A retreat, this cottage is a small but charming two room plantation green cottage with white trim that sleeps two. A great honeymoon retreat.
Rustic in its simplicity, this cottage was designed in the single wall construction popular during the 1930's and which has been lovingly restored with tropical ceiling fans in each room.
An open air cemented lanai covers most sides of the cottage
The kitchen is well supplied with dishes, utensils, pots and pans, table, chairs, a double deep sink, refrigerator, a two gas burner stove, and toaster oven.
Cool Spanish pavers tile the floors throughout. Custom cabinetry is found in both rooms. The indoor shower is attractively lined with alpine slate. A pedestal sink graces the bathroom.
The only bedroom has a queen sized bed, a radio/CD / MP 3 player with a compliment of CD's. There is a flat panel TV connected to cable. There is a DVD player and WIFI internet access.
To adjust you to the island pace and way of life, we have eliminated telephones. Most major cell phone carriers work.
Includes towels and linens.
The laundry area is shared with Rainbow House, with a private entrance giving you access to a tiled laundry area equipped with a washer and dryer.
Located conveniently more or less a block from the beach and town of Hanalei.

As a Cuban refugee I grew up on the beautiful island of Puerto Rico where I learned to surf. It was surf that brought me to Kaua'i where in 1984 with my brother we founded Kayak Kauai. I love my customers and in 1994 I married one of them and now spend 1/2 the year in Los Angeles with all my feisty girls (it's a matriarchy) and the other half hands on with Kayak Kauai.
Hope you enjoy your stay on Kaua'i, which has to rival any island on the globe.
Saludos y Aloha, Micco
Owner/Property Manager purchased this cottage in 1993
Ever since I sailed into Hanalei on a 48 foot ketch, it was my dream to live in Hanalei.
It has been my good fortune to have a fun outdoor adventure business but to also be in biking/walking distance of my vacation rental/home and of course, the SURF!
While much of Hawaii is quite beautiful, Hanalei is in a league of it's own.
I would say what I like overall about my property, is not having to get into a car each time I want to go to the beach. My property location is moments away from not only the bay but some great surf. The small town of Hanalei is also in walking distance.
If you end staying at the Cottage, try this:
Wake up and before the cobwebs of sleep are gone, walk in a Zombie like state to the beach, and take a dip in the ocean. It is an electric way to start the day.
If you patronize Kayak Kaua'i, mention you are staying at the Cottage or Rainbow House for a 10% discount off any tour and/or rentals.
we had an amazing 7 nites in this Cottage ...it was our honeymoon...so short but so good....perfect location for us , walking distance to the surf/beach and the town ...the place had every thing we need it ...we got to surf in the morning and come home rest and then go hiking ...waking up the the sound of the rain or to the birds singing was amazing...the weather was so perfect we didnt use the fan much , i loved laying in the grass at nite and watching the stars , so quite was able to meditate every morning ...our trip was short and we cant wait to come back again !!
I had an amazing 6 nights in Hanalei. I loved the dinosaur heads in the cottage. That was so awesome. I felt like I was in Indiana Jones' guest house :) I got to experience all of Kauai's weather while there! The sound of the morning rain was such a unique way to wake up.
I got some good surf sessions in Hanalei Bay during the big swell, but towards the end of the week the wind picked up. I did the Kalalau trail, but didn't have time to do the other hikes I wanted to do. My trip definitely wasn't long enough haha, I definitely need to return someday.
My husband and I had a lovely stay at Micco's cottage! We loved watching the birds from the lanai, and listening to the rain which always stopped miraculously by the time we were ready to head to the beach. :) We also loved the close walk to Hanalei bay. We stayed for 2 weeks and our first week we used for hiking/Kalalau and exploring - this is a wonderful place for a home base if you're exploring the island! Our second week we took advantage of how close our cottage was to the ocean and surfed/swam the beautiful bay every day.
The cottage is simple but has all the amenities you need - we cooked many nights in the kitchenette. We had a few visitors (ants) but Micco dealt with it so quickly, there was someone by to begin dealing with the issue within 24 hours, and they were gone soon after. One can expect a visitor or two in a tropical climate! :)
I would very much recommend staying here. It was a perfect place for a relaxing, simple honeymoon, or a jump off point for surfing and adventure. Thanks for the great stay!!
My husband and I just spent 3 nights in early November after an epic hike on the Kalalau Trail. The place is clean and and very quaint. We loved our stay! The cottage is very quiet except for the giant avocados that occasionally dropped on the roof! We spent our time walking to the beach, walking to town, or relaxing outside. If you want a small place in Hanalei, away from the Princeville scene, then this is the place.
Tranquil, rustic, traditional, simple & very charming.
We loved it. It is all of the above and more. A short walk to the breathtaking bay & also to the bars/restaurants & shops.
Hanalei is relaxed, Micco is easy going & helpful & the neighbourhood was quiet & peaceful.
If you want air con don't come here, if you don't like lizards & insects don't come here, if you get eaten by mozzy's wear ALOT of repellent!
And if you don't like the idea of being made jump by avocados falling on the roof - you had better get used to it!!
My wife and I stayed here for six days in March and loved it. In the mornings and evenings, we enjoyed listening from bed to the birds or rain or both. It was what I imagine Hanalei would have been like years ago, before noisy air conditioners, thick doors and double paned windows designed to keep the outside out. We felt immersed. We bbq'd, there is a hammock and we read instead of watch tv. The kitchen had what we needed, the shower was nice and the place was clean. One very rare feature is that you can walk to both the beach or Hanalei town, which we did everyday. This was important to us. Also, the price was half that of other north shore cottages we were considering. Its always nice to save a couple hundred bucks per day. Lastly, from our first contact, Micco was friendly and easygoing, which in turn put us at ease and really sealed the deal for us. We had 15 other inquiries out at other cottages and houses on the north shore and though those owners all seemed very nice, Micco stood out. Mahalo, I caught a wave for you.
Some of the iconic highlights: hiking, sea kayaking or boating the Na Pali Coast; visiting Limahuli Gardens; Surfing Hanalei Bay; bird watching Kilauea Lighhouse; kayaking Wailua River; and sightseeing and/or hiking Koke'e and Waimea Canyon.
