            Perfect gathering place

            5 of 5
The Quintessa is a wonderful place to gather and visit with family and friends. The house is extremely well cared for and appointed. Highly recommended to all.

Beautiful home, furnishings and view - a few challenges

            4 of 5
This was by far the most beautiful and fully furnished VRBO we have stayed in! There is ample parking and two large lawn areas for play on the water side of the home. The kitchen is extremely well equipped and we appreciated that the refrigerator and cabinets were left clean and empty for our supplies, rather than some who leave condiments and other items behind. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds and bed linens are high quality, and all bedrooms but one have lovely sound views. The bathrooms and towels are also very high quality, and the washer and dryer are large and high quality as well. The televisions are all flat screen. Even the artwork and other furnishings are very high quality and lovely. The extra refrigerator in the garage is a huge plus. The deck is on the upper level and needed repair; we did have had one toddler we could not allow on the deck due to too much spacing between the horizontal railings, but we could see that excellent materials had already been purchased for rebuilding and assume this will be done soon. We did have six children ranging from 10 months to 11 with us, and our major challenge was that in addition to not being able to see the beach in front of the property from the house; the embankment drops off with a 40+ wooden step walk down, and then a two foot+ jump down from the bottom step to a rocky beach; this is difficult access for small children and/or the elderly. However, the major disappointment for us was that during our stay the water quality at the Freeland Beach Park (a mile or so from this property) was closed to swimming (and shellfish digging) due to poor water quality. This was a major issue for children (or anyone) who wants to swim and play in the water, as it required us loading everyone up and going to different beaches to play. This house would be perfect for those looking for a beautiful and very well furnished spacious home with a wonderful view and close access to all the sites to explore on Whidbey, but awareness of the climb down to the beach and the water quality issue would be important for those interested in easy water access and usage. The owner was very prompt and responsive to our questions and concerns both before and during our stay. Our rating definitely would have been excellent barring the water quality and beach access concerns.

            Paradise Found

            5 of 5
Five women looked for a place to celebrate the 70th milestone for one of their group. They rented the beachfront cabin at Whidbey Island and found a place remarkably suited to their needs. Spacious, open common rooms meant the group could sit, eat, talk in various locales comfortably. Private bedrooms and the beach cabin gave each the solitude and private moments they desired. The beach welcomed us to stride energetically or dawdle mindlessly, and provided surprising treasures - the wooden teepee on the beach, and stones shaped like Mickey's head. The kitchen, well equipped and laid out, became a creative space and served us well. We left with regret, but carried away with us memories of bocce on the lawn; rabbits munching steadily while dogs careened around the beach; deer welcoming us as we drove down the trail to the house and again on our way out; and a truly wonderful venue in which to celebrate one of life's important moments.
