Number 18 is a 200 year old Grade 2 listed cottage, tucked away down a lane in the village of Wingfield. It is 20 minutes by road or train from historic Bath and 5 minutes from beautiful Bradford-on-Avon and 30 minutes from Longleat. We offer a warm welcome to all visitors, including families or couples. It is a quiet retreat from which to explore the local area, and ideal for a romantic getaway. It offers an escape to the country, whilst being close to many interesting and historic places. Well behaved dogs welcome.
The lounge has a 3 seater sofa, an arm chair, a dining table and a log burner for cosy evenings in, with logs and kindling provided for your first fire. Further logs can be purchased at cost price from us or from local shops or garages.
There is a modern, well-equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, oven and an induction hob as well as a Nespresso coffee machine and toaster.
The newly renovated, downstairs bathroom has a lovely shower over the smaller size bath. All towels and toiletries are provided. The bathroom is on the ground floor with a window that opens up into the rear garden.
As is usual in a cottage of this age, the stairs are steep and there is one doorway that can catch out the unwary (and tall) as it is rather low.
Your comfort and enjoyment are really important to us and so Number 18 is furnished to the standard and style we would want when holidaying. It is a characterful, individual and eclectic space with many interesting touches, for instance curtains made of old French linen sheets with the initials of the couple who owned them embroidered on the fabric, and a lovely old artist's table as well as old, wooden floorboards throughout.
All linens and towels are provided. Further towels can be provided for those wanting a "wild" swim in the river, just a mile away.
Number 18 has been described by our guests as "quaint", "secluded", "romantic" and "an ideal location for quiet, cosy nights in."
The village of Wingfield has a popular pub, The Poplars, which is within walking distance, a school and a church; it is a quiet base from which to explore.
There are small cottage gardens to the front and rear of the cottage with a bench at the front, and garden furniture at the back.
There is free, off-road parking for 2 cars to the side of the cottage.
Well behaved dogs are welcome as long as they stay downstairs!
I have another holiday cottage 2 doors away in the same little row - the HomeAway ID is HUK 8691876. It has 2 double bedrooms and can sleep 4 people and a baby/infant.
The cottage is provided with maps of the area surrounding Wingfield, and there are guide books on Bath and books giving information about walks.
