Overview

Cappagh Farmhouse Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, private garden

The Coach House is a meticulously renovated 18th century stable block nestled in the spectacular valley of the River Nore, one mile away from the beautiful village of Inistioge. We are registered with Failte Ireland and have been awarded 5 stars.

It is in a private & secluded courtyard setting, but with close access to plenty of local facilities in nearby Thomastown (3m) and Kilkenny (12m).

The property itself has been lovingly restored to the highest specifications with hand-crafted oak woodwork and natural stone throughout. Clean, light and spacious, it sleeps 8-10 people in two king-sized double bedrooms, a twin and a master bedroom with king-sized bed, an en suite bathroom and a balcony overlooking the valley. An extensively equipped kitchen, including a broad range of herbs and spices, opens out onto a breakfast patio which overlooks the private garden. There is a downstairs shower room, a utility room with a washer and drier, and a large conservatory that leads to the two vaulted downstairs bedrooms. Upstairs, the comfortably furnished sitting room has a wood burning stove and a selection of DVDs and Cds as well as satellite television and WIFI. All duvets, bed clothes and towels are inclusive, as are firewood and oil.

The local village of Inistioge is a delightfullly picturesque setting on the bank of the Nore with a number of traditional pubs, cafés and restaurants. It is the perfect location for hikes and country walks, especially in the grounds of the dazzling Woodstock Estate gardens.

Nearby Thomastown has an international reputation for its arts and crafts, boasting a variety of studios and workshops to visit, galleries and exhibitions, an artisan chocolatier, cafés and numerous pubs where one can unwind with a pint and some live music.

There are no less than four golf courses within 5-10 mile radius including the famous Mount Juliet Hotel where one can indulge in a spot of horse riding or fly fishing.

Warm, comfortable, beautiful house in easy distance of many sites

  • 5 of 5

My family of four plus my father just spent a week here and it couldn't have been better. The house was beautiful, welcoming, clean and had more than enough space for all of us. It was well-supplied and we appreciated having items like dish soap, laundry soap and sugar available so we didn't have to buy them for just one week. We enjoyed cooking and playing games at the house as well as using it as a base for exploring southwestern Ireland. We had a lovely walk into Inistioge from the house, seeing the famous bridge and the lovely town, churches and cemetery and picking blackberries along the road coming home. We also spent time in Thomastown (about 15 minutes away) and Kilkenny (about a 25 minute drive). We did a day visit to the Irish National Heritage Park in Wexford and then went to the Dunbrody Famine Ship in New Ross on the way back, and we'd really recommend both of those to visitors interested in history. It was our pleasure to spend our vacation in this lovingly restored and well-maintained historic property.

A Magical Trip Back in Time

  • 5 of 5

The Coach House is truly magical, like a portal back in time. The property and home were just what our family was looking for for our trip to the Irish countryside. The place is huge, our group of 7 adults was more than comfortable. We enjoyed the full kitchen and cooked several meals. The only reason I would not recommend the property is if Fast wifi is absolutely necessary for your stay. We had no problem with this, so 5 stars it is! Thank you Owen, we hope to be back!

Beautiful house, great location

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in the beautiful coachhouse was very enjoyable. The house was clean and inviting and large enough for our group of ten adults. We were able to prepare meals in the morning and evening and during the day we ventured out to Kilkenney and Waterford. I would recommend this house to anyone traveling in County Carlow. My only regret was that we didn't plan to stay there longer!

Absolutely wonderful. Wanted to take a long term lease.

  • 5 of 5

Everything exceeded my expectations. The architecture is amazing and the detailing is perfect with quality construction throughout. The owner really did a outstanding job. Creature comforts are well attended to. WiFi needs some attention but that, in the scheme of things, is a very minor detraction. I would recommend the facility to my best friends. The village is welcoming with hosts that are varied and interesting. Characters abound opportunities for interaction with locals, who are very well informed, provide memorable experiences. I expect to be back.

Lovely place

  • 4 of 5

We came to Ireland for my daughters wedding. We all stayed together here in the Coach House. It was very cozy. We could all hang out together in the kitchen for the few meals we ate here or living room watching TV with a fire to keep us warm. We could also have alone time in one of the 4 bedrooms or lounge in the sun room/hall area. The beds were comfy and the kitchen was well stocked. Daniel was so friendly and gave us some recommendations and shared a few stories with us. Circle of Friends (oh the desserts) and Woodstock Gardens are must stops in Inistioge. Loved the feel of Kilkenny and went here many times! Everyone we ran into while on our stay so was friendly. A trip we will never forget. You will enjoy your stay here!

Relaxing spot to enjoy the quiet beauty

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Coach house was wonderful! The property is very spacious and beautiful, as the photos show. Our family of six adults were extremely comfortable there, and all would have enjoyed a longer stay. Owen was very gracious in greeting us and explaining the house to us. It was a pleasure dealing with him.The bread and cake were a lovely surprise to find upon our arrival. The house is so well equipped that you can easily cook in for your meals, but Thomastown and Kilkenny are an easy drive if you choose to go there. The Coach House is definitely a place that we would enjoy staying in again!

The house is set on its own private grounds in a courtyard setting, 1 mile from the village of Inistioge. Inistioge is a beautiful and historic village on the river Nore in South Kilkenny. Its special character has made it one of the most visited places in the South East of Ireland for many decades.Nestling in the Nore valley it offers some of the best scenery in the region particularly in the recently restored gardens of the Woodstock estate. There is lots to do and when you tire of river paths and woodland hikes you can choose to eat and drink in one of our excellent restaurants and pubs.

There are 4 golf courses within 5-10 miles radius, including the famous Mount Juliet.

The medieval city of Kilkenny is only 12 miles away, an historical and artistic centre.

The area is also famous for it's trout and salmon fishing.
