                      The perfect, quiet getaway

                      5 of 5
This trip, it was just my wife and myself, looking for a quick extended-weekend escape. We really couldn't have asked for more. We both love to fish, and we caught several - my wife catching the biggest, of course! Plenty of crabs over a few days for a big ol' pot of 'em. Which were easy to cook, because there is ample cookware, utensils and other items you might expect at home. It's very quiet, and provides for a wonderful nature-centric view. In early July, there was a large gaggle of Canadian Geese who were having a layover across the river and would come out into the middle of the river - I think we counted forty two of them. We called Don when we arrived and he was very responsive and friendly to talk with. Everything was clean and ready for us to get going. When the day was over, it was very easy to get cleaned up and take advantage of the florida room and the deck, just kicking back and taking it all in. They provide a wide selection of DVDs, and some common board games for the family/kids. Plenty of room in the living room/den on the furniture for the family to watch a movie or just hang out. It's fairly private, even though there are neighbors. The way it is maintained is well thought out for providing some privacy without being totally secluded We are already discussing plans to bring the kids next time and make it a full on family-vacation and explore a bit more.

                      Great Stay on the Chesapeake

                      4 of 5
We had a great stay on the Northern Neck, and just loved the view. We had 7-10 adults at various times in the week and had plenty of room. We really appreciated and made great use of the full kitchen and the house was well stocked.. The sun-room and deck were both beautiful. We were a bit bummed out that there were SO many jelly fish (end of July), but we enjoyed kayaking on the bay (with kayaks we brought). With all the jellies and the extreme heat the week we were there, we were so grateful to have the pool, and spent most of our hours there. We did lose power twice, though only briefly, and during a big storm there was a ceiling leak (which has since been repaired). Mark and Val were very communicative when we had the power outages and leak, and they ended up being only minor and brief issues. Wifi was a plus! The pool and the views were definitely the highlight of our stay. Thanks for sharing your home with us!

                      Awesome stay!

We had a great time at Fish Tales! It was truly fun for the whole family - including for our relatives from Germany who joined us during the stay. From kayaking on the river to relaxing at the community swimming pool with the kids, there was something to do for the whole family. At first glance it appears there is little to do, but one quickly learns that this is not the case at all. After we took full advantage of the lovely home and neighborhood where we were staying, we headed down to Bell Isle state Park which was only a few miles away and enjoyed free music and many family attractions. We highly recommend Fish Tales to those who are looking for a quiet, fun and relaxing vacation.
