        Relaxing and Quiet Retreat

        5 of 5
My family and I had a fabulous few days at this property. The home is situated on a beautiful piece of land with plenty of parking and all the supplies you could need or want. We brought a lot of stuff from our homes that we ended up not needing as so much was provided (kitchen supplies, toiletries, deck chairs, life vests, floats). It is really peaceful and quiet, my husband and I had planned to explore the area while down this way, but instead found ourselves just lounging and enjoying the space. There were 6 adults and 3 kids in our group and we had plenty of space to spread out. It could easily sleep 10 adults (1 per futon) and a bunch of kids between the foam mattresses and couches. The pier is nice with lifts for the boat and jet skis. I did have a hard time with the metal ladder, but my uncle is a carpenter and built a wooden one which we left there for future guests to enjoy :) Shark Island is a must see! We took the jet skis out there. If you are renting them or the boat, be ready to make gas runs. The house does have two 14 gallon tanks, which we ended up needing to fill twice since the skis were empty to start with. We did not use the boat as none of us had a boat license, but would look into doing that next time as it was a nice looking boat! My sisters and I hope to come back to this home sometime soon and relax for another few days or maybe a week next time! Thank you

the best of both worlds... fishing and farming!

Loved every minute of this house... from the large shady tulip poplar in the front yard, to the views of the sailboats in front and barn in the back. My family wants to return every year. Loved the simplicity of the house... from the creaking original old wood steps to the front porch door slamming every time one of our kids came in from 'wherever'. Felt totally at home and comfortable in this very reasonably priced rental. The owner, Mr. Olverson, was even nice enough to leave fresh picked corn on our picnic table. Now that's what I call "Southern Hospitality."
