About Glenn Marston

We purchased the home in 2012 as a retirement home to be near family and the beach. We love spending time on the water fishing, swimming and enjoying family time and hope our renters enjoy the home and area as much as we do.

Glenn Marston purchased this house in 2012

Why Glenn Marston chose South Shore Massachusetts

The house is very close to the beach which makes walking there with young children very easy. At low tide the beach has a beautiful sandy area for young ones to play on and explore tidal pools. There are many great golf courses in the area and seafood restaurants in downtown Plymouth that have outdoor eating areas with beautiful water views.

The house does have a number of stairs leading up to it from the street level driveway and is not suited for people with walking difficulties.

Thank you so much for allowing us to lease your cottage in Plymouth. It was even nicer than I imagined! The kids had a great time collecting interesting shaped rocks and shells on the beach. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great house, very close to the beach

  • 5 of 5

This is the second house we’ve rented in this area of Plymouth. This house is by far the best. Here are our impressions:

Pros:

-Nice, clean house with a good number of bedrooms and beds.

-It is very close to a ‘kid friendly’ private beach.

-The house has a lot of amenities included, i.e. washer and dryer; air conditioners; gas grill; beach chairs and toys; etc…

-The house is located close to downtown Plymouth, which is a great town to eat at and walk around in.

-The owners are friendly and engaged to make sure your stay is a good one.

Cons:

-The lawn and the driveway are kind of steep. It could be an issue with some people.

Summary:

For us personally--a family with one child--it was the perfect destination. The beach is great for kids and the house is comforting and functional for a week’s stay. I do not have any reservations about staying again next year.

Everything and more!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great family vacation at Glenn and Joyce's home and we couldn't have asked for a more well equipped house. We have rented beach houses in the past, but this was the first one we had rented that had everything in the kitchen and more that most of the items we brought stayed in our bags!

There were a total of 5 adults and 3 children (ages 1, 2, and 4) vacationing in this home and we had plenty of room. The 4 bedrooms are very spacious and having two full bathrooms was a definite plus. The owners even had a high chair, pack and play, and baby gate they offered so my sister didn't have to worry about lugging those things for her 1 year old. The house was stocked with games, puzzles, and books to entertain the kids as well as the adults.

The beach was literally a 2 minute walk from the house and we were so lucky that during our week's stay, low tide was every morning. The beach is a little rocky at high tide, but the kids still loved looking at all of the different types of rocks. At low tide, there is plenty of room on the beach and you don't feel so crowded because the sand bar creates so much room. The kids loved looking for sea creatures in the tidal pools. We found crabs, snails, and even a star fish!

In the evening, we would take a drive to downtown Plymouth (just a short 15 minute drive) to stroll around with the kids and grab ice cream from one of the various ice cream shops. The house is so close to other amenities such as a grocery store and gas station as well as restaurants all within 5 minutes of driving.

Glenn and Joyce were so helpful from the day we inquiried about the house to the check-in day. I would definitely recommend this beach rental especially for families with young children. We had so much fun here and thank them again for allowing us to stay in their home!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. We try to make the stay as pleasant as possible for vacationers. Since we have rented other homes in the past for ourselves we have tried to equip the house with items that are useful for our guests, particularly those traveling with young children. Great House - Very Close to Beach

  • 4 of 5

My family and I stayed here July 5-12 2014. We had a great time. There were seven of us - 2 adults and 5 kids. The kids age range from 12-4 yrs. There was plenty of room for all of us to sleep. There are two bedrooms on the first floor. One has a full size bed and the other has two twin beds. The second floor has a master with a queen (or full...) and another bedroom with two twin beds and enough room for an air mattress. The master could fit one or two air mattresses. There are two full baths. The first floor bath very nice, has a tub and shower. The second floor bath is spacious. There is a shower, no tub. I will say that the shower is a bit tight. The towels provided were all very nice as well as the linens. The yard was great for the kids to play after a day at the beach. The beach is very close - it's literally a 2 minute walk (and I timed it). Lots of room on the beach. I found that you had to get there about 10:30-11 to get a sandy spot. There are quite a few rocks on the beach. When the tide goes out - tons of sand to play or walk on. The kids loved it for that reason as well as to catch crabs. It kept the girls busy for hours and hours. Most people arrived later and put their chairs on the wet sand down near the water - so there's plenty of room. We had awesome weather and a great time. It's a terrific, convenient location. Glenn and Joyce were also great - they communicated very well and you can tell that they care about the house and your happiness as a guest. Would gladly return to the house.

Owner's Response: Thanks for a great review. We try to make the house comfortable for our guests and do take pride in the house as it is our second home and not just rental property. The bed in the master bedroom is a queen sized bed. There is a full size bed in the downstairs bedroom.

A relaxing week

  • 5 of 5

We spent a wonderful week in Plymouth with two families and three small children (ages 6 months to 4 years). The property is clean, comfortable and cozy, and only steps from Priscilla Beach, a beautiful, private beach with an exposed sandbar (at low tide), perfect for swimming, sand castles, and tide pooling. We took day trips into Plymouth (thumbs up for the Blue Eyed Crab), the Marshfield Fair, Ellisville Harbor State Park, and grilled out on the patio in the evenings. The house was stocked with beach toys, chairs, family games, and everything we needed to enjoy our stay. A big thank you to Glenn and Joyce for being such gracious hosts.

Perfect Cottage Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

Came in June 2013 with 4 young children, all under 9 years old. Owners Glenn and Joyce are fantastic, very considerate. Everything you need is there from extra set of keys, binder containing info for local attractions, menus for local restaurants, well equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, two TVs, and four clean wooden floor bedrooms which were perfect for our young children who have had issues with dust allergens in the past. No issues here! We visited the beach daily, and I feel the private beach deserves a separate paragraph.

We drove up and down cape cod all the way to Provincetown, stopping at various beaches along the national seashore. Many were sandy, with large dunes. Many were crowded. Others were rocky. After visiting several, I have to say that the beach house has the best beach we visited. Just a handful of families sitting in lounge chairs chatting, really feels like your own beach. On the left hand side facing the ocean, a rocky/tide pool area where the kids found hermit crabs, snails, crabs of other kinds up to 5 inches long, shrimp an inch long. And the rest of the beach which is what you would expect - during low tide, a stretch of probably 100 yards towards the water of soft sand to build and play with. Look to the left and you have rocks and tide pools. Look to the right and you have fine sand as far as the eye can see. I'm telling you, this location is hard to beat.

Because Plymouth is a bit further north than the rest of the Cape, we found it convenient to visit Boston several times during the week. Did the Duck tours, Children's museum. In Plymouth, visited Plimoth Plantation. Also went to the Thornton Burgess Museum (author of Adventures of Peter Cottontail)

My first time using homeaway.com, and after this experience, we plan to come back!
