Relaxing, fun, stress free vacation: Every time I go to this vacation home, I can feel the tension and stress just melt away. The views from the house are gorgeous. We're right on the bank of the Saco river, so in the summer, some days we spend all day just lazing in the river, picnicking on the large flat rocks in the middle of the river, exploring along the river's edge, or tubing downriver. The house is on a large, flat lawn, so it's perfect for badminton, volleyball or other games. There are so many trails and waterfalls in the national forest nearby. A ride on the old North Conway Scenic Railroad or the Mount Washington Cog Railway is fun for the whole family. In the fall, the foliage is spectacular; that's our favorite time to hike. In the winter, we're in the middle of so many ski areas: Attitash/Bear Peak, Black, Wildcat, Cranmore, Bretton Woods, and a little further to Cannon Mountain. There are cross country ski areas and snow-mobile rentals right in Bartlett. You can ski from our house over closed railroad track. And you can build a snow fort in our yard or a snowman family! It's a great place to vacation any time of year.
Relax and enjoy this lovely 3 bedroom chalet with waterfront on the Saco River and spectacular mountain views of the White Mtns. Cathedral ceiling living room with full view of Hart's Ledge. 15 minutes to StoryLand. Large stone fireplace, wood stove. Wrap around deck. Large lawn, great for outdoor games like badminton or volleyball, or building great snow forts or snow men in winter. Great skiing in the winter, 10 minutes from Attitash/Bear Peak and Bartlett Cross Country Skiing. 20-25 minutes to Bretton Woods and Mt Washington, Black Mtn, Cranmore, Wildcat, and Pinkham Notch. Walk-in basement for easy storage of skis and sporting equipment. Great location for: hiking, mountain climbing, swimming, tubing/canoeing, golf, backpacking, Conway Scenic Railroad, White Mountain National Forest, StoryLand, shopping and all kinds of winter sports, including snow mobiling. 20 minutes to Echo Lake and North Conway outlet malls. The river behind the house is great fun. Large flat rocks for picnics in the middle of the river. Short walk to a great swimming 'hole'. Excellent foliage in the fall.

About Andrea Stidsen HomeAway Member since 2005
We have owned this house for many years and love it and love the area. There is so much to do, any season of the year. Our daughter grew up spending weeks in the summer playing in the river, and winter holidays on the ski slopes. Lots of wonderful memories. As a family, we like to hike on the many beautiful trails in the White Mountains. We're happy to help you plan your trip if you would like.
What makes this House unique
It's rare to find a property that has both waterfront and mountain views. It's great to just sit in the living room or at the dining room table on a cold day and just look out the big windows and sliding doors at Hart's Ledge and the mountains. In the summer, it 's so much fun to play in the river, or walk down to one of the best swimming holes in the Saco.

Bartlett NH Chalet
We enjoyed staying at the chalet on the Saco river. The location is very convenient to Franconia Notch, Conway and several ski areas (for those interested in winter get-aways). It has three bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths, making it convenient for a family. The wood stove is a nice touch. The place is clean and comfortable -- could use some updating -- but otherwise very nice. The owner is friendly and responsive. She was great to deal with and provided clear, comprehensive instructions with lots of local tips. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that Route 302 is behind the house just past the river, so while it's really nice to hear the sound of the river running over the rocks, the road generates quite a bit of noise, detracting from the otherwise perfect setting.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I’m so glad you and your family enjoyed our vacation home.
Great, Quiet, Big Sky, Relaxing
Thanks Andrea, Greg
Place was great, clean, and enjoyable.
Saco river behind the house and Nice open view with big window in the living room.
the deck was enjoyable late night watching the stars.
Would love to come back with the family again.
Mountain views and hummingbirds
This place is a fantastic place to relax with the whole family with abundant activities for everyone nearby.
Mornings: Relax on the deck with coffee watching the sun rise around the mountains with hummingbirds flittering around me.
