the place was spotless clean and everything was in perfect working order. The Clayton's are great hosts. We won't hesitate to return for a third visit if circumstances permit.
Perfect in every way!
We were so impressed with the property and with Boyd. There wasn't a single thing that didn't exceed expectations. When we arrived, Boyd met us and gave us a complete tour of the property. He was kind and very accommodating, pointing out where to find things and how to make sure that we had what we needed. The garden was amazing, the yard inviting and big, the porch cozy and perfect for sitting out and enjoying the mountain air. The yard had a fun trampoline and several swings for us to use and enjoy. We were a group of 25, and never once felt crowded or in each other's way. The beds were very comfortable and inviting for families and couples. The cabin was huge and nicely laid out and perfect for children of all ages. The kitchen was large and very easy for several people to cook and prepare meals together. Parking was plentiful and a little grocery was close by that was perfect for things we forgot to pack. There were two horses the children could pet and feed which they really enjoyed. The garden was beautiful and we enjoyed the peas and carrots. We loved our three night stay and will definately be back. Thank you Boyd for a very enjoyable and memorable stay in a beautiful location and fabulous cabin.
The Forth of July
Everything was absolutely wonderful, the cabin, the weather, the parade and the fireworks.
The house is beautiful and clean and accommodates a large group well. The street and neighborhood are quiet and nice for morning walks. The local store was able to provide some last minute items that some of our group needed. The house is well stocked and we had everything we needed.
With the AC on, the upstairs is comfortable- however the playroom that has beds for 5 people, is very warm with no windows to help with air flow. Arriving at 4pm, it didn't cool down very much by bedtime and kids ended up sleeping on the floor in other rooms- which is not a big deal, unless you specifically picked a house where everyone could have a bed. The room was cooler by the 2nd night.
The main complaint and the reason why this beautiful property is not getting 5 stars is due to the fact that there is couple living at the property in an attached apartment. This was not disclosed anywhere in the property description and was a very unwelcome surprise. The couple is nice, but we did not experience quiet enjoyment at this rental property. There is a large garden which everyone respected and stayed out of. The backyard has a slope to it and a few rows of garden had been planted. Several members of our group were spoken to by the couple about balls and on one occasion, a bike, going down the slope. No one was intentionally being destructive and instead of city kids being able to enjoy being outside, we kept them inside as much as we could. The couple would cross the backyard periodically throughout the day and stare at the house as they crossed. It created a very uncomfortable feeling. Several members of our group came from hot areas, but we didn't feel that we could go outside too early as the attached apartment also had the windows open to enjoy the cool air and we want to wake anyone up, nor did we feel we had privacy to enjoy the space.
The house is beautiful and rare for how many people can comfortably stay there. The location is lovely and there are fun things to do in the area. The kitchen was fun to cook in and the 2 fridges were really convenient. The house has a lot of rules that you learn about once you check in, however the lack of disclosure about people living on the property and the lack of privacy are the reasons for the rating.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My first less than 5 star review after being with VRBO for 3 years!!! The house has 4 AC units but as I explained to the guest who checked in before the entire group did YOU DON'T NEED THEM. Every night this summer it cools down to between 50 to 58 degrees. There are 6 large fans to bring in the cool air from the outside when it is cooler outside than it is inside (about 14 hours a day). It was 70 degrees inside the house when they checked in. I drove by several times over the next few days and they always had the windows open even when it was 88 degrees outside.
There are beds for 23 people--blow up beds for 8 more and 8 more can sleep on sofas/loveseats.
There is a small apartment separated by a 3 1/2 car garage that sometimes is occupied by myself or the property managers. We are never outside when guests are there except to feed the horses twice a day or to start the water in the garden. I have rented over 10 different VRBO homes all over the west and some of them had attached houses also or were in a 10 unit condo (all attached). SO WHAT.
As to the garden---No children are allowed to be in it without an adult present. This has never been a problem before. In my VRBO listing it says well supervised children are welcome. If a child runs a bike off of a 6 foot drop off into my garden then that is not acceptable. The children were constantly in the garden with no adult present. 2 acres where they can play
As to "a lot of rules" We do have a set of rules that is provided to us by VRBO and I personally go over this with the guests at check in. It has never been a problem in 3 years.
What these guests are really upset at is one of their children wet the game room sofa cushions so much it was dripping off them and they were 2 hours late checking out and they left dirty dishes in the cabin and I deducted $150 from their deposit. All I ask is you respect my property. This group respected nothing.
Boyd the owner was great and the cabin was amazing
Fabulous Family Reunion Home!
We had a family reunion and rented this amazing home! It was a fabulous place to gather as a large group! With tons of bedrooms and bathrooms and large gathering areas inside and outside, we were so comfortable! The kitchen is spacious and well stocked. We would highly recommend this beautiful property!
