This was our first time at Gabe's and it was a wonderfully delightful place. The apartment is very clean and fun to stay in. The property and surrounds are very special; a great introduction to the Shenandoah Valley with never ending mountain views on the way to and from Gabe's. The horses are a delight. Their quiet calm presence made a horse lover out of me. The entire property is beautifully manicured and at night the lighted garlands up the driveway make it an easy find. The Barn apartment is private and is tucked away from the main property and is also outlined with tiny little lights at night. The entire place seems magical if you are coming home or arriving after dark. The owner is also very friendly and responded very quickly to my initial emails and met us upon arrival. They did a great job of decorating with all things horse. The theme is wonderfully done. Lots of great horse quotes and accessories adorn the apartment giving new meaning to life lessons from a saddle. It was great fun! We spent mornings and nights walking the lane and the road at the end of the property. Lots of wonderful birds in the early morning, and a host of country rabbits running through the field. Early evening strolls under the moon are also very special. Although the horses are just outside of the apartment in the field off the deck, the apartment is immaculate and from the inside we did not even know they were just outside. There is a fire pit, picnic table and a private deck for the barn apartment that provide lots of opportunities for enjoying a quiet country cup of coffee in the morning, from the apartment's wide assortment of coffees available. A visit to the New Market Civil War Museum up the street was a great history lesson of the area and only part of the history that is everywhere in the Shenandoah Valley. Gabe's was everything and more than we expected and we will definitely be going back. I cannot recommend it enough. The location is close enough to Harrisonburg to enjoy all that it has to offer, with lots of guides to the area in the apartment but we particularly loved the deep country feel of the quiet road and lane on the way to Gabe's, nestled in the valley.
