Recent Northern Virginia - Washington DC Reviews

                  Best ever!

                  5 of 5
This place is amazing. My family and I decided to visit Culpeper for our second wedding anniversary and we weren't disappointed! We didn't know exactly what to expect but it was above and beyond anything we've experienced before. The property manager Eric was extremely nice and accommodating. When we arrived he gave us a tour of the house and provided informations about the house and many free tasting vouchers to the region's best vineyards! There are so many amenities that we were sad to only be there for 4 nights. The place is beautiful so just walking around the property was relaxing in and of itself but the rooms are beautiful as well. Most of the rooms had beautiful custom jacuzzi tubs and our room had a hottub on a screened in porch. The beds were EXTREMELY comfortable and the whole house was open for use. The grill patio and heated saltwater pool were well maintained and could have easily accommodated a hundred people. Eric was extremely available for the few questions we had about operation some of the smart home tech. Eric also arranged a private chef dinner for the second night of our visit and it was divine! It was some of the best food we've had.... Our absolute favorite part about Walden Hall though was the clubhouse on the lower floor of the house. There is an amazing game room, pool table, air hockey, gym, basketball hoop, and a fully functional home movie theater with complementary popcorn! We spent both nights down here and had a blast! We can't wait to go back and are already planning to bring our best friends for a couples retreat! This place is amazing and I'd be scared to even try another property since it wouldn't live up to this same experience. One piece of advice....Stay here!!!

Villa Lioni - Beautiful property in an idyllic setting

                  5 of 5
Arrived early evening for six night stay at the end of May. Warmly greeted by Mary Ann (property owner and host) and several of the other guests who were gathered for impromptu evening appetizers and chat around the island in the spacious and well provisioned kitchen. An auspicious start to a wonderful week at a beautiful property in an idyllic woodland setting. Our room, with private bath was large and airy, clean, comfortable and impeccably furnished including both TV and wifi so that we could enjoy as much privacy as we desired. We felt immediately comfortable. The house itself is large, and open with natural sunlight streaming in throughout the day. The grounds are wonderfully landscaped and maintained. There is a swimming pool (which was being open the for the season the day we departed) surrounding by a large patio area and any number of comfortable patio chairs. There is a built in gas grill. There is a large wooded deck at the back of the house, overlooking the pool, the lawn and the woodlands where we ate breakfast every morning. Perfect time of year to be in Northern Virginia. The woodlands that surround the property are lush, green, dappled with patches of sunlight during the day. The air is filled with cardinals, and blue jays, ravens, and ospreys and dozens of other species of birds. Great base to hike or bike from. Every day of our stay, we took long walks around the neighborhood and through the nearby National Wildlife Refuge, catching occasional glimpses of wildlife, e.g., a gray fox, muskrat, rabbits, etc. And perhaps best of all for some, the house is located only a short distance - half hour or so from DC, Old Towne Alexandria and National Harbor in Maryland - so is in easy reach of all the history, culture, fine and eclectic dining the Nation's Capital has to offer. Bottom line we loved this place. We were in town to visit family and it provided a perfect base for our daily excursions with them. While it is not really a place for a family with kids, It is ideal for a couple on a house hunting trip, or visiting relatives as we were, or attending a concert, sporting event, wedding or whatever in the area. The property is also very close to Fort Belvoir so it is a great place for military personnel either on temporary duty or short term assignment. Whether you will be in the area for a week or a month or longer, highly recommend you consider contacting Mary Ann about staying at Villa Lioni.

eclectic, easy going Vibe, great backyard!

                  4 of 5
Richard, I found this house to perfectly suit our 2nd annual Family Reunion-- What makes this house unique--is the laid back vibe of the house, the ability to have over 45 people there for our family reunion, and with the basketball courts, the pool and the loft it never felt crowded. It is one of the few houses guests felt that smoking outside was okay, as there were ashtrays, and there was more than enough parking. I literally saw three deer while we were there, and your quick response time was something I highly appreciated, as well as your pool concierge helping us almost every day with some thing or another, she is awesome. Your house is a different house from most home away houses, it is more relaxed, it is eclectic, it has a 60’s vibe; and most definitely it is meant for large groups, it has many different areas for people to hang out—and I felt completely safe with the younger kids running all over the property alone. There was even the ability to have Music at the pool! Now when we visit Virginia we will be hard pressed to find a home with a backyard and easy vibe; like yours, and the memories we have there will last a life time. I thank you for allowing us to rent your home, I hope you found it in good condition with all linens and towels washed and beds stripped, to make for an easier transition. Even though in true relaxed style there were few rules and we could have just picked up our clothes and left, I thank you so much for our memories and our fun time! We would definitely rent there again. Kind Regards, Lia Smith
