This was a wonderful place to stay. We easily took the Metro from the National/Reagan Airport and walked 5 minutes from the Metro station to Mary and Bob's home. Mary greeted us warmly with suggestions of where to eat (we enjoyed the Lebanese Taverna), and what sights are located close by. We were able to walk to the Smithsonian Zoo, and found the short commute to all the downtown sights (only 3 stops to the Metro Centre subway transfer point) very convenient. This is a beautiful neighbourhood and we felt very safe coming home late two nights from seeing plays. The fully equipped kitchen was a real asset as we ate all our breakfasts and some dinners at home. Mary had even stocked the cupboards with a few items that we could use when we had the munchies! Everything was spotless and the shower a real treat with the two spouts/faucets. We really appreciated being able to do a laundry before we departed for a week in another city as that saved us from bringing double the clothes. Free wifi and lots of books to browse on the bookshelves, including a current Washington guide book. If you visit the Library of Congress and the Capitol, we loved eating at the Good Stuff Eatery (salted caramel milkshake to die for!).
