About PHIL DENNIS
I was very lucky to be born in Broadstairs and I have lived here all my life. Barnaby's Lodge was one of the first fisherman's cottages to be built in this charming old town. I am a retired builder now and have lovingly restored this unique cottage to it's former glory. I have managed " The Fishermen's Cottages" for 23 years, which now includes, The Fisherman's Cottage, 2 Union Square and Beach House which are also on the Home and Away website and are situated in the best locations. I really enjoy in making sure that all of our customers have a great stay, with 5 star customer care! If you want to know the best restaurants, pubs or beaches to visit then just let me know and I'll be happy to assist. I'm always here to help! I have understood what everyone is looking for and number one is cleanliness which is at the top of our list. We will work hard to ensure that your stay here in Broadstairs is both comfortable and enjoyable so hopefully you'll want to return again!
Why PHIL DENNIS chose Broadstairs
Steeped in history this cottage was built in 1680 and was used by the smugglers, there is still the secret door in the lounge that they used to escape from the custom officers. Parts of this cottage are built out of chalk blocks carved out of the local cliffs with flint and old oak ships timbers, really anything they could find on the beach. This is the best location to stay in Broadstairs, tucked away in a little courtyard yet so close to the beaches, shops and restaurants which are all only a minutes' walk away. Plus what a great place with all it's charm and character of a Fisherman's hide away, how could you not resist coming to stay.
What makes this Cottage unique

Being right on the tip of the South East of England, we have our own little micro-climate here producing some of the best weather in the UK, with temperatures reaching up to 30 degrees. You will be guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome whenever you come to Broadstairs. The town is steeped in history and charm and has been captivating visitors for generations.Barnaby's Lodge is a fantastic base from which to explore everything the town and surrounding area has to offer.

Late summer break
Exactly as advertised, very clean, comfortable and homely and in a superb position. Liaison with Phil the owner via website made our arrival very simple. Would certainly recommend.
Another lovely stay in broadstairs and in this lovely cottage.

Wonderful, relaxing holiday (and the dog enjoyed it too)
Barnaby's Lodge was very well equipped for our stay. Being just off the main street it was very quiet and relaxing and not overlooked. We will definitely be returning. A couple of small issues were quickly dealt with either by phone or a visit. There was a book from the owners with some useful tips and information about Broadstairs with places to visit, nearby shops, restaurants etc. All in all a really lovely first time experience for us to Broadstairs.
a great location but a little on the small side.....
It's in a fantastic location - you are pretty much in the centre of town - immediate access to the promenade, the harbour and onto Stone Bay. It's just so very weeny - fine for a couple with two kids (even then a bunk or two singles would have been better). But for four adults?..... The kitchen is so tight for space - thankfully the weather was lovely so we could sit outside but if it had rained it would have been awful. The fridge is woefully inadequate - glad we didn't do our usual big shop for the week on the way into Broadstairs like we would usually do - just about enough space for a day's food. And there is no soundproofing (the doors and old timbers and don't fit tightly) so expect to hear bathroom and bedroom noises. And it's only a shower-head over the bath with no screen or curtain. It's an old lovely property and it is in a great position but we found those issues annoying. We paid exactly the same for a harbour-side four bedroom property with two bathrooms and a further loo (admittedly outside of school holidays) in Cornwall in May and that felt a bargain. This felt a bit over-priced as it's so bijou.
Been before, loved it both times. The dog was very happy too!
Wonderful location, delightful cottage in peaceful courtyard just a stones throw from the beach
The cottage is within easy reach of several Blue Flag beaches, local shops, restaurants and wine bars. It is tucked away in an idyllic courtyard yet still close to all the amenities Broadstairs has to offer. The perfect bolthole for a wonderful holiday!
Barnaby's Lodge is within easy reach of great beaches, local shops, restaurants, bistros and wine bars which are all only a minute's walk away.

Broadstairs has an excellent selection of pubs, restaurants, bistros and takeaways - Italian, Mexican, Indian, Thai, Chinese, or traditional English food are all within easy walking distance.
If shopping is your pleasure, drive out to the new Shopping Centre at Westwood Cross, just five minutes' away, where you will find a large selection of shops and a department store.
If you enjoy the outdoor life, then take a walk along the Viking Coastal Trail or visit historic Canterbury only 30 minutes' away by car or train.

You will be guaranteed a warm and friendly welcome whenever you come to Broadstairs. This picturesque town has a special atmosphere all of its own. Originally a small fishing hamlet, the town's ancient maritime past is nowhere more clearly seen, than in the huddle of cottages, old customs house & 16th century weather- boarded boat house which nestles around the harbour.
