We came here on our honeymoon and decided to choose Mary and Sid's condo based on affordability and great reviews. We have really enjoyed our time here. The condo overlooks the marina and Sapphire beach (which is beautiful) so each morning we enjoyed just sitting on the balcony with coffee watching the tours go out. Speaking of tours you are a short walk away from the marina with Breakaway tours which was worth every penny of the 150pp (plus visa fee) for the day on the water and visiting Virgin Gorda baths and Jost Van Dyke. The condo was fitted with everything we needed as well as cute little surprises waiting for us. Taxis frequent the property, so grabbing one is easy to do, which is great if you are like us and uncomfortable driving on the opposite side of the road. Walking to Red Hook can be challenging due to lack of sidewalks and narrow roads but can be done (preferably in daylight), or it is a $4 taxi per person each way to get to the supermarket, restaurants, bars, and ferry to St John. If you go during work hours you can hop on the safari taxi at the entrance to the village (look for the taxi full of locals) for $1 per person to Red Hook or $2pp to Charlotte Amalie. These only run one way in a loop. Getting to the condo from the airport is an $18 per person taxi. All of the neighbors we met were super friendly and the pools and grounds were really well kept. The restaurant on site offers pizzas and sandwiches and was tasty. Our means of communication was internet only due to lack of cellular service. At one point the internet went out, we contacted Mary and she immediately had the company fixing it. Very prompt and easy to communicate with! If I had to comment on anything that could use improvement, it would be that the couch has surpassed its comfy days and the hot water only gets mildly hot. Other than that everything exceeded our expectations. We will definitely recommend this cozy little condo to friends and family looking for a nice relaxing getaway.
One thing we quickly learned was to avoid the popular spots on Tuesday and Wednesday (go on the Breakaway tour one of those days). This is when the cruise ships are in town. Also, we recommend bringing a mask and snorkel (save yourself the rental fees), an underwater camera, a backpack for getting around, lots of sunscreen, and plenty of cash for transportation. Thank you Mary and Sid for providing such a great affordable getaway!
