Renting an Apartment in Paris

Paris is regarded as one of the best cities in the world to visit, due to the amazing culture, architecture and art scene that exists throughout the city. When considering a visit to the area, there are a number of apartments, houses and studios available to rent, the majority of which include a pool, hot tub and fireplaces.

Shopping

When visiting Paris, it's recommended that you spend some time at any of the local shops and stores. Whether searching for stylish home furnishings or designer clothes, the many boutiques in the area will have everything you need.

Le Marais

The district of Le Marais plays host to numerous casual wear and fashion shops, including French Trotters and Valentine Gauthier. Beautiful dresses and skirts crafted with silk from the 1950's can be found at the Charlotte Bialas shop.

St-Germain des Pres

The district of St-Germain des Pres is just across from the Seine river, and is filled with a wide range of antique shops and art galleries. The boutiques of Marius Fabre and Marie-jeanne de Grasse offer Marseille soaps and scented candles respectively, while La Maison du Chocolat is one of the finest chocolate shops in all of Paris. Drop by Le Bon Marche for everything from stationary and books to homewares and toys.

Events

No matter what time of year you visit Paris, you're sure to discover a variety of exciting events to attend.

Nuit des Musees

Nuit des Musees is takes place for one night in May. Though this night changes slightly every year, it typically occurs between the 20th and 25th of the month. For that one night, all museums in the city will be completely free of charge for the hours of 7:00PM to 9:00PM. This event expands throughout all of France and many parts of Europe. If you want to experience the best that Parisian culture has to offer, this event is for you.

Paris Jazz Festival

For every weekend in July, visitors to the city will be able to attend the Paris Jazz Festival. This festival is located in the Bois de Vincennes. Local jazz musicians will play between 1:00PM and 3:00PM every Saturday and Sunday. The best thing about this event is that it's entirely free.

Food and Drinks

Known as the culinary center of the world, Paris plays host to a large number of delicious eateries and luxurious restaurants.

Le Jules Verne

If you want the finest dining in all of Paris, there's no better place to go than Le Jules Verne, which is located inside the Eiffel Tower. Not only are you provided with spectacular views of the city as you dine, the menu is fantastic. Consider purchasing lobster poached in court bouillon or lemon marinated sea bream. Whatever you order, it's sure to delight.

Berthillon

Berthillon is one of the many small cafes in Paris, yet stands out due to unforgettable ice cream and earthy coffee. The world famous ice cream offered at Berthillon includes a bevy of flavors to choose from, such as chocolate orange and roasted pineapple.

Weather

Paris weather is typically mild and comfortable, with a sunny climate all year round. Highs during the summer months only reach around the upper 60's, with the winter months resting in the lower 40's. Fresh air is spread from the nearby seas, which makes for a pleasant vacation at any time of the year.

How to Get There

The only way to get to Paris from anywhere in America is by plane. The main airport in Paris is Charles de Gaulle. Once you're in Paris, you can travel in luxury with a private car or rental car, or make use of the Paris metro system.

Exceptional

The apartment is in a vibrant, very interesting neighborhood, and is very comfortable. We missed having the usual binder that tells how things in the apartment work and makes suggestions for grocery, restaurants etc. but T was responsive and accommodating.

Divine decor, best location, fabulous service

5 of 5
This apartment is perfect, definitely the best we've ever had during our many visits to Paris. The decor is charming, luxurious, and peaceful. The bed is brand new and so comfy. The bathroom is modern, lots of storage, great water pressure. Unlike many Paris apartments, the toilet is in the bathroom, and the shower is large. Everything is new and spotless. Washer AND separate Dryer, not a combo, full size fridge too. Elevator is handy for me, since I always have too much luggage. This is also the quietest apartment I've ever stayed in, with a lovely and expansive courtyard view that brings in so much light. Real stone walls, original floors, fireplaces and mirrors, beams -- this is a showpiece apartment, we can't wait to stay again.

Cozy Montparnasse Gem

5 of 5
We stayed in this lovely Montparnasse apartment for ten days in January, 2016. We have been coming to Paris for over thirty years and started renting properties about 15 years ago. This apartment is the best one we have rented. The location is perfect, with restaurants, markets and merchants nearby and with easy access to public transportation. There is a Metro stop at the front door to the building and a major rail station just down the street. The Edgar Quinet market (two days a week) is five minutes away and the famous Rue Daguerre market is about a ten minute walk. The Luxembourg Gardens and the hustle and bustle of the famous Montparnasse cafes are also easily accessible. The apartment is the perfect size for two people, with plenty of living and storage space. It is beautifully decorated and has everything you need for a short or long term stay. The large windows and high ceilings give the place a spacious feel. The kitchen is well equipped for preparing meals or for simply heating up delicacies from nearby markets or grocery stores. We ate "at home" about half the time we were there. We have found our "new place" in Paris and will stay there again when we return. The service provided by Bernard of the HFR staff was excellent, and the transfer from the airport was an added treat after the long transatlantic flight. We will be back!
