          Wonderful family get-away

          5 of 5
My blended family of nine (ranging in age from 12 to 84) stayed at Villa Moopich over the Christmas holiday. The house is beautifully situated, with views from the living space, patio and pool to the beach. It was great to have our own shared space (as opposed to sharing a lobby at a hotel) where we could hang out as a family, while having our own separate bedrooms, which are separated by a pleasant courtyard behind the living room/kitchen area. The house is very well maintained and feels spacious and private, is close enough to walk into town but far enough to feel "away from it all." We also appreciated having a kitchen where we could make shared meals when we didn't feel like going into town as a big group to find a restaurant that could accommodate us. The bedrooms were comfortable and clean, all with AC and screened porch doors that kept the mosquitos at bay. They each had their own TV's (which we didn't use) -- I appreciate that the TV in the common space has been removed so there was no temptation to turn it on and tune out when we were together as a group. The caretakers, Delio and Marta, are wonderful and warm, and were happy to buy groceries and cook for us when we requested, as well as providing daily cleaning services. It definitely helped to have one person in our party who could speak Spanish, though, as others have mentioned. Delio also took my 84-year old mother into town on his golf cart when she didn't feel like making the walk, or when the rest of us were riding our beach cruisers (which you can rent in town by the day or week -- highly recommended!) into town. We had a spectacular time on Holbox in no small part because of the comfortable and pleasant accommodations. I highly recommend this Villa for larger groups looking for a place of their own -- many thanks, Emilio!
