About Bertrand

We are Parisians being abroad often. We love staying in the heart of Paris to benefit from this authentic and historical city.

Bertrand purchased this apartment in 2011

Why Bertrand chose 4th Arrondissement Pompidou Le Marais

We have renovated this flat of the 17th century with an architect and are very proud of this charming and beautiful result (antic ceiling and floor). This apartment is bright with natural light coming in and very pleasant to stay and relax after walking and visiting historical monuments.

What makes this apartment unique

Main advantage is the easy access to historical places just by WALKING:

- 3 mins - Notre Dame and ïle de la Cité.

- 5 mins – Marais/place des Vosges.

- 10mn Sorbonne/Quartier Latin and Sainte Chapelle.

- 25 mins – Louvre and Palais Royale.

- 30mns - Musée d’Orsay

Wonderful location!

  • 5 of 5

Bertrand's apartment was a fantastic exclamation point to a wonderful trip I took to Paris with my mother and my daughter upon her graduation from high school. Staying here allowed for us to experience Paris in a local way, as it is not in the middle of the crush of tourists, rather in a neighborhood setting with a bakery right downstairs! There is a beautiful view of the Pont Marie bridge and the Seine out the window of the apartment, and just a short walk in the other direction you get to the Pont de la Tournelle bridge where you can see Notre Dame Cathedral and, on a clear day, the Eiffel Tower. We were pleasantly surprised to happen upon a very lively shopping district to the north of the apartment on the Rue Saint Antoine. There we found a grocery store, a butcher, another bakery, a few wine stores, a fruit and vegetable store, a corner restaurant to sit for a glass of wine - even a Starbucks! We were happy to be able to make our dinner two nights of our stay by shopping for our meal at each of these shops. It was wonderful! We went out to eat one night at an absolutely fantastic restaurant called L'Auberge de la Reine Blanche on Rue St.-Louis en L'ile, which is right around the corner from the apartment. We had yet another delicious meal here. It is a small restaurant, and we were lucky to happen upon a table, as it became crowded shortly after we arrived. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The Coq au Vin was out of this world. Bertrand's apartment was very comfortable for the 3 of us with 2 twin beds and a pull-out sofa. The kitchen was well stocked, the bathroom had plenty of room, and although we didn't use it, there is a washer/dryer at the apartment. It is a beautifully maintained property and extremely clean. The one and only complaint we had was in regards to the stairs. There is no elevator, as Bertrand clearly states in the description. It was a bit of a struggle with our heavy suitcases, however, we only did it once up on the first day, and once down the day we left. It certainly would not deter us from staying here again ~ I would absolutely recommend this apartment. Bertrand was kind, helpful, and very responsive. This is the place to stay!! Thank you Bertrand!

Where to even begin?

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, and our two teenage boys, stayed for 5 night in this lovely apartment in possibly the best location Paris has to offer. Away from the insane crowds at Notre Dame, La Chappelle, the Louvre, etc and yet within easy walking and biking distance of them all, the apartment could not have been more centrally located. Even with the Boulangier (Bakery) downstairs being closed for the month of August (UGH), we found a new bakery and off we went! The flat is small but incredibly well-appointed and Bertrand answered many emails from me while we were there so his level of service is impeccable. The 3 stairwells are steep so this is not for the out-of-shape. We loved our walking and despite eating many wonderful meals, feel we did not gain weight! We were driving from Normandy and he helped us find a car park nearby to leave the car until we departed Paris. The metro is very close by. I've been to Paris many times for work, but my husband and kids had not been and we all agreed the flat is perfect and we would love to stay there again! A tip - if you want to visit Notre Dame, do it at 9:30 in the morning - the lines are insane. Oh, Berthillion ice cream / gelatto is famous and delish, as the lines there attest!

Best location possible!

  • 5 of 5

Took my 2 young granddaughters to Paris and this was the perfect spot. Apartment was extremely updated and very, very clean with all amenities including WIFI, landline and cable TV. There were many stores right on the island and we walked past Notre Dame everyday or stopped at its playground for adventure. Our host was very, very agreeable to extending our stay a few days as the place was available. This was the first time with HomeAway for me but will definitely use again. AND will use this apartment when I return to Paris. Thank you!

Great Apartment

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this apartment for 3 nights with my 20 year old daughter as a last minute booking. The owner was very responsive. It is a perfect apartment for two. We were very comfortable and would definitely rent this apartment again. Location is fabulous - on Ile St Louis and close to Notre Dame and the Marais district across the river. The apartment is newly renovated but maintains an old world charm with exposed ceiling beams and tall double windows that overlook a partial view of the Seine and the street below. The hallways and entrance to the building are old and worn (and the building is very old itself) but once inside the apartment is delightful and very clean- high ceilings, new kitchen, new bathroom, tasteful simple decor, comfortable beds. It was cold in Paris in January but it was great to be able to control the heat in the apartment. The bedroom is in the back and very quiet. We used the free phone to the U.S. and the wi-fi worked well.
