Sometimes you form mental images about a certain place or thing, and how it should look and/or feel in a perfect setting. For us THIS was it! "Eye candy", heaven on earth. My wife and I stayed at Grousewood February 10-16 and it couldn't have been more perfect. Upon our arrival, they had the lights and the heater on, which made it cozy, warm, and inviting from the moment we pulled in the driveway.
We were fortunate to have several inches of snow already on the ground when we got there. Then got another 12" plus, and an additional 6" before we left, just to add icing to the cake. Their snow plow driver was there several times to keep the drive way clear. We also tried snowshoeing on their trails in their woods. There is something about walking in the woods anytime of year, but even more so in the snow, which was very beautiful and tranquil. We took in a dog sledding adventure one day near Waterbury, about an hour away. Put it on your bucket list:) On Valentines Day, we went for a horse drawn couples sleigh ride near Smuggler Notch outside Jeffersonville. Very beautiful views of Mt. Mansfield.
The cabin has a rustic feel and look with all the modern conveniences. They have thought of everything you will need during your stay. While having Wi-Fi wasn't a necessity, it was nice to have, along with the Apple TV, also very easy to use. We had an opportunity to meet the owners Kris and Brian. They were most accommodating and very good at communicating beforehand, and during our visit. I would also "echo" the previous review.
To sum up, Grousewood was so warm and inviting we did not want to leave. In fact, before leaving we had already decided we WILL becoming back!
