Adirondack Getaway in Charming Rustic Cabin
My husband, two children and I vacationed for a week in this lovely cabin in the southern Adirondacks during the peak fall foilage season of 2009. This cabin is a wonderful getaway for small families and/or friends. Rustic, but not too rustic with propane fueled lanterns, hot water and even a refrigeration system. We were surprise attacked by cooler temperatures than expected, but the wood-burner kept things snug and warm for our nightly round of family charades, puzzles and general relaxation. The owners are very unobtrusive and give you carte blanche on the property while you are there with guest books outlining good leads on excursions and secret spots you might not otherwise hear about. Our number one recommendation is the Adirondack Museum, which is described as the Smithsonian of the Adirondack's and does not disappoint. Thank you for a great family getaway in a clean, quiet and lovely environment. The only reason I didn't rate this "excellent, five stars" was because the weather was quite bad the entire time, which obviously has nothing to do with the cabin and it's comforts and cannot be helped.
We can all agree the summer and fall have been wet and soggy, but the cabin surely is warm and cozy and gives one time to just tune out the world and get back in touch with the important things in life.
As we get ready to close for the season until May, please keep in mind that if you are a winter enthusiast we have a house available on the property that is opened all winter.
You may see it on the Homeaway site. It is called "The MeadowLane House"
Thank you to all our rentors from this past season, who enjoyed themselves and treated the cabin as their own.
Take care. Pam and Len
Our new happy place!
As much as we would have liked to explore the area, the weather wasn't really condusive for it. We enjoyed just staying in the cabin, reading or playing board games. The view of the pond was so tranquil as was the quiet wooded setting . Everything was perfect. We wish we could live there year round.! We will most definitely return perhaps for a longer stay.
Beautiful and relaxing place to listen to nature
We really enjoyed this relaxing property. It is a beautiful and special place to listen to the frogs and birds. We were visited each morning and evening by a friendly hummingbird along with numerous songbirds. The cabin overlooks a pond in which we could see a turtle and a short jaunt up the trail behind the place reveals a beaver pond.
Overall, a great place. My only annoyance was having to dig up some double sheets to bring. As a word of caution, if you are a light sleeper you may want earplugs. The frogs are loud (I loved it, others may not!) and the bathroom floor and door squeak loudly.
As a relaxing place to get away and unwind, 5 stars!
Hi Rebecca. Glad you enjoyed your stay. YES, the frogs are loud, but they start mellowing out after June. Will have to oil the squeeks.
Looking to add a little dock for the rowboat and my son just made a fun CORN HOLE game to put up there.
Take care and enjoy the rest of the summer. Pam and Len
Wonderful cabin in the woods
So quiet! We spent our days watching hummingbirds and exploring nearby trails, it was a really lovely getaway.
Fantastic, unique, inspiring...
Just arrived home from a stay at Singing Mountain and all I can say is "Wow." I knew the cabin would be great based on the reviews and pictures, but quite honestly, they do not tell the whole story. You have to experience it first hand. The drive up to the property and the initial look-see was so exciting, even my dog was amazed. We enjoyed the deck, pond and wildlife very much. It is equipped with everything you need relax, regain and restore. I didn't think about work once (and that's a first). The unique architecture, private setting, access to all the sights, hikes, and attractions the area offers are worth noting. If you stay, you'll also note the cool objects displayed throughout the cabin and surrounding property that make you think and wonder "where did this come from?!" I agree with many of the other reviews... Magical. My dog is currently pouting because she'd rather be there than home. We will be back. Thanks Pam and Len for sharing this piece of heaven!
We are so glad your vacation was relaxing and inspiring, and your dog had a good time too. Thanks for coming and we welcome you back anytime.
If you are looking for a quiet little place in the ADKs...look no further. At this cabin, you will witness numerous hummingbirds around the feeder at any given time. At dusk and throughout the night you will hear the barred owls...from very close by. We found a lot of newts each morning and the dragonflies are simply enormous! I was a little hesitant on staying at a place off the grid, but there was nothing to worry about. There's everything you need, from propane wall lanterns around the place to a full fridge (in a very interesting location I may add). The cabin itself though is probably the coolest part. It has an energy all its own. It's a hard place to describe but there's something truly magical about it. Extraordinarily eclectic and can't wait to go back soon!
We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and really "got" the experience of it all. Hoping to see you again. Even though the pond is low right now because we are in a drought it has become a haven for the Blue Heron, turkeys, deer and other animals who gather around it.
Take care and enjoy the Autumn.

The best of both worlds.'Singing Mountain Adirondack Camp' is located one and a half miles from the small village of Wells. On your stroll through town you may like to visit the beach, kayak, canoe or fish in Lake Algonquin, play some tennis, while the kids enjoy the playground, check out the library and small shops or grab a snack at the local cafe. The camp is close to hiking and dirt bike trails, many lakes and rivers to fish and boat in. Nature outside your front door but one hour from Saratoga, Lake George, Albany,Glens Falls and all they have to offer.
Other Activities: Wells is a small village of about 750 people. It's a great place to settle in, shake off technology and get re-acquainted with the natural world around you. The four mile hike around Lake Algonquin is a favorite fitness route, and every trail or dirt road leads to waterfalls, ponds, ancient forests. This area is famous for its geological history and sea fossils are often found. In the last few years several bald eagles have been reported to bird watchers delight. While sitting on the porch of 'Singing Mountain' overlooking the pond, you'll be the guest of many animals who come to drink. Ducks, turtles, deer, turkeys, blue herons. With the absence of street lights, this is THE place for star gazers. You've never seen the Milky Way glow like it does here. Take a blanket to lie on, look up and find amazement and wonder again.
