We secured this rental not realizing it's actual location, as the roads now have names; we knew them 28 years ago as only County road numbers. In addition, we knew this area as Laurel Fork back in the day, (listed as Dugspur).
We arrived delighted to learn that this cabin is situated 100 feet from property my parents owned, where we spent many happy times with them and our young sons. What a joy for us as empty-nesters, to return to our old stomping ground!!!
An incredible transformation from a cement hunting lodge to the immaculate, modern log cabin that overlooks the river, it was everything that it claims: Clean and fresh smelling, comfortable, had all conveniences, and so cozy...a perfect getaway cabin. And still quite secluded after all these years.
Upon arrival, we were greeted with a large fresh bouquet of pink and white roses in a vase. My favorite flowers!
We fished the stream and caught over a dozen, but all were released. Loved the hot tub under the stars in the evenings, and we cooked our meals on the gas grill every day with ease.
Walked for miles on the old path along the river, and visited cherished places such as the 'little falls' and the 'stair-step falls'. From the cabin, we were soothed by the familiar sound of the rushing river, the birds singing, and we watched bunnies nibble about, every morning.
We're thankful to have met Bob, the caretaker, and spent time chatting with him when we arrived. We also had the pleasure to meet the couple who purchased our old property. We will certainly be returning to spend more time at this cabin, or even perhaps the larger one to accommodate more family members.
