Villa Belvedere, now a holiday apartment house, was founded as a small hotel a short time before the Winter Olympic Games of Cortina in 1956. Over the years it has been enlarged and renovated repeatedly, and its fifty year history accounts for the subtle charm evoked by its walls and the people it has hosted throughout the years.
It is located in San Vito di Cadore, a ten minute drive from Cortina d’Ampezzo, in a splendid, quiet, sunny place mid-way between the village and the woods. In winter it is near the ski slopes, which can also be reached by foot.
The apartments, comfortably furnished and almost all with a balcony. The size of the apartments ranges depending on the number of guests (two to six persons)
The house is provided with an ample parking lot and an extensive delightful garden with trees and flowers where you can relax while admiring the most beautiful mountains of the Dolomites.
Just a ten minutes drive away from Cortina D’Ampezzo, Villa Belvedere allows you to spend an unforgettable holiday in the Dolomites. The comfortable apartments with 2-6 beds are fully furnished and almost all with a balcony. Quietly located between the valley and the forests, the Villa offers a magnificent view over the surrounding mountains. In the winter season, the ski slopes are in walking distance.
The Villa features a large parking area and a beautiful garden with trees and flowers. Even during the high season, you find yourself in an oasis of calm.

We came to Villa Belvedere for a couple of weeks this summer and were not disappointed. The apartment was comfortable, the wooden furniture and wall panelling felt authentic, and the view from the balcony was breathtaking. Sadly the shower was of the sit-down-in-the-tub type when I prefer the ease and comfort of standing, but otherwise the facilities were clean and in good condition. The hosts were very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas, and helpfully suggested easy walks to go on with our young son. The aim was to get away from London and relax though. As we were very lucky with the weather, we spent much of our time in the garden. We tend to be lazy cooks on holiday, so we took full advantage of the tasty local cheeses and cold meats, which we had for most of our lunches (although I did get to borrow the house bbq). There was also a delicious pizzeria right in the centre of town. The 10min steep walk back up from the city centre was tiring so we often used the car when we normally wouldn't, but I guess that means we got the best view over the village.
Overall, I would say Villa Belvedere is well suited to a relaxing holiday. The Dolomites are incredible, the food good and the pace of life slow. We're very seriously considering going again next summer!
We have been visiting the Italian Dolomites for 10 years to ski or climb Via Ferrata, and have stayed at a number of hotels. One apartment we like to return to is Villa Belvedere, it's our favourite accommodation. The apartments are comfortable and well equiped. Most have a balcony looking out across the valley to Mont Pelmo. In the Winter it is possible to ski to the door from the nearby pistes. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The shops in the village are a short walk away but there is also plenty of parking. There is a branch of the Cortina Cooperative and many local shops which can supply all you could need. In the winter there is ski hire and cycle hire in summer. There are pleasant restaurants and cafes on the main street. Cortina d' Ampezzo is just 10 km away. For those who want to climb spectacular peaks, ski some interesting slopes or cycle the roads of the Dolomites or just tour the sites this is the place to stay.
I came to Villa Belvedere with my girlfriend last summer and I spent a very good week there. I've been several times in Italy in my life and I've always been struck by the sympathy of the people I've met there, more particularly in the South. But I didn't expect to be acquainted with such nice people in the northern part of Italy ! It has been marvellous up there ! We drove all the way from Paris up to the Dolomites with my girlfriend just making a two days stop in München to visit friends of hers. Then we stayed a week in Villa Belvedere to climb. Then drove back to Bordeaux in France through the Alps to see the Ocean. Best summer ever !
About Villa Belvedere:
It's perfectly located in the Dolomites. There are a lot of places to climb just next to San Vito di Cadore (and you can rent your material in town if you don't have any). You can also go wandering, there are a lot of very nice paths around (and mushrooms to pick !). But what I appreciated the most was the garden, a very good place to chill in the evening while looking at the big moutains around you ! The hosts were very friendly and they gave us lots of tips. The flats are clean and comfy with a very nice view in the valley. You also have access to the Wifi. And I also appreciated the ping-pong table ! The only negative point is that Villa Belvedere is a five-minute-and-steep walk away from the centre of San Vito. So you have no choice but to take the car to buy food.
But all in all, it was a very nice week in Villa Belvedere. My girlfriend and I appreciated it a lot ! If I ever come back in the Dolomites, I'll definitely come back in Villa Belverde !
