Beach's Bottom was a wonderful place to stay for us. I've stayed in many VRBO or Homeaway properties, and this one was excellent: clean, comfortable, and in a really nice spot.
I would recommend you try to arrive in the daylight your first night. For this city couple, it was a pretty long stretch of gravel road.
That long stretch however meant it was very secluded. That encouraged us to stay around and relax, instead of drive and go, go, go. We fished for hours, napped in the sun, watched the occasional canoe go by, and generally just hung out. What a wonderful way to spend a few days!
We saw eagles, osprey, and many other birds. I lucked out and saw a black bear cub cross the river 100-200 yards down-river from where I was fishing. I must've missed his Mom, but it was far enough away I wasn't worried. There were lots of other fish, butterflies, I caught enough bass to keep me fishing--I'd say one an hour or so. Nightcrawlers were foolproof, but they hit on just about any lure I tried.
All in all, an excellent, well-maintained property in a wonderful spot. Thanks, Charlotte, for a great experience.
