So convenient and comfortable!

5 of 5
This is the kind of arrangement that city travelers relish! Dara has set up a nice studio arrangement in the upper level of the old carriage house---it's clean, simple (yet completely equipped) and affordable. I wanted something close to a Metro station (2 blocks), and grocery (1 1/2 blocks), restaurants (one block) and in a central neighborhood. Tall order! But Dara delivered. This was inauguration weekend, but when I made the reservation the price hadn't been inflated to the usual astronomical charge---yet she honored her stated price, which showed such integrity that I booked on the spot! Dara offered the use of laundry in the other unit at mid-stay (8 nights) and also afforded us a later check out so we could make the most of our last morning in DC. The separate entrance to the unit meant we could have privacy, come and go as we pleased. It is January so we didn't get to enjoy the enclosed backyard and deck, but it felt quiet and safe in the midst of a metro area. This neighborhood is so vital and energetic, and the location (just North of downtown DC/Mall etc) allowed us to maximize our travel experience. It's a straight shot on the yellow line from Reagan Int'l Airport. Thanks Dara. I'm bookmarking this listing for future recommendations!

Nice Stay

5 of 5
This was far better than getting a hotel in town. It was about 25 minutes out from Arlington. Really nice place. Take advantage of the extra blankets - the downstairs stays a lot warmer than the upstairs.

Impeccably designed cottage in close-in Chevy Chase

5 of 5
My family and I (two adults and a 10-year-old boy) rented this wonderful cottage for a return visit to DC. We lived in the Washington area for years and recently relocated to Atlanta. For us, the place was perfectly located to get together with friends from Silver Spring and Takoma Park. We rented a car and street parking was easy. The owners are an architect and designer, so as you might imagine and can see from the photos, everything was beautifully curated and appointed. I was delighted by the Nespresso and conventional coffee maker, plus the compact but very high end kitchen. My son found the grounds of the house (almost a full acre in the city!) magical. Every day he found a different place to sit and read or play imaginary Nerf wars. For those considering downsizing to a "tiny house," this cottage is a master template of clever thinking and sleek aesthetics. I could totally see myself living here happily. And my son was ready to move in for good. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming and responsive.
