Pam Broiles purchased this cabin in 1989
My husband, two children and I vacationed for a week in this lovely cabin in the southern Adirondacks during the peak fall foilage season of 2009. This cabin is a wonderful getaway for small families and/or friends. Rustic, but not too rustic with propane fueled lanterns, hot water and even a refrigeration system. We were surprise attacked by cooler temperatures than expected, but the wood-burner kept things snug and warm for our nightly round of family charades, puzzles and general relaxation. The owners are very unobtrusive and give you carte blanche on the property while you are there with guest books outlining good leads on excursions and secret spots you might not otherwise hear about. Our number one recommendation is the Adirondack Museum, which is described as the Smithsonian of the Adirondack's and does not disappoint. Thank you for a great family getaway in a clean, quiet and lovely environment. The only reason I didn't rate this "excellent, five stars" was because the weather was quite bad the entire time, which obviously has nothing to do with the cabin and it's comforts and cannot be helped.
Singing Mountain is a great cabin for a family that wants to get away and enjoy the outdoors. The cabin has a great rustic feel and overlooks a beautiful pond. We also like that there is no electricity ( cabin runs on propane) and gives us more time to read and play board games well into the night. There is a great outdoor covered deck that overlooks the pond.
Also in the town of Wells there is a great beach that has a diving board and deep lake swimming!
Overall the location is great, clean and near lots of hiking trails and 15 minutes away from restaurants and grocery stores.
I highly recommend Pam's cabin if your looking for a place to get away from it all and love the outdoors.
When you book a cabin anywhere there's always a slight anxiety because sometimes pictures dont show the whole story. Id have to say that the pictures dont do this place justice. It is truly amazing to see the ingenuity and creativity that was put into this place. I have stayed in quite a few cabins and believe this is my favorite so far. I havent slept so sound like i did this weekend. The landscape is beautiful and there is tons of forest to explore. the propane system worked great and it was nice to go to the fridge a open a cold one too! For the price, hospitality, and charm of this place, I will be back again! Thank you so much for allowing us to opportunity to experience your little piece of Heaven!!
Pulling up the private drive around the pond that is all yours for your stay with the idyllic cabin in your view, sets the tone of the magical time that you will have at Singing Mountain. My husband and I, along with our two pups, had the absolute best time at this amazing hidden away gem. The owners, Pam and Len, pay mind to all of the right details to give you the nature lover's dream getaway. The cabin is perfectly appointed with all of the kitchen tools that you will need for your stay and the 360 degree views from every spot in the cozy cabin will simply take your breath away. If you need a recharge and love being in the woods, go here, bottom line. Words just can't do the place justice - me telling you about the beavers you can watch building their home or the trails you can access just a mile or two down the road just isn't the same as doing and seeing for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

This cabin is lovingly crafted and unique in every way. It is a peaceful, rejuvenating retreat tucked in the woods by a small beaver pond. The lack of electricity is a great feature for families that wish to unplug, although there is cell service. We so enjoyed visiting the local waterfalls and swimming spots. Auger Falls is a mystical experience. The cabin is perfect for a couple or a small family, but be warned that the single bed in the nook is highly uncomfortable for an adult-sized person and awkwardly situated so that the opening bathroom door is right at their face. The other two double beds were very comfortable. The only thing that would make this place even more wonderful would be Adirondack chairs to relax in at the end of the day. The plastic chairs just didn't go with the setting. I highly recommend this lovely cabin and Pam is the perfect host, giving you plenty of privacy. Locals are incredibly friendly, too.
The best of both worlds.'Singing Mountain Adirondack Camp' is located one and a half miles from the small village of Wells. On your stroll through town you may like to visit the beach, kayak, canoe or fish in Lake Algonquin, play some tennis, while the kids enjoy the playground, check out the library and small shops or grab a snack at the local cafe. The camp is close to hiking and dirt bike trails, many lakes and rivers to fish and boat in. Nature outside your front door but one hour from Saratoga, Lake George, Albany,Glens Falls and all they have to offer.
Other Activities: Wells is a small village of about 750 people. It's a great place to settle in, shake off technology and get re-acquainted with the natural world around you. The four mile hike around Lake Algonquin is a favorite fitness route, and every trail or dirt road leads to waterfalls, ponds, ancient forests. This area is famous for its geological history and sea fossils are often found. In the last few years several bald eagles have been reported to bird watchers delight. While sitting on the porch of 'Singing Mountain' overlooking the pond, you'll be the guest of many animals who come to drink. Ducks, turtles, deer, turkeys, blue herons. With the absence of street lights, this is THE place for star gazers. You've never seen the Milky Way glow like it does here. Take a blanket to lie on, look up and find amazement and wonder again.