Days: Within 20 or so minutes of the house we did 4 hikes, saw 4 waterfalls and swimming holes, 1 lake, Storyland, 2 playgrounds, and shopping. We also just explored the yard and river with the kids. lots of dining options. Check out the new Wicked Craft Burger spot!
Evenings: Back to mountain gazing on the deck, sipping wine, and grilling out!
The house itself had all the supplies you could need from cooking utensils to laundry detergent. It was cozy and comfortable. Just the right size and space for spending time with the whole family while also being able to retreat to our own personal spaces.
I highly recommended this place for any group vacationing together. The owner was extremely helpful and kind and helped make it an easy and enjoyable vacation!
Dear Maia - thank you so much for this great review! I'm always so happy when our guests enjoy our home as much as we do. The area has so much to offer and it's great that you were able to take advantage of it. We love to cook, so I'm glad you found everything you needed. Ah yes, relaxing with a glass of wine and gazing at the mountains--perfect. You're welcome to come back anytime! Thank you
Lovely chalet with fantastic views
The living area has a cathedral window that looks right out at the mountains that were in beautiful fall colors. At night we fell asleep to the sounds of the river behind us. We had a problem with some cluster flies the first day we arrived that was a natural occurrence, but the owner, when notified was very apologetic and compensated us for the inconvenience. She also was very helpful in offering us activities that we'd enjoy in the area. It was a very relaxing, lovely setting to enjoy the fall colors.
Hiking the White Mountains in the Fall
Everything was just as Andrea's instructions said. Her directions were very helpful in finding the place and opening it up. We got in quite late on Friday night, so were very happily surprised in the morning when we opened the front curtains to reveal a beautiful mountain in fall colors right in front of us. Right behind the house is the river which was low (drought) but still very scenic. The house was in the middle of the many waterfalls in the White Mountains that we wanted to hike. It is a really beautiful area.
Our supper at the local White Mountain Cider Co. was great, but would recommend getting reservations a couple of weeks in advance. I made the reservation about a week in advance and could only get in after 8 pm.
We only stayed for a weekend, so it was a little hectic making beds when we got in late and then getting the laundry and cleaning done before 11 am, but the house is comfy and cozy. We would definitely recommend it.
Thank you so much for your response. We are always happy to hear when our guests have a wonderful time enjoying both our house and the many activities in the area. We hope you'll come back again!
We include the towels and sheets for our guests convenience, as part of the rental fee. I totally understand that it can be a pain to make the beds, especially when arriving very late at night. For that reason, if our guests arrange with us in advance, we can ask our cleaning service to make the beds before they get there. They do charge an extra fee for that, but it can be done.
We want to make our guests as comfortable as possible so they can enjoy their time at our chalet.
Lovely and Super Convenient!
We stayed at the Chalet for four nights with our two kids and it was fabulous! The location is obviously awesome and we loved the nearby kid-friendly hikes, restaurants, swimming hole down the road, and of course - Story Land! The Chalet itself is so comfortable - I could have sat on the couch with a novel and enjoyed the view out the window for hours. They have everything you need and Andrea is amazing to work with. The river behind the house is also lovely, though the current was too swift for our young kids to really enjoy at this point (ages 3 and 7). But the swimming hole with the natural water slide down the road was perfect. We would definitely recommend this spot to anyone.
Why rent a condo when you can rent this whole house for less? With beautiful views and waterfront location on the banks of the Saco River, this house is right in the middle of the White Mountains. Skiing, hiking and mountain climbing nearby. Near shopping, outlets, restaurants, Story Land, other visitor attractions, and all outdoor activities. Located only 4 miles from Attitash Bear Mountain. Swimming, biking, canoeing, golf, down-hill and cross country skiing, and snowmobiling are all within minutes. This is a beautiful, relaxing and comfortable place to spend your time away, any time of year. Other Activities: hiking and mountain climbing in the White Mountain National Forest;canoeing and kayaking on the Saco River
