Passive house: in passive house is a house the energy consumption is very low, so it is ecological. This concept was developed in 1988 in Germany, in an institute specialized in the environment. It was actually in Germany where they created the first prototype. In a passive there is no need for air currents since the internal temperature is always homogeneous. A passive house is also equipped with ventilation, allowing a constant renewal of the air inside so people do not get that feeling of confinement. The air is filtered and renewed at regular intervals, which contribute to the excellent quality of the air, far from the air we usually breath in a traditional home. There is also no need to air the hour like a conventional house, because the usual humidity and odour problems are greatly reduced. Not to mention that the air filter system is ideal for allergic individuals. The triple glazing offers unparalleled acoustic comfort as well as the smart way in which the windows were located since it promotes the filtration of daylight, ensuring visual comfort in every room.
The owner, Christian Leclerc and his sister Mijo Dieterle (head of the house, she will be the one welcoming you) built these two semi-detached houses on a family plot from 1850. This is Mijos main residence and Christian wanted to keep the place as well since it has seen 6 generations growing in its grounds.
Mijo Dieterle purchased this house in 2013
A little avant-garde, we were attracted by the adventure of making two passive (ecological) houses which were to be economical and healthy. This concept appears every now and then in France but is not very well known. In fact, the concept was developed in Germany in 1988, in an institute specialized in the environment. Moreover, it was actually in Germany where they created the first prototype of a passive house. In a passive there is no need for air currents since the internal temperature is always homogeneous. A passive house is also equipped with ventilation, allowing a constant renewal of the air inside so people do not get that feeling of confinement. The triple glazing offers unparalleled acoustic comfort as well as the smart way in which the windows were located since it promotes the filtration of daylight, ensuring visual comfort in every room.
Mijo has been living in the house since November 2012 and can attest to the well being it provides. The winter was harsh and yet, the internal temperature never dropped below 20° without any heating.
Given the price of energy these days, one could be certain that these constructions will become more popular!
This holiday rental is unique in France and it offers you the opportunity to discover and enjoy the unparalleled comfort that a passive home provides, equipped with a VMC turbofan and a central home automation system.
Away from the street, you will be able to appreciate the quiet areas, the greenery and the birds singing, all while being at only 500 metres from the Cathedral of Saint Eienne, listed by the UNESCO in 1992 as part of the World Heritage and which faces a marsh ranked in 2003 in the list of natural monuments and sites.
This was our third stay in this incredible house in Bourges. The owner has done an extraordinary job in creating a very modern house in the center of town. She has paid attention to all details, both large and small - the layout is excellent, the bedrooms are comfortable, the bathrooms are large with excellent showers, the kitchen is very large and beautifully arranged. The lighting system itself is terrific. There is a small but lovely garden in the back.
Parking for three cars in the basement garage, which also contains a big laundry room and a large room with a home theater. The owner is a wonderful woman who is a kind, witty, and sympathetic hostess. This is one of our most favorite vacation rentals in France, and we look forward to returning here. Merci beaucoup, Mijo!
This house is superb. It was brilliantly designed by the owner's sister who paid attention to even the smallest detail. It has a very comfortable salon, a brilliantly designed kitchen, marvelous bathrooms, nice bedrooms, a nice garden - and even a home theater in the basement. We have rented over 100 cottages in France in the past 15 years, and this is one of the best (we're going back for a second visit this autumn). A wonderful place to stay when we visit our favorite cathedral in France (unequalled for its architecture and its brilliant stained glass windows).

Passive house was ideally located within walking distance to Bourges centre and the Marais. We were 3 couples so the 2 full bathrooms with and the additional WC provided additional convenience. The house was very comfortable. We had wonderful weather during our stay and the patio was perfect for al-fresco meals. This is certainly one of the best houses we have stayed in. Furthermore, Mijo was a welcoming host.
