A 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom luxury duplex situated in the best area...
Sprawling art filled apartment with large terrace
After another two-bedroom apartment we had reserved had problems with water and gas, we were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded by Karin at Home at Homes to this elegant three-bedroom home in the high end Salamanca neighborhood. It's well equipped with a separate master suite, soaking tub, strong water pressure, a/c, beautiful art, and no less than three areas to dine--should you feel like staying in (but why would you with so many wonderful restaurants in the area). Located near the American Embassy, with excellent shopping nearby, it's a 7 minute taxi ride to the Prado. We were near a subway station on the corner, but Uber (costing approximately 5 Euros to all the sites) was so cheap and pleasant to use that we opted to forgo public transportation. After long days of sightseeing, we enjoyed the sunset from our terrace with wine and cheese from a nearby market before venturing out for dinner at one of the many restaurants recommended by lovely Karin. All in all an excellent stay for three friends on a girlfriends getaway.
Beautiful Apartment in Exclusive Neighborhood
The apartment has a beautiful balcony to watch sunsets and ample room. The bathrooms in the two bedrooms on the first floor were small and only the upstairs bedroom had an AC. The apartment is split into two and the upper loft had tricky stairs that one could easily trip. Beautiful and exclusive Salamanca neighborhood near exclusive shops and restaurants. However, this apartment is far from The Prado, Plaze Mayor and other sightseeing sights. In the future, I would prefer an apartment within walking distance.
Communication with HOME Away could have been much better. There was a last minute problem with our original booking and they had to scramble to place us in a new apartment. Emails were not returned and I had to call them in Madrid to figure out what was happening. Also they did not communicate quickly enough about our deposit. A detailed map of restaurants, supermarkets, and the metro along with suggestions would have been appreciated. However, they did not charge us extra for our better and bigger apartment and in the end we were very pleased with our accomodations.
Dear Pamela, thank you for your review. We are indeed glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at this property and your stay with us in Madrid. We are indeed sorry that the original property you booked had a last minute problem with the hot water and we went out of our way to ensure you a true upgrade as this property was three times as expensive than your original booking. Please note that the original property you booked was twice as far from the Prado, Plaza Mayor etc. as it was in the Chamberi district. I recommend the next time you come to Madrid you book something in the historic center of Madrid. This property you stayed at is situated in the luxurious Barrio de Salamanca with Gucci, Escada and Cartier on the corner and indeed not in the historic center.
The whole property has AC as I explained at the check in with your friends so I am very sorry to hear that you did not use it.
We certainly provided a map of Madrid at the check in, ample information on Restaurants and places to go and where in constant contact via whatsaap with Caroline Kane ( I am indeed sorry Pamela that I did not have your mobile or I would have also sent you all the information too).
Pamela, we are Home at Homes and not Home Away hence I am indeed sorry to hear that comunication with them was slow.
As for the security deposit, it was returned 5 days after your stay as when you left there was a bank holiday. Home Away gives up to 7 days for the refund of the deposit.
Once again, thank you for taking the time in wrtiting this review and we are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. With warm regards from the whole HH Team
