Provencal Cottage at the foot of Mont Ventoux. Private pool.

Bedrooms 2
Space 645 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

A four person cottage (Gite) with private gardens & pool.

The Oaks is totally private but not isolated, with the village of Villes-sur-Auzon only a 1 minute drive away (approx 2km – walking distance). We are situated in a 10 hectare vineyard to the front of the property and woodlands to the rear – the Auzon River runs through the bottom of the garden – with views to the hilltop village of Blauvac and the Gorge de la Nesque.

The cottage has it's own private garden which is fenced and away from the main Mas (and the Auzon stream). The Oaks has a terraced area and a stone built barbecue and backs onto the woodlands – sun beds and cushions are provided. The swimming pool is next to the cottage and is accessible from the private garden.

The Oaks is on one level with exposed beamed ceilings, with the bedrooms furnished to a high quality, overlooking the private gardens and have a shower etc..

The lounge has two very comfortable sofa's, occasional table etc., and has the television with English satellite, a DVD player with MP3 facilities, a CD player and Wi Fi.

The kitchen is fitted out in the traditional Provencal style – stone built – and is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine etc.

The kitchen and lounge are open-plan with the French windows leading from the lounge to the terrace area. The kitchen also overlooks the terrace.

All prices quoted are fully inclusive of all bed linen and towels including beach towels

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a superb place to stay. The owners have been running the business for over 12 years, and they have thought of everything. The four poster bed was a real bonus as we had never slept in one before.

The pool was lovely, with views to Mont Ventoux. I would highly recommend this property to anyone, in fact we have booked again in another 3 months. Thank you both very much.

Peace & tranquilty in Provence

  • 5 of 5

if you are looking for a perfect little haven with all the beautiful little villages of the Vaucluse on your doorstep then this is the place for you. The gite is spotless & cosy; the hosts are warm, welcoming & charming. The pool; (yes is used by Debs (the owner) on occasion but we found that a plus as she is lovely) is magnificent and was a wonderful place to catch up and tell all about your adventures that day. It is worth pointing out that if you were staying in a 5 star hotel you would be sharing the facilities with many other people & paying 5 times more than you pay to stay in this little slice of heaven. Thank you for having us; we loved it xx

If you wish to have a Holiday/Vacation to just get away from it all, then this is the place to come. The owners are thoughtful, quiet and always on hand if you need help.

Yes, the owner (just the Lady) does use the pool, but that did not affect our experience. I would strongly advise anyone to come to this property, as it's wonderful.

This was our first time in Provence, and the places to visit are stunning. Avignon is a must, but go early in the morning to find a parking place. Ventoux is another great visit, La Gorge de la Nesque is a lovely drive.

So much to see, and so hence the reason we are returning.

Cosy and well equipped

  • 3 of 5

Whilst the actual property was very nice, we felt the owners were rather economical with the truth. We were told we would have exclusive use of the pool but when we arrived we discovered we had to also share with the owners and two other travellers staying on site. The owner sat by the pool whilst we were there and smoked which we found extremely unpleasant. The details listed a dishwasher and a freezer neither of which were supplied. I was the only dishwasher! The pool area was very nice but we were not allowed to use it after 6.00 - we have never come across this before. Otherwise it was a nice property to rent.

Just what we wanted. Quiet, peaceful, and without any neighbours.

The hosts are lovely, and have thought of everything. The Gite/Cottage has everything that you could wish for. I would personally call it a heaven - for people who just want to get away from it all.

If you want peace and tranquility, then this is the place to come.

Home from Home, but with a twist. You don't have a vineyard in your back garden.

This is the third year that we have stayed at this property, and we have already made plans to come back in October. We love the local village of Villes sur Auzon, it has everything you need. For a bigger shop, head into Mazan, it's only a short drive away, but the bakers in the village are second to none. Plus it's in walking distance.

Deborah is very thoughtful hostess, and makes a holiday with her an absolute pleasure, as nothing is too much trouble (we broke a glass, and she was around straight away with another, sorry Debs.). We missed Troy their Saint Bernard, he was a character.

Glorious Ventoux retreat

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed with Deborah on many occasions and have ALWAYS had a very warm welcome from the whole family including TROY the dog. The property is always very tidy with all things you would need for a self catering holiday.

Pool is kept in very good order. This is the ideal place to go for Scenery - right under the Mt Ventoux. The nearest village is a stiff hill walk away (less than 5 mins by car) Explore the Terraventoux coop for wine and two very good restaurants in the village - best of all though this is the perfect retreat for a very quiet and enjoyable holiday, my wife and I certainly recommend this to anyone that will listen.

A charming gite in the heart of Provence in Mont Ventoux region.

Just 25 mins to Avignon and close to Carpentras lies resting in the foothills of Mont Ventoux you will find Villes sur Auzon – an idyllic place to stay at anytime of year.

We have over 10 hectares of vines for you to stroll through. Please help yourself to the grapes, cherries, damsons figs and quince – when in season.

The gîte is dominated by the Giant of Provence Mont Ventoux. It is truly an exhilarating experience to drive or cycle to the summit. The views from the top are spectacular – here you can relax and take in the ‘bowl of fresh air’ from the 2 restaurants and gift shops at the summit. The temperature drops about 10 degrees from the base to the summit so a coat is recommended.

There are markets every day around the area; you have to drive no further than 15 minutes to the largest market which is in Carpentras on a Friday. Bedoin which is a 5 minute drive is extremely popular as it is not as large as Carpentras. You can just smell, taste and just take in the ambiance of a fantastic typical Provencal Market with bands playing and street side cafes and bars. Further afield we have Sault, this is another market not to miss held on a Wednesday – truly breathtaking with the stimulating smell of Lavender everywhere and of course the gorgeous nougat.

If it’s the wine you like also then there are numerous places to visit, from the famous Chateauneuf de Pape, Gigondas and Vacqueyras where there are so many places to stop and have a degustation (taste) before you buy. The local wines are also very good: far cheaper and not so far to drive after your degustation.

Spring (March – May) is the time for cherries, strawberries and many other fruits – there are Fetes to celebrate all. A fantastic time to come with all the trees in blossom – the vines starting to show their grapes and the weather then is not too hot. Also the pool is open.

Summer (June – August) is when something is going on nearly every weekend from the Asparagus Fete, the Lavender Fete which is a must visit – the festival in Avignon which is celebrated over 4 weeks and the weather is fabulous.

In the Autumn (September – November) the weather is still warm and the pool is still open because we have a thermal cover. The Vendange starts (grape harvest) and people are out and about collecting mushrooms for the ‘Fete de Champignons’ (mushrooms) which is held in the Sault area. The leaves on the vines are changing colour and a visit to Mont Ventoux then is beautiful indeed.

In Winter (December – February) there are many fetes in preparation of Christmas. You can even go on a tour to find those elusive Truffles with a local man who lives just 5km away. He is always so pleased when someone finds a Truffle – which you get to keep.
