We were very pleased with our stay. Mary was very nice! We were greeted by Ron and Mary who showed us around and had a huge bowl of snacks waiting for us. Our stay was very nice. We had lots of fun and enjoyed our time here. Mary knew we had kids with us and really put us at ease by being very understanding of kid behaviors. She also was so kind to bring us a Pack and Play for our one year old grandson. We didn't even have to ask for it. The beach was fun, the backyard was great and we loved seeing the wild turkeys. We would definitely come back!
We were in town for our son's wedding, and this house worked out great for our need. Mary made sure our arrival was a welcoming feeling, and she had a fruit basket and some sweet bread waiting for us. There were enough beds in the house to accommodate everyone in our family and the house was very spacious. Plus the deck out back was wonderful with a fire pit and a popcorn maker. What FUN!! It was close to the lake, a quiet neighborhood, and plenty of parking for when our visitors came. I would definitely rent this house again.
The house was indeed incredibly spacious and fit all of our huge family reunion. Mary keeps a very tidy house with all the clean linens, extra pillows and comforters, etc. we could need. She was even gracious enough to leave snacks and a few necessities in the cupboards. The huge back deck with several nice table/chair sets and backyard were a pleasure to hang out in, and having a hammock and firepit was really cool. Lawn was well-manicured, fountain in the backyard was running, and she even left firelogs for our use.
I'm knocking off one star because the house was not perfect, but it is after all an older house, and for the price per bedroom you can't expect a palace. The downstairs rooms were a little unpolished, but that's to be expected in a finished basement. It was suitable to fit our huge group, and in fact it was perfect for that branch of the family because everyone could sleep together in their own little "compound." A few minor wall scuffs here and there did not in any way diminish the loveliness of the rest of the house, especially the living room and master suite. Kitchen was big and great to hang out in.
House is about 3 short blocks to little Sanders Beach and Tubbs Hill, a pleasant walk through a really nice neighborhood. A five-or-so-minute drive to the cool shops and restaurants of Sherman Avenue, which has really gentrified in the many years since I've lived there, and the new and improved city parks near the CDA resort. CDA is so much lovelier than it was when I grew up there.
Mary went above and beyond expectations to ensure a smooth rental process. She made every effort to make sure our family had a memorable stay. Overall, I would recommend this house.
Our family was in town for the wedding and we were sure lucky to find this place. It could accommodate all of us and when we had friends over there was room to entertain. Huge covered deck in the back in case of inclement weather and everyone took their turn on the hammock. Although the house is getting dated the rooms were clean and everything we needed was provide. Close to the public beach and within walking distance of downtown and Tubb's hill. If we have another large family gathering in the area we will call Mary to see if we can rent her house again.
The location is IDEAL for downtown access to restaurants, parks, hiking trails etc.....
Sadly the house is not safe for adults and children.
The home is in BAD CONDITION. While there we had plumbing issues, electrical, kitchen and its contents were unusable, structural issues thru the house, pond with stagnant water, outdoor area completely overgrown, and inside generally unclean.
We found the owner Mary EXTREMELY NICE and helpful!!!! However we all feel that it is time for the property to be sold as we don't feel she is capable or willing to care for the home when it comes to a rental property.
Beautiful, spacious home. Walking distance to great waking trails with nice views. Shopping and waterfront are walking distance as well. Great for families and large groups. Owners are attentive and friendly. We would definitely return.
The perfect location in a quiet neighborhood and a short walk to everything Coeur d'Alene has to offer: Downtown shops and restaurants, Tubbs Hill, McEuen Park and, of course, the Lake. Also a short, 40 minute, drive to Silverwood Theme and Water Park (a highly recommended day trip!)
The outdoor space has a gas grill, fire pit, hammock and more than adequate seating and dining space for our large group of 15.
Indoors, there is a lot of furniture, which means plenty of seating and dining space but some of the rooms are a bit over furnished. Not much an issue for us, since we spent most of our time outdoors. The house sleeps 15 (13 in beds and 2 on a queen size air mattress which is provided). Plenty of towels, bed linens, pillows and blankets to go around.
The kitchen has good prep space, ample seating, dishwasher and microwave. The fridge was a bit small, but by keeping beverages in coolers the space worked out ok. An easy drive to the local market and larger supermarkets made shopping for meals a breeze.
Note: there is a 'swamp cooler' in the living room, which kept the downstairs cool during the midday heat. Opening the windows at night kept the space comfortable in the mornings and evenings without the 'cooler'. One window air conditioner in the largest bedroom and fans in other rooms, so the upstairs got a bit warm at times. The three sleeping areas in the basement were cool but a bit humid toward the end of our stay (a dehumidifier is provided but wasn't really needed).
Mary was a gracious host and responded quickly to provide assistance to get us settled in on our first couple of days.
We had a great stay and would recommend this rental for large groups who to enjoy Coeur d'Alene.
