Absolutely prefect Artist Retreat

5 of 5
From the moment we pulled up in the driveway we knew we had found a special place. Nathan and Lumen, the proprietors are wonderful hosts and have spared nothing in sharing their home with visitors. The "church" has a great vibe, its decorated in a charming and whimsical way. You truly feel like you are in an art gallery. It makes you smile to be in the space. There were two of us (adults) and our black lab. We are used to packing everything we could possibly need when we rent a new place or return to one. There was no need to bring anything with us other than our own food. Everything worked great and just when you thought "darn it" I left that at home... not to worry its there! The house is comfortable, the beds very sleep inducing and there are plenty of spaces to be quite, read, sit and think, nap, listen to great music, make art, watch TV and or just enjoy being. There is a private deck off the second floor bedroom that is perfect for sitting in the afternoon sun and we enjoyed HH in jackets and warm sunshine. Inside is warm and cozy and I just loved coming to the coziness of the space after spending time outside in the SCULPTURE Garden... yes there is a lovely sculpture garden and while its winter and things were bare you could tell that the spring, fall and summer would be spectacular. The "church" is very close to the Shenandoah National Forest, and Appalachian Trail ... great hiking. And the sculpture garden is a great place to stretch your legs too! If you are into new, glass, and glitter find a different place. If you have art in your heart you may visit and NEVER WANT TO LEAVE. We can't wait to go back. It is a wonderful and Nathan is quite the baker surprising us with delicious muffins and yummy pancakes! Ella loved it too and I could tell she would have preferred to stay.
