                Great getaway

                5 of 5
We stayed at this wonderful condo for the month of January 2016. It is close enough to the beach (1 block) to enjoy but not so close you have noise. The town of Progreso is a lovely place to visit, great restaurants and lots to do. Casa Sol Mar is perfectly situated to enjoy excursions with our without a car. There is a travel agent a block away that works very well with guests. All the other guests where when we were there were delightful and we had a wonderful time getting to know new people and enjoy a new place. After the hustle and bustle of Cancun, it was GREAT. Merida, the capital of Yucutan, is only a short drive or taxi away and has lots of culture and even more great restaurants. The manager, only a block away, was great to work with. We were lucky to have Ron and Carol, two of the owners, there when we were. What great people! Can't wait to go again. Thanks for a comfortable home away from home. Dee Dee and Doc

                Peaceful,beautiful,memorable,one-of -a -kind house

                5 of 5
We stayed in Canton Mansion last year and we were so impressed with virtually everything about our stay that we vowed to stay here again ,this time much longer. So this year we stayed full three weeks ,and loved every minute of it. It's the type of the place you just do not want to leave.Merida is a stunning city ,full of cultural events and good restaurants, and still we spent most of our time here this time inside of the house ,enjoying the cool and unusual pool ,the shady patio around it ,reading in the hammock ,the large library not only of books ,but also of movies ,the two spectacular inner patios, well equipped kitchen ,humongous stylish bedrooms, stylish dining room like from a good Italian museum. And this time we were lucky and Chris Collins Lee was in residence in Merida ,so we could enjoy the classical music of his string quartet when they were practicing in the music room.Needless to say ,we met Chris in person ,and enjoyed three symphony orchestra concerts where Chris plays the first violin,in Merida theather and concert hall 5 minutes away. Like during our first stay last year ,this year all was impeccable, made possible by Neil, the house manager ,although I would rather call him mayordomo,to stress his excellent service, and of course ,the overall spirit of the entire fine stay. We would grant 6 stars ,if it only was possible . Next year we are coming again ,again for 3-4 weeks stay. Andrew from Fort Myers,FL,USA

Long term stay at La Casa Bonita!

                5 of 5
I arrived at La Casa Bonita May, 2014 and stayed until October, 2015. It was the perfect place for me and my two dogs while my own house was being constructed nearby. As the owner has shown in the pictures, and previous tenants reported, the furnishings are minimal. While this may be an issue for some guests, it was optimal for me as I had loads of room to store items that I purchased for my new home. The front entry was also ideal to store my small trailer and bring my vehicle in off the street; out of the rain and sun. The house has two bedrooms that share a large bathroom. There is also a half bath in the garden near the pool with an outdoor shower. The front bedroom is equipped with AC which my guests used occasionally. The garden bedroom has a fan and three doors with plenty of air flow. The kitchen is separated from the house with large glass doors to the patio. I provided my own kitchen supplies, linens and towels because I brought them with me. The house supplies are basic. There is a washing machine for laundry and a solar hot water system that works very well - even on cloudy days, the shower water was tepid. The garden is lovely with mature trees and a large swimming pool. As a long term tenant, I maintained the pool and the house cleaning at my own expense and paid the electrical bill. The owner took care of the gas, phone/cable and gardening costs. The location was also excellent for me with easy access to major roads and downtown. I did not take the bus as I have a vehicle and a bicycle but there are local buses right out the front door. Restaurants, cantinas, shops, theatres, squares, the Paseo... all are within a 20 minute walk or a 30 peso cab ride. Naturally, when in a home for as long as I was, there were maintenance issues and inconveniences. However, communication and necessary action by both the property manager and the home owner was both timely and satisfactory. I have recommended this property to others interested in a long term stay.
