The house could not have been more perfect for a serene, weekend getaway.

The opportunity to stay in a stranger's home and feel like it is your home of 20+ years is rare in my experience. Yet, this was the feeling my five friends and I had from the moment we set foot in the front door. Not only was the house incredibly accessible and easy to find for one so peacefully tucked away, it was also warm and under constant natural light that easily made its way inside. And while the property manager had to come and adjust furnace settings on the first night for some extra warmth, he did so immediately and with minimal disturbance. After each long day of skiing, all we wanted was to return to the confines of such a comfortable setting. A fully stocked kitchen and open floor plan made cooking and sharing meals doubly enjoyable. With three queen beds and a nicely furnished living room, at no point did any one of us feel uncomfortable or like we were lacking privacy. I sincerely look forward to the opportunity to stay in this house again in the future and know it will be possible given how welcoming and responsive the owner was. Wouldn't stay anywhere else!

                          Idyllic, quintessential Vermont cabin.

Sometimes you form mental images about a certain place or thing, and how it should look and/or feel in a perfect setting. For us THIS was it! "Eye candy", heaven on earth. My wife and I stayed at Grousewood February 10-16 and it couldn't have been more perfect. Upon our arrival, they had the lights and the heater on, which made it cozy, warm, and inviting from the moment we pulled in the driveway. We were fortunate to have several inches of snow already on the ground when we got there. Then got another 12" plus, and an additional 6" before we left, just to add icing to the cake. Their snow plow driver was there several times to keep the drive way clear. We also tried snowshoeing on their trails in their woods. There is something about walking in the woods anytime of year, but even more so in the snow, which was very beautiful and tranquil. We took in a dog sledding adventure one day near Waterbury, about an hour away. Put it on your bucket list:) On Valentines Day, we went for a horse drawn couples sleigh ride near Smuggler Notch outside Jeffersonville. Very beautiful views of Mt. Mansfield. The cabin has a rustic feel and look with all the modern conveniences. They have thought of everything you will need during your stay. While having Wi-Fi wasn't a necessity, it was nice to have, along with the Apple TV, also very easy to use. We had an opportunity to meet the owners Kris and Brian. They were most accommodating and very good at communicating beforehand, and during our visit. I would also "echo" the previous review. To sum up, Grousewood was so warm and inviting we did not want to leave. In fact, before leaving we had already decided we WILL becoming back! Keith and Dawne

                          Long term guest

                          4 of 5
I stayed at the cozy cottage for several months while working in the area. I found the cottage to be as advertised, cozy with exceptional views. I arrived in the early summer and found a little of winter's dust remained, but the cottage to be over-all clean and the only smell I ever noticed was after I would sometimes leave for a few days - a little mustiness that I think is to be expected on the water during a hot and humid summer. The property has several places to sit and enjoy the views and a firepit to sit out at night and stargaze. The place is simple, nothing fancy but very cute, and I found most everything I needed was provided and the owner to be very accommodating. My dog and I had a great stay and hope to come back!
