        Rustic Retreat

        When you come into the house, there is a entryway & an alcove with a full bed. We found everything we needed within the fairly clean kitchen. Disappointingly, the freezer & lower cupboards were dirty. We could not find a regular coffee pot in the kitchen, but we found it in the hall closet. We left it there with the dust bunnies & used the Keurig instead. K-cups were thoughtfully provided. The living room was comfortable & open, with a large collection of DVDs & CDs. I understood there would be a satellite receiver, but there was not. Unfortunately, I was unable to connect to the wifi signal with my iPad & iPhone at all. The access to the other full bed & loft is via a climbing wall, which was not super easy. We would have appreciated a ladder. In the queen bedroom, there is a sliding door to the deck & a closet with extra pillows. The hall bath was nice, but there were cobwebs between the cabinet & wall. Hair care appliances overwhelmed the circuit breaker & we had to hunt to eventually find it outside the house. The master bedroom was as pictured, with a walk-in closet, tv, DVD player, & door to the deck. (There is an additional sliding-door closet that is filled with clothes.) The king bed was firm, but not uncomfortable, with soft linens. In the master bath, no curtains mean the beautiful shower can be viewed from the hot tub area. There are double sinks, towels, & a very tidy cedar sauna. In the laundry room, extra linens can be found. The hot tub was ready, but there were no outdoor lights nearby for a night time soak. A few things about our booking process: After an inquiry email, I communicated with the owner solely via phone, including payment. Strange, but the positive reviews made me comfortable. He allowed me to leave cash on the counter for the extra guest we had, which was very helpful. During the booking phone call, he told me that there would be a cleaning fee, in addition to the nightly rate. He said we could save 1/2 the cleaning fee & check out later, if we were willing to clean up. Upon clarification, I discovered we were to sweep, mop, clean counters & appliances, wash & replace the dishes & linens. I'm not sure if it was worth the savings. The sheets took so long to dry, we ran out of time before we could get the next load of towels 100% dry, so we left an apology note. After our stay, I received a text from the owner, thanking us for leaving everything nicely. Overall, it is a nice place and we would return.
