We had a recent visit with two teen-aged grandchildren. The location of this place could not be better. A block away are lots of good restaurants, and an organic food market. The subway is very close, and the Eastern Market, which during the week is a collection of food vendors, also is nearby. The capitol building and the Library of Congress are a short walk away. The neighbors are very nice and helpful, and Kirt is great. The apartment was spotless, and the space (approximately 15 feet wide by 50 feet deep) has been beautifully renovated. The kitchen was entirely comfortable for food preparation, and there is a spacious tiled shower in the bathroom. The bedrooms are small, but adequate with good closet and drawer space as well as places for luggage, along with a luggage rack. Lighting throughout along with good natural light (even though the lower part of the apartment is below ground) helps the place be bright and cheery. The only issue was the over-sensitive smoke alarm, which activates for a toaster setting that gives a dark brown (not black) toast. We followed the advice of others and opened the front door, and that indeed quieted the alarm.
