L'Avinia is a beautiful traditional stone house located in the charming village of La Bruguière, 8 minutes by car from Uzès, the town of art and history that is the main draw of the beautiful provençal Gard region.
The house comfortably accommodates a family or group of up to 8 people for a peaceful and restful stay , whatever the season.
The south-facing garden gets sun all day, is protected from the wind, and is peaceful because there is no through-traffic in this quiet little village.
The garden includes a heated pool, large teak table and chairs for outdoor eating, 2 large parasols for shade, a big Weber gas barbecue, 4 sun lounger mattresses, a large outdoor sofa and 4 outdoor reclining chairs.
Although the garden is compact rather than sprawling, it has everything one could need for spending fabulous moments of relaxation or shared time with loved ones. As a bonus, there is a 1500m² public garden opposite the house that is almost always deserted, for the kids to run around in or play games. It's almost like having a private garden extension.
L'Avinia was renovated early 2013, respecting the old world charm: stone construction, central stone staircase with a wonderful hundred-year patina, good volumes and proportions, floors in traditional antique tile.
The beautiful central staircase serves 3 levels:
- Ground floor: spacious dining room, kitchen, laundry room and shower room with WC
- intermediary floor: grand double living room, 1 generous bedroom, 1 nice bathroom with WC
- top floor: 3 bedrooms, 1 shower room with WC, and 1 bathroom with WC
The kitchen is very cosy, with 2 comfy armchairs placed around the large central fireplace. Very well equipped, it features a Lacanche traditional stove and oven and a generous American fridge / freezer with chilled filtered water dispenser and ice cube / crushed ice dispenser.
The view is a strong point of this house: the 3 large living room windows and 2 of the 4 bedrooms have panoramic views over the Provence countryside.
Active individuals will be happy too, with 2 all terrain bikes made available, Badminton, Ping Pong and a traditional boules set (there is a boules field 50m away on the village square).
We hope you will have a great time during your stay and enjoy l'Avinia every bit as much as we do. :-)
My name is Carole and I'm a French interior designer in Paris, married to Alex who owns and runs a high-end weekly rental agency in Paris. We are lucky to share our time between Paris and l'Avinia, our house in La Bruguière, 8 minutes from Uzès.
Carole Wagner purchased this house in 2012
Alex and I fell in love with the Uzès region when we first visited. We spent months seeking out the right house, before finding the rare pearl in the charming village of La Bruguière, 8 minutes north of Uzès. We invested ourselves in renovating and perfecting the house and its garden during big works that were finished in early 2013. We hope that you will enjoy staying at l'Avinia as much as we do.
L'Avinia has it all:
- Tradition stone house, retaining all its original period charm
- Renovated 2013, with modern comfort and convenience
- Beautiful interior design
- 4 large equal sized bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 4 WC
- Heated pool
- Well furnished garden
- Sunny Provence has 300 dry sunny days per year!
- Nested in a Provence countryside encrusted with picturesque little village jewels
- 8 minutes from Uzès, the focal attraction of the region
A wonderful space for a reunion of family coming from Luxembourg, Washington State and Oregon (USA). The home and garden are beautiful! The beds and bedding are lovely and the home in general is very comfortable. Carole went above and beyond in her communication with us and has a more than competent local manager in Claire. The region surrounding this home is idyllic and a pleasure to explore. We hope to return someday...
We arrived at the villa in the evening and were greeted by a lovely lady who walked us through the entire location and gave us a booklet explaining the utilities etc. The home is beautifully restored with 4 large bedrooms and baths. There were modern appliances in the kitchen and baths.
The home was centrally located and within easy driving distance to many of the perched cities of France. We weren't able to use the pool 1. because we stayed too busy visiting the area during the day and 2. because it was just a little too cool for a swim. The pool is heated by solar, so it is best in late May and on into the summer.
The house is near the quaint village of Uzes and near grocery stores, wonderful restaurants, and many historical sites. We visited Arles, Avignon, Lusan, Baux de Provence, Nimes, Vaison La Romain,, St. Quentin and several more. We drove one day to Monte Carlo but it's a full day.
We saw so much and then came home to a comfortable, cozy and very beautifully decorated home each night.
Whether you take a vacation to sit at the villa and enjoy the lovely area and amenities of the home, or use the home as a base and travel the countryside, we would definitely recommend it for both comfort and location.
Our only complaint was one of the couches in the common room was less cushy than we like but to each their own.
We definitely recommend the villa to anyone who is travelling in the area!
We have just spent a very relaxing week at this beautiful house which is furnished in a delightful mixture of traditional and contemporary styles. The village is very quiet with only occasional passing cars audible in the garden. The surrounding countryside is truly stunning and the village is Perfectly located for trips to Uzes, Avignon, Nimes etc.
A beautifully designed & very comfortable house.
I enjoyed an extremely relaxing holiday with my family including 2 children, who we couldn't get out of the pool!
A quiet village but an idea location to explore this beautiful region.
Thoroughly recommend the house all year round!

Ideally located at the entrance of a charming and peaceful village of 200 inhabitants: La Bruguière.
Only 8 minutes from the ravishing town of Uzès, town of art and history, with its classified heritage: castle, cathedral, church, market, smart boutiques, cafés, great restaurants... in a word, l'art de vivre.
Unlike the Luberon which only wakes up in mid summer, Uzès is lively and soulful all year round.
Around Uzès you will find roman ruins, impossibly pretty villages, and markets with 1000 scents and local produce.
The monumental aqueduct of Pont du Gard is a key sight, as is the Haribo sweet factory for the kids (and maybe adults too!).
At little further afield, the Nîmes and Orange areas, Gardon grottos, Anduze pottery and beautiful towns of St Rémy, Arles and Avignon.
A 'House Guide Booklet' is available in the house, offering local tips and the best local addresses around the area.
Uzès golf club is a 12 min drive from the house.
Beautiful flowery nine hole par 36 course, offering 3Km of rich variations of difficulty, for beginners and experienced players alike. Open all year round thanks to the sweet climate of Provence.
