Action packed family fun holiday

  • 5 of 5

This property is in a very rural peaceful location. We are a party of 10 adults and 5 children who absolutely loved all the activities on offer. The pool was fabulous, we played tennis and golf every day. There is so much space surrounding the house which we made use of to play rounders and cricket.

The house is very well equipped with everything you need. A little more outside lighting would have been nice for outside dining.

We had the private chef cook for us on three occasions which was very high standard and quality. Would definitely recommend.

The nocturnal market was great fun.

The house is quite dark and would benefit from some more lighting, especially when the ladies were getting ready for dinner!!

Overall we had a fantastic week and made many wonderful memories.

Would recommend to anyone wanting to get away from it all.

Stayed at the manor for a week. Amazing place to spend time with family and friends. Weather was fantastic and the facilities are great with lots of activities to do. Very secluded location so we were never disturbed. Would definitely recommend a stay.

A Great Family Holiday

  • 4 of 5

Montauriol is set in a very peaceful and picturesque part of rural France but close to several small Bastide towns where good restaurants were to be found together with regular local night markets. The extensive estate grounds provide stunning views from the terrace and provide plenty of space for all to find a quiet spot.

The facilities both inside and out were excellent for our group of 10 ranging from grandparents to small children and a baby. The kitchen and utility areas were very well equipped as were the outside pool and very comprehensive games facilities - there was so much for the children to do without leaving the estate. Dining al fresco was a real pleasure made easy by the close proximity of the terrace to the kitchen.

The owners, who live about 30 minutes away, made us very welcome and were available to respond to any problems if required and visited from time to time to maintain the pool, remove rubbish etc.

Overall we had a great family holiday in very tranquil surroundings.

In desperate need of investment

  • 2 of 5

This Manior benefits from a throughly beautiful location. Whilst the pool and tennis court are fine, the bedrooms, kitchen, lounge and bathrooms are in desperate need of investment. The days of 1950s French grandma interiors are long past. Reliable hot water and wifi are very basic needs which this house sadly failed repeatedly. It could be so much better but sadly someway off.

Owner's Response: Dear Tim S. Thank you very much for your review. I like to remind you that pictures of all interiors and bathrooms of our property are available on our site. Other guests before you appreciated the comfortable and generous French ambiance and the French provincial antiques .I am very sorry if its not to your taste. This also concerns our bathrooms and we think good and hygienic cleaning is more important then the last fashion in tiles and taps.I am sure that your father in law, who envited you, took a good look at our site beforehand. About the hot water problem, the technicien ordered the wrong part and simply forgot to start the extra electric boiler he installed himself for cases of emergency like this. Things happen and not always for a reason. About the wifi, it got off after a summer storm and it was very difficult to motivate Orange to send a technician for repairs. The appointment was delayed also, because of that same storm. We inquired at the city hall and the mayor assured us we will hopefully dispose of a fibre connection in June 2017. We hope our answer is sufficient and like to have you back, kind regards from sunny France. John and Joanna , owners

Great stay in excellent surroundings

  • 5 of 5

A group of 18 people, 7 adults and 11 children, had an excellent stay at the Manoir. The facilities were very accommodating for this size of a group and catered well to our different needs. Whether it was playing tennis, basketball or practicing our short game at two golf greens or just relaxing by the pool you could easily keep everyone in the group both occupied and relaxed.

The house was actually better than we expected. It was very clean and tidy. Household appliances are new and of good quality. The kitchen was well equipped. But most important the Manoir offered a great country atmosphere were the days were packed with activity and ended with a dinner at the patio and a cozy fire at the fire pit in the garden.

The owners welcomed us with cold beverages and offered great and attentive service throughout the stay. We would recommend Manoir De Montauriol to everyone looking for a nice, serene country environment but access to sporting activities, especially larger groups.

Thank you Johanna for you great service and I hope to see you again at the Manoir in the future.

Nos vacances en famille ;-)

  • 5 of 5

Montauriol is a beautiful and huge manor, particularly suitable for your successful holiday with family or friends. Manor Montauriol is situated at the southern border of the Dordogne. Thanks to it´s location, both the points of interest in the Dordogne as well as those in the Lot and Garonne are within reach.

Come and enjoy 23 hectares of pure nature, where the air is still clean and where the stars and the Milky Way can be seen at night.

The village of Biron with its impressive castle is very close, just like the three mediaeval bastide villages of Monflanquin, Villeral and Monpazier, where time has stood still.

At a five minutes drive, in La Capelle Biron, you will find a small super market with a cash dispenser, a post office, restaurants, a car workshop and a medical centre. There is also an adventurous climbing track for children up to 16 years of age.

Every day, there is a market in your neighbourhood, where you can buy tasteful cheeses, meat, fruits or nut cake, directly from the farmers. On each day, from 7 o´clock in the evening, you can find a nocturnal market somewhere in your surroundings, this is a market where you can select the ingredients for your meal yourself which will be prepared for you in the same market stand on the spot. You will dine together with other visitors at long tables, joined by the locals, who also know to find their place to enjoy these cosy and wonderful nocturnal markets.

You can find bigger shops 15 minutes away in Fumel Monflanquin and in Villereal. Bergerac is also worth a visit, with its ancient city centre, nice terraces and the boat trips on the Dordogne. There´s Sarlat Cahors and Domme, with their picturesque little streets and the mediaeval façades, or the place of pilgrimage Rocamadour.

There are too many castles to mention, like the defensive castle of Bonaguil, the Lanquis castle or Les Milandes, where Josephine Baker raised her foster child.

There are too many fascinating caves to mention; at Les Eyzies, Lascaux, Gouffre de Padirac, Roche St. Christophe, Domme and at many other places.

In summer time, you can visit the weekly antique- and flea markets.

At the many well-known wine Houses of Cahors, Médoc, Duras, Bergerac, Entre Deux Mers, or at many smaller local wine producers, you can buy and taste wines, the best souvenir from your holiday in France. And this in combination with duck breast, foie gras-pate (a pate made from goose liver), quiches, fresh fruit, walnut cake or a good piece of French cheese.

There are restaurants in all price ranges and most of them work with fresh product from the area. We will gladly give you recommendations or make your reservation. The Dordogne is famous for its food which is exceptionally tasteful and of great quality. Delicious holiday!

This accommodation is for rent in the low season for 12 persons, please see advertisement 1007600.

We also offer a luxury villa for rent in the Dordogne Valley, for 9 persons, please see advertisement 1001753.
