Lavender Cottage is available for weekly self catering stays and short breaks outside school holidays. The cottage is ideal for small families and couples with bath/shower facilities on each floor of accommodation. The cottage was rated 4 stars by Visit Britain last year so is well equipped especially in the kitchen.
There's lots to do in Lyme Regis being in the middle of the Jurassic Coast between Charmouth and Seaton. Plenty of walking by the sea or countryside inland. Many restaurants including Mark Hix's Fish & Oyster Restaurant and Hugh Fernley Whittingstall's River Cottage Canteen in Axminster

I have fallen in love with Lyme Regis. The stay was too short. I liked having our own base and will definitely book this cottage again. The place sleeps 4 but there was only 2 of us but it was great to have that much space to ourselves so I would definitely recommend this over a hotel. There was a good size kitchen but we didn't cook but if we stayed longer we would have definitely cooked. It was super comfortable and close to everything. Thank you Mark.
We arrived late Friday night. We knew the property was on a narrow lane so parked up first at the recommended car park. The car park is up a steep hill and we needed to return with the parking permit. You will need to be fairly fit for this. On opening the front door we were greeted to a warm welcoming room. Split over three levels both the deco and furnishings were very in keeping with the character of the cottage. The kitchen had everything we needed and the two bathrooms were ideal with two teenage boys in tow. We would prefer towels to be included in the total price and not as an added extra. We would return to this property.
We didn't actually manage to stay for various reasons but did drop in to check on the property and it was a shame that we couldn't as it looked lovely. Well appointed, clean, cosy, great position and a charming garden. Would stay again if we were in the area. Thanks
Lovely small Cottage, for 4 people, with 2 bathrooms. Excellent position for exploring Lyme Regis and surrounding areas. Minor criticisms are that Shower door had broken runner and net curtains were precariously held up.
Not suitable for people with mobility problems.
We had a great time.
Thank you.
My two boys and I stayed there for an extended weekend. The property was perfect and centrally located. Looking forward to more stays in the future.
Lavender Cottage is in a fantastic location and has potential to be a lovely holiday home. It was clean, has everything you need but is a bit shabby and in need of modernisation. The newly refurbished kitchen is lovely but both bathrooms need attention and the sitting room is an assortment of mismatched furniture and not very comfortable. The shower cubicle was grotty, one of the doors was hanging off and the shower was running water all the time. It could not be switched off and was not pleasant to shower in. When we arrived we could not stop to unload the car where advised, since the area had been chained off and padlocked. The access code we were given was incorrect so we could not get into the cottage. The towels we paid extra for were not there - all minor points maybe, but add up to a disappointing first impression. Add to that the British weather which was not kind, resulted in us giving up and leaving after 2 nights!
Easily accessible, and only three hours from London and the Midlands.
Nearest train station is Axminster and airports are Exeter, Bristol and Southampton.
There is parking nearby in a public car park only 4 minutes walk from the house. We offer a discounted permit for £30 for the week. You can unload outside the house.
Lyme Regis is away from it all, nestling in the unspoilt West Dorset countryside. Part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site, and surrounded by areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Lyme Regis, the “Pearl of Dorset”, is famous for its fossils, its historic old town, its Cobb and its beaches. And now it's a destination for food lovers, with Hix Oyster and Fish House in the town, and River Cottage HQ and Axminster Canteen both close by.
The old town, dating back to the 14th century, is an ideal place to walk and explore the local shops, art galleries, newly replanted gardens with myriad places to stop to eat and drink. Built around the River Lym, Lyme has its own working Water Mill, recently refurbished to include an electricity generator. Lyme Regis is very special in that it is probably the smallest town in the country to boast its own cinema, theatre, and museum.
The Cobb attracts visitors – not just for its visual splendour and its magnificent naval architecture, but also for its connections with great literature. Indeed, people come from all over the world to see the steps where Louisa Musgrove fell in Jane Austen’s Persuasion; or to see where Meryl Streep stood, looking forlornly out to sea, in the film adaptation of John Fowles’ The French Lieutenant’s Woman. And art lovers are drawn to Lyme for both its beautiful scenery and for its wide range of art galleries.
Holiday makers will enjoy a family-friendly, sandy beach and an often-surprising micro-climate in the shelter of Lyme Bay. Marine Parade is a great place to walk, sit, enjoy the views and visit its small shops and eating places. Here the seafront facilities will soon benefit from restoration of the Marine Parade Shelters, ready for summer 2011. The town and surrounding area have many attractions and host a range of family-centred events, including a Jazz Festival, a Fossil Festival, Life Boat Week and a Regatta & Carnival Week.
For visitors who have had enough of the hurly-burly, and need to escape, there are many delightful places to stay to suit all budgets. You will be able to enjoy walks in the surrounding countryside and there are many opportunities to go out on a boat to view the glorious coastline from the sea or to fish in the clear waters of Lyme Bay.
