Wonderful rustic cabin
The place was perfect for our girls' weekend. Music and Wine, seating was limited in the "family" room so we hung out in the kitchen; closer to the food and beverages (so a plus). No TV, spotty internet, depends on how you think about it, could be good or bad. The kitchen is well equipped but the pantry has salt and pepper. No hairdryer. Awesome rocking chair on the front porch; buy bug spray. The road is busy during the day but I live in the suburbs of a major city so...not bad from my point of view. You can catch the bus from the bottom of the driveway, don't be shy they'll stop for you. Acadia National Park is so beautiful, enjoy :)) Host is very attentive to you.
Rustic, noisy cabin
The positive is that the cabin was in a great location for us—near Echo lake and SW Harbor and easy access to, but away from Bar Harbor. While we had read the reviews, we did not realize just how noisy the traffic was, even late into the night. The noise along with the summer heat disturbed our sleep, even after long days of hiking. We had to use earplugs to sleep. The cabin was stuffy at night, but cool in the morning (July). We stayed out, enjoying Acadia, during the day. The window and front door screens had some holes and screened door did not shut tightly, so had to decide between keeping out bugs and having an evening breeze. Large black ants were in cabin, mainly in bathroom, about a dozen at a time. One hook of hammock was not secured into tree and my young daughter fell to the ground. While we do not need anything fancy, we want to be comfortable and sleep well. Unfortunately, this cabin did not provide that. With some minor improvements, this place would be more comfortable. If you are looking for peace and quiet, go elsewhere.
The perfect getaway
My sister and I stayed here as part of a road trip through New England as an early-40th birthday celebration. This was the perfect space for us! It had everything that we needed. It was rustic yet comfortable. The lake across the street was perfect; we walked over to put our feet in the water, but would have loved to kayak there as we saw many people doing. Per Pepper's recommendation, we rented bikes from Southwest Cycle. Dave and the rest of the team there were AMAZING. They made great recommendations, and we loved taking bikes over to Acadia to ride the carriage roads. Dave also recommended going to Sand Beach and walking the Ocean Path, which was one of the most memorable parts of our trip. We ate dinner at Rogue down the street from the cottage - JJ and Maureen are the owners, and the food was fantastic. Fine dining in a very comfortable setting.
We loved how quiet the cabin was, we saw deer on the property, and it was the perfect home base for our Acadia adventures. I've already told everyone who will listen that they should stay at this place, and Sister and I hope that we can come back again some day. Thanks to Pepper for all of her assistance! She was speedy in communication and so easy to work with.
We're already daydreaming about our next trip there!
This cute cabin is rustic, but just what you need in Acadia. Right down the street from a beautiful trail and close to a grocery and little town. We enjoyed being in this side of the National Park.
Slightly noisy from the road but didn’t interfere with sleep or evenings in the cabin.
Echo Lake Cabin
Loved the cabin. It was quaint, but had everything we needed. I would recommend this cabin to those that like the basics, no frills Maine experience.
Beautiful location and a truly amazing place to stay!
Enjoy the privacy of your own woods with all the activities of Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island close at hand. Convenient central location from which to explore the entire island and all it has to offer.
